That's a HUGE mistake. She went from trying to make her look rinky dink in her job to making her look stellar in her job. JW doesn't prepare nearly as well as JM does. JM knows his stuff inside and out.


The only thing that bothered me with this witness is that she came off as a bit arrogant.

Steely, if you are referring to Dr. DM, I really didn't see that although there were 2X that someone could have thought so IMHO. What I saw was a confident and assertive witness that oozed professionalism.

When this witness was testifying about the intial results of the MMPI for Jodi, she listed some characteristics Jodi seemed to display, such as the tendency to blame other people for her bad behavior choices, to hold a lot of aggression but not that people would be aware of, etc. Were these just general aspects of her personality in addition to the longer discussion of the borderline diagnosis, or was she describing characteristics that evidence borderline disorder?

Borderline Personality can be quite scary (as seen here with JA) because individuals manage to hide their psychopathy while being quite successful at trying to be exactly what a person wants/idealizes. You never know where the "line" is.

Socio- and Psycopaths are easier to spot because they don't give a crap about anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if Charles Manson had BPD.

(And biopolar disorder is a group of symptoms, much like depression. Be careful with that word. It's like the word "retarded." Very derogatory to people who may be or may have a family member living quite normally and happily with that diagnosis.)

bbm - not true, not necessarily. Actually the opposite can be said. psychopaths are very difficult to spot. Very manipulative. Blend in well. Someone else can address this I'm sure.

I would think so but I may be overestimating the defense. Her cross examination of Dr Horn was pretty thin. I just don't think there's much here to cross examine the witness about. She explained everything pretty thoroughly - not only the diagnoses that she came up with but her reasons for disagreeing with the defense experts.

She'll have a hard time explaining how deleting the last three incriminating pictures is not a higher brain function.

Research and data collection involves a specified set of questions for purposes of control and information collection - it generally has a goal to collect specific knowledge, unlike this cross. Is she really giving this woman a hard time about a lecture she gave a few months ago?

She said she was describing characteristics Jodi presented that were symptoms of BPD, like the aggression, immaturity, unstable relationships, etc. Jodi could be the poster-psycho for that diagnosis! JMOO

Since she knew in advance that this DR was going to testify, shouldn't JW have reviewed her CV beforehand. Couldn't an experienced lawyer come up with some general questions weeks ago for this witness, not even hearing her testimony? Besides, did JW have NO idea what a competent DR was likely to say about JA?

LaViolette and Samuels must've reviewed Demarte's CV and gave 'feedback' to Wilmott... :laugh: :facepalm:
