JM specifically stated that his office would NOT pursue an investigation at this time due to the DT's certain response, which would be to accuse the Prosecution of witness intimidation yet again.

JM was making the brilliant points that by engaging in ridiculous histrionics, repeatedly filing spurious motions in order to deflect and distract from the facts of the case, all the while enriching its players financially, it is the Defense Team which is mis-using the Court to intimidate the Prosecutor, not vice-versa.

Totally agree with your bolded part. I tend to think however it is a failed plot, I do not believe Mr. Martinez is the least bit intimidated by the continous crybaby antics. If anything, he may be more aggressive through his rebuttal case and if it goes to penalty phase - I would look for Mr. Martinez to be merciless to the defense and Ms. Arias. Well deserved I would think.

Did you notice how verbally abusive Nurmi was yesterday to JM? What would ALV think of him? lol

Yes. My thoughts on that are that Nurmi knows how wonderful Juan is and knows that he'll never be even 1/4 as great and he's so angry about that fact that he lashes out in court. JA also knows how wonderful he is, otherwise she wouldn't feel the need to ridicule him via twitter. :twocents:

JM is by no means God, and his voice is much, much quieter today..can stand listening for a change.. Guess I'm dumbfounded by one's talking "crap, if you will" once again do you want this defense to fail so JA is open to appeals???? Seems so JMO

I've said time and again that I am grateful for the DT's rigorous defense of JA; it ensures her conviction will stick. Judging by the response I've elicited---and the response others expressing the same sentiments (over and over and over)---it seems that WS is in general consensus: we don't like JA. We think her DT is very difficult to observe. The pain of the family---exacerbated by this trial--is agonizing to observe. But we all recognize that a competent, thorough defense ENSURES that justice is done----and will not unravel after the fact, due to trial error.

That said, "talking 'crap, if you will'" on a message board in no way compromises the trial. We are simply in a forum where we are able to turn things over in our minds---we are not trial consultants. We are not attorneys. And we are not judges. (Well, we might be---but we're not associated with this case.)

You are, too. You are in a forum where YOU are free to air your dissatisfaction, to air your frustration with the prosecution, to insult Juan Martinez---all without repercussion.

Are you of the opinion that anything here in any way impacts anything regarding trial outcome? It doesn't. We may be able to effect tiny, tiny changes in the Alexanders' lives, with generosity and love. We can't take away their pain, but we can help them financially and with our love and support.

But we have no influence at all on the trial outcome. (Whenever there is even a whisper that a line of discussion may compromise any of the players---ANY of them, including those we dislike---we immediately respect requests that we change the tone.)

Isn't it great? We live in America. A place where we have the right to do this. You can express your opinion. I can express mine. We ALL can do so.

And the trial continues on its path, undisturbed by our musings.

Don't hold your breath on this verdict, just because SOME love jm, doesn't mean most do and we have seen in the CA trial, it's best not to assume. Don't like him myself, he could handle this so different and still get a conviction, but hey that's JMO

Good Morning Super Sleuthers! I feel compelled to write a little note regarding above post. IMO, we really cannot compare the CA trial to the trial of JA...though they are both high profile trials, They are so INCREDIBLY different IMO.

Let us not forget that JM is asking this jury to return a verdict of guilt of first degree murder. He will not and cannot condone to this jury that slandering the victim based upon unsubstantiated evidence, proven shoddy/inaccurate testing, inaccurate record keeping on side of defense and insurmountable inconsistencies on and off the witness stand on behalf of the DT. Like him or not, the jury knows where he stands. He is the voice of Travis Alexander and WILL not let this jury forget his name, or the brutality of what happened to him....JMO.

Apologies, Admins...I will only post in future regarding court watchers and their observations!

I loved it yesterday when Juan talked about them wasting the courts time to 'add pennies to their bucket'.

Juan is an absolute professional and he brings legal arguments while the defense brings their continuous whining and grating noises.

But when Juan has had enough and decides to get a dig in there, boy howdy is it a good one!! And so perfectly timed. It's "enough is enough already!"

