I have an accounting degree, worked as an auditor and I STILL pay a tax accountant. It's too INSANE for me!

I have a hard time believing a few things in the sex tape/testimony.

1. Travis never masturbated before he met Jodi.
2. As a virgin and someone with no experience, Travis jumped right to anal sex.

I call BS on both of these.

No guy wants to admit to #1 but I'm not buying that he NEVER had a guys night out with himself, if you know what I'm saying.

#2 is ludicrous because it would require alot more ah, preparation, to consummate than the good, old-fashioned way.

Bold is mine-

But a virgin would not necessarily know this. Some men who aren't virgins don't know this.

Bringing this over from the jury q thread.

We know they are targeting jurors.

After reading the book by the jurors in the SP trial, I'm wondering if these jurors had to answer a lot of written questions during the selection process also. That leads me to wonder if the DT has access to them and could they target specific jurors by comparing their handwriting from other documents and jury questions. If so, some jurors definitely have a target on them this morning.

I'm sure they have a way in place to give a good guess as to which one submitted the question. They could have a system as simple as having a dedicated jury observer during testimony to note who submits a question and at what time.

Tell me I'm being a worrywort.

I think perhaps the thought of endorsing the check scrambled some brains...

Not sure if it was the checks, or the fame they were seeking, but, Samuels should kiss the ground ALV walks on! Thanks to her asinine assessments, Samuels is all but forgotten.

not only that, but she apparently is such a saint that she sat in jail for TWO YEARS, charged with first degree murder, to protect the reputation of a dead man, before FINALLY telling the 'true' story.

how much sense does THAT make?

Much like the defendant in THAT OTHER FLORIDA CASE who sat in jail 3 years before telling her "true" story. Unfortunately, we all know how that ended.

Why, oh why, can't these jurors see that the truth is the truth is the truth is the truth. It's the truth the first time told, and every time thereafter. Not an ever changing tweaking of a story to fit evidence.

Wonder why she wasn't able to read Jodi's journal entries after June 4th...

Oh wait... I know why;)

I think Meredith Baxter would be a great pick, since we need an expert actress.

And she was absolutely brilliant as Betty Broderick.

I thought Jodi had the fake letters while trying to act as her own attorney? Before Nurmi?

She did. You can blame Nurmi for a lot of things but not the pedo accusation.

I disagree that it's because people don't understand DV. I think it's because people DO understand DV, and see that it didn't exist here.

And FWIW, I agree with Alyce that Travis did have anger and even rage, and that his texts were over the top and an inappropriate expression of anger. And if one were given no context for those texts, if one did not know of all that Jodi put Travis through before it got to that point -- I can see how someone like Alyce might quickly conclude that Travis was like so many abusive men she has worked with.

I agree with you that there is a lot going on here, but it is not in the defense's interest to bring light to all that was going on. I have mentioned before that I represent men who have been in abusive relationships -- and I've seen many men at the point where Travis was on May 26. What looks like anger and rage is more accurately an expression of extreme frustration and feeling trapped and hopeless, and at the same time helpless to extract oneself from the ties that bind. I can't tell you how many times I have seen women actually trying to provoke such a reaction and then using it against the guy, just like Jodi is doing. Those issues are so complex that I do not think they can adequately be explained in this trial -- but maybe through Juan's expert.

well, that's the debate...

The thing is that at no time that we know of did Travis take steps through legitimate means to keep her out of his life. And, three weeks before his death, he is carrying on hours of sex tapes with her and saying loving and flattering things to her.

Do the men you represent do that? Do they continue to have sex with the woman who is abusing them even though they are not married and living in separate homes and even separate states?

Do they refuse to take out restraining orders? Or to report violations to the police?

When did Travis decide that Jodi was a problem? Because I don't see him doing anything to protect himself from her.

IMO

But for the lay person, 'pushing his buttons' would probably resonate?

Alyce's 'tripe'? Are you kidding me?

She has clearly explained the processes behind domestic violence. I say no one is getting it because everyone is saying things like 'tripe.'

Obviousy, a psychopath living a double life would not be bothered by emotion. But, a man with emotions would be. Alyce made it clear that when guilt turns to anger, then how the man deals with it has a lot to do with how he saw anger modeled in his family of origin, among other things.

It is most associated with men statistically for a few reasons. Men are not taught to process their emotions, and anger is a more acceptable emotion to men than guilt. And, men usually have the upper hand in the power differential.

As Alyce said, a power differential between two people is ok if the one with more power isn't an abuser.

IMO

BBM

The perpetrating abuser in this case had so much more power than her victim, in the forms of deception, surprise, knife, gun, premeditation, and intent, that her abuse of her victim was ultimately fatal.

This is why her conviction and death sentence are more likely than not.

It struck me during the cross when JM was asking ALV about the "leading questions" when she went to visit her and she had to "pull it out of her." That leads me to believe that the ninja story was abandoned only after ALV effectively turned her into a victim. Otherwise we would still be hearing that Jackie Chan and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon of Arizona came into get Travis and benevolently let her escape due to her own karate skills.

I found that interesting, too. She essentially said she had to "convince" JA that she was an abused woman. lol. I think at that point, JA DID run with it. Probably thinking, "Hey this woman will say anything for me. She looks at me like she wants to protect me. Who am I to stop her?"

I think she was talking positively about Travis, to ALV, in much the same way she talked positively about him in the 48 hours interview. She wanted people to feel as if she had no reason to want him dead. Once the battered woman defense was presented to her, wrapped up like a Christmas ham with a big bow on it, she took it from there.

I thought Jodi had the fake letters while trying to act as her own attorney? Before Nurmi?

IIRC Nurmi was already there, co-counsel with another lady. JA fired them to represent herself. Then asked for them back and lady lawyer said buh-bye. Nurmi tried but the judge said no.

BBM

THANK YOU. That was exactly what she was doing, imo. Trying to enrage him, and then her reply= ' Have a nice day.'

It was so disingenuous for the DV expert to pretend that Jodi said ' have a nice day' as a way to DE-ESCALATE. I call BS. That was a passive-aggressive way to upset him even more.

She might as well have said f-you.

Thanks Gauntlet, I just snorted my coffee across my screen! :floorlaugh:

Dontca know she's planning on being famous not infamous. Last night Donovan said the slam about nancy grace was untrue. She explained by saying Jodie was adjusting her glasses.

We all know its not true because if you look at the video! Her hands were no wear near her face.

Last night jean c was going to allow her to answer callers questions. What happened because it never happened.

Just saying

Region of origin preference?

Island?

Central or South America?

Asia?

Africa?

I've fluctuated depending on whether I'm roasting for espresso (I have a Gaggia that will generate sufficient pressure and temp) or drip. I've done a wide range of Ethiopians ("Yirgacheffe" broadly) just to second crack (only a couple of snaps tops), and can get lots of fruit and great cooling flavor change. Some are actually quite strong with blueberry and strawberry flavor, but only just after first crack.

I've tried a lot from South/Central America. One of the best actually came from Brazil, believe it or not. At full city, it was full-bodied and chocolatey. They haven't had it through my supplier since -- bought 25 pounds of green beans at the time. Still hoping... :coffeews:

Ummm...did I miss JA doing those things?

the defense has used all these words on purpose, even though they are in no way accurate: 'rage'. 'tirade'. 'mortal terror.' others i can't recall.

gross exaggerations to bolster a case they know is nonexistent for self defense and domestic abuse.

"Ball of Fury." Jodi actually called Travis a Ball of Fury. She is so pathetically transparent.

I think "tripe" is very generous of you. I called it "a flaming bag of poo"

I figured tripe was well within the T&C. lol
