trial day 47: the defense continues its case in chief #144

Does anyone else think the defence and Jodi all know the jig is up, but are deliberately stringing it out. Jodi, because she knows where she is about to spend the next ten years and the defence because it pays them to extend the proceedings for as long as possible. My partner suggested this to me the other day. It's not beyond the realm of possibilities...

BBM = Yep sure do!! Look at my signature :rocker:

It was vain, not nonsensical. Mark Englarsh explained that one of his readers told him doing headstands was a beauty pageant trick to bring color and life to the complexion. Jodi had criiticized herself aloud in the interrogation room for not doing her makeup that day, and she asked Detective Flores, "This is really trivial and is going to reveal how shallow I am but can I clean myself up a little bit?" before having her mugshot taken.

Detective Flores said they'd take her as she is. That's also why she was tossing her hair around while she was sitting on the floor in handcuffs: Trying to fluff her hair out so she'd look better in her mug shot.

Afterwards, she explained why she was smiling in her mug shot:

Jodi Arias - Clip From 2008 Jail Interview - On Why She Is Smiling In Her Mugshot - YouTube
Lets see how much she hams it up for her prison mug shots. Smile for the internet Jodi!!

Yes but don't forget to say cheese.

No one even mentioned she was holding anything in that photo I honestly think they are clutching at straws.

I trust juan and if he stipulated to it, it really means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Morning everyone, I can only watch the last third or so once I get home....thanks to everyone for keeping me up-to-date until then (can't live stream at work).

I think the defense will rest today. Looking forward to rebuttal witnesses and seeing what the deal is with ALV returning.

So, I watched, but fast forwarded through, yesterday morning's shenanigans.

I think I saw a dog too in the eyeball reflection! :what:

I find the constant "mistrial" requests (begging) from the DT to just be utterly laughable.

And it seems things are getting very personal between the tow "sides". VERY hypocritical of the DT to "admonish" JM for his "star" status, that he has zero control over, yet it's OK for the murderer to "tweet" digs at the prosecutor!!

-------

And while I am VERY happy to have been working for the past three weeks, I almost wish I were sill unemployed...coz, damn, I do not want to miss the rebuttal! Coming home on lunch to catch a little of the trial never seems to work, coz, you know....it ALWAYS starts late!!! But thanks G-d for the the time difference...tuning in at 4:30pm NY time! So will be catching as much as I can!

Have a great day everybody!!

Congrats on the new job Linda! That's fabulous

I'm thinking that both Wilmott and Nurmi know the condition of their defense, ala Wilmott's little meltdown last week. Unfortunately for them, Jodi is the puppet master and is yanking the strings. Nurmi and Wilmott are rather obligated to jump to the client's tune to a large degree but within reasonable effort. I'm still waiting to see if there will be an attempt by Jodi to fire them before the jury can begin to deliberate in an effort to extend her stay in Maricopa County. I wouldn't be surprised if this has already been mentioned in chambers.

JMO - all this nutso stuff that went on yesterday was at Jodi's request. What does seem obvious is that not only does Jodi have someone (s) tweeting for her, but she is getting routine updates of the stories the press are posting, what the talking heads are saying and even interesting tidbits from crime forums. The hatefulness toward JM is so petty it is ridiculous. Like a lot of other aspects of this trial, Jodi's drama and hatefulness are front and center. Noticable enough that I almost have a bit of sympathy for Wilmott and Nurmi, they have the client from Hades who is desperately in need of an exorcism.

Im sitting here trying not to get my hopes up of DT resting today and starting rebuttal...

I might explode if I let myself think about it :sly:

That's exactly what I think too! That eye testimony reeks of Jodi crazy thinking.

After watching the shenanigans in court yesterday with the mistrial motions, not sure if it is desperate attempts by the defense or stalling tactics.
Then the motion by the defense to bring in a picture of TA eyeball with what maybe a person, dog, gopher, the gingerbread man out of shrek we are told it is JA holding a camera,
WOW Thank you for clearing up that the one thing that is not disputed is JA took photos of TA. But if you look at the line drawing could that be her left arm reaching behind her to retreive the knife. hmmmmm. Either that or she has something growing out of her head!!! Or maybe she was auditioning for cirque du soliel (SP) on awkward positions to hold a camera.
The next picture is what i think is the first inadvertant one of him sitting over the drain out comes the knife and the murder begins.
The best part of the day which was possibly ALV was in closed court :banghead: Could this have been something to do with the mitigation or aggravation phase.
I really dont think this trial can get any further off course unless aliens did it!:Banane38:

Is ALV still testifying when trial starts Tuesday morning?

  • #851
Maybe the defense protests too much, no one said she had the knife in her hand while taking that picture, now I am starting to think she may of.

That Jodi was holding them camera when she took the picture? That they think it's a good idea to contradict what Jodi testified to which is that she was kneeling when she took the picture? They should be grateful Juan decided to stipulate with them. They would have looked like fools in front of the jury.

i also think she used the flash to blind him water in his eyes plus a flash .that is how she got the best of him in the shower.she is evil
the pictures before that are dark no flash used

she said she was crouched down!!! and that he had to pick her up from the floor to body slam her!!!! what the heck did I hear that all wrong? we must have all heard the same story between her and ALV a million times! i just dont get this eye reflection at all. Its like both sides are completely ignoring what she said on the stand.

She did say she was crouched down.

As Beth Karas pointed out.
Travis is SEATED in the shower in this photo - Exhibit 159.
Travis' eye level is at the camera from a SEATED position.

Jodi could NOT have been STANDING with the camera at chest level -- if she was standing -- Travis would have been LOOKING UP at her and the camera. She is definitely crouching down at his eye level when that photo was taken.

Eye guy got it all WRONG! No way was Jodi standing when that photo was taken.

During the Daubert Hearing yesterday, they only showed Exhibit 159 of Travis' FACE -- they did not show that he was SEATED in the shower.

And .... the worst photo showing JODI's FOOT and bottom part of her pants leg in the shower with Travis' blood dripped shoulder -- is much worse than the eye reflection photo. SHE was in the photo, in the shower, next to Travis' deceased body in that evidence photo. No need to try to see Jodi in the reflection off Travis' eye.

Don't hold your breath on this verdict, just because SOME love jm, doesn't mean most do and we have seen in the CA trial, it's best not to assume. Don't like him myself, he could handle this so different and still get a conviction, but hey that's JMO

Me thinks someone hasn't watched the trial... what does "because SOME love jm" have to do with the verdict?

It's the EVIDENCE that will convict her, not because the public has JM as a hero figure.

I haven't had time to go through all the threads, but why did the family sit in the jury box yesterday instead of their seats? I did not understand that.

I never commented on this yesterday but in the photo he has drawn the lines on I see....

I believe Wilmott and Nurmi actually feel sorry for Jodi. Not to what she has done but for who she really is. I have thought in the past that Wilmott and Jodi dressing alike was a way they were using to humanize Jodi. Now I think what really may be going on is it keeps Jodi in line, keeps her from going off the deep end. I have seen Wilmott, at times, talking to Jodi when Jodi looks as if she's about to come out of her seat. That takes a special attorney to be able to do that.
