I will say this, though: Borderline's usually become that way due to abuse or neglect.

I don't know how someone necessarily gets that way, but I do personally know two people who are diagnosed with borderline personality and know that there was no abuse or neglect in either of their lives. Could perhaps her own mother be borderline and it was passed on to JA? I don't know if these personality disorders are inherited or learned.