Why can't the defense see how pathetic they appear with these "arguments"? Is this standard procedure? And how many times does JSS have to explain to them what the mistrial is? It's not a daily, "well, let's give it a shot and see what happens" motion.

Just MHOO.

I agree with all but the idea of Jodi planning to kill the Hughes and maybe Mimi, a suggestion I've read here from several posters. I can't imagine that at all once Travis was gone.

You could be right. The way I see it is she had over a month after the murder to think of her life without Travis in it and to harbor bad feelings toward the Hughes, who she knew spoke against her, and for Mimi, who she knew Travis was taking to Cancun. And now, they would continue on with their lives. How dare they. And remember, she didn't care for Ryan at all. He was part of her alibi, her plan to kill Travis. She knew the police were closing in. I think she likely planned more murders and would have carried them out, had the police not been watching her. Some people believe she was going to run. Okay so if the gun was bought only for protection while she ran, why bring the knives? Only she knows, but I believe she had a plan and a purpose for the use of the knives and gun. After all, she had done it before. And she is a psychopath.

She would have been ok. Nurmi did mention Juan had committed the ultimate no no. "Character assignation " and we know what that allows

JM says ALV should be upset, "based on what was uncovered at that hearing" (yesterday's sealed hearing) :what::what:

Will we ever find out what was uncovered?

Interesting what JM had to say about ALV in that clip.

My little red flags have been up about ALV since she admitted on the stand that after talking with JM in November 2012 she went back to speak with Ms. Arias and to also review additional materials. JMO - it had little to do with review of other materials and everything to do with something entirely different. Just sayin...someone or several someones were very thorough in their preparation of Ms. Arias for her testimony. Sure are a lot of common words and phrases...

Over the years, I've seen "come to blows" hearings with attorneys in court. They rarely get to the level of yesterday's antics by the DT. But sometimes the judge knows you have to let them clear the air. IMHO Nurmi just doesn't get how petty and childish he came off yesterday. Wilmott looked slightly embarrassed ... maybe. They are desperate now and it shows.

Is a photo like a mirror image? They keep saying Left eye, though in the photo its the Right eye

It is Travis Alexander's left eye.

To reiterate, in the photo, it is Travis Alexander's left eye. Bryan Neumeister testified to this under oath, and the Prosecution did not dispute it.

I think people are confused because in the photo his right eye actually has a brighter, larger area of light reflection than his left. (The right eye is also obscured by more water.) This draws many to his right eye and they wrongly assume this was the eye which was enlarged. It was not.

Again, Bryan Neumeister's enlargement work was done on Travis's LEFT eye.

That's what yesterday was all about, and led to the State's stipulation.

i think once the trial is over you can request and pay for transcripts. i think thats what another poster said

You can. But sometimes a matter stays sealed forever...unless a party files a motion to unseal with the court. IMHO no one will do this once the trial is over.

The state has added another witness according to court documents filed April 15th. Any guesses on who that witness may be?

Whatever was uncovered, JM implies it has upset ALV. That's BIG.

I'm thinking the judge is going to toss ALV's testimony!

Even though every show on HLN was showing that it was his right eye. They aren't good.

The eye reflection photo does not mean a hill of beans to me. Anybody can make out "something". I think it is pretty shallow that the DT pulling that stunt. But in a death penalty case....a DT will pull many motions and string out the smallest thing.....so in a way-this was expected of them. Of course...................... :moo:

Exactly. I guess its kind of like the DT shaking their magic 8 ball.

It's obvious JA planned to kill him with a gun which is why she stole the gun from her grandparents and took it with her on the trip. My suggestion was that after she shot him, he didn't die and the gun jammed and she couldn't shoot him again so she had to find another way to finish him off, thus the knife, wherever it was. I think TA really pissed her off when he ruined her plan by escaping from the shower leaking blood everywhere and on her. A big part of her plan was to kill him in the shower so NONE of his blood would get on her. Also a knife fight is too sloppy. He could overpower her, she could get cut etc. I don't think the knife was the original plan. A gunshot to the head in the shower could have been perfect but something went very wrong and caused her to deviate from her original plan of shooting him.

Great observation! Welcome to our group connie9030.

Looking forward to more contributions.
