I have an advanced degree in physics and there is nothing in the principles of that discipline that supports the precepts of The Secret or The Law of Attraction

They are just exploiting people's ignorance of physics.

I absolutely agree. I am also impressed with the advanced degree in physics. I knew you were smart from your posts. My son is currently doing post-doc research in Rome.

She tried to sound like Juan Martinez.

She was trying to look tough, too. Did you see her when she had her left hand on her hip?

Time for me to :offtobed:

G'nite folks. I have to work tomorrow (getting up at 5 am and it's already almost midnight here ), so I'll be depending on you to give me the skinny on what's going on in the courtroom tomorrow. Your good humor might just keep me awake LoL. I think this trial is going to be my undoing. But I'm not obsessed....really I'm not......just a little TOO interested....but not obsessed. :lurk:

Love ya guys! Good night.

ETA: My new avatar is a passing joke at how long this trial has dragged on, and on, and on. It in no way is intended to imply I'm all Grumpy Cat about still being at WS. THAT to me is a privilege. I'll stick around as long as you'll have me LoL. Until I get the bum's rush, and hopefully not for sticking my foot in it and getting a TO. :giggle:

I have complete faith in Juan. He did not try this case as a DP case, thinking he's going to get a 2nd degree murder conviction. No way! Juan is an officer of the court and he would not ever, play games with the courts or his career. His record speaks for itself. He did not overcharge this case. It's Murder 1.

The DT is scrambling because it's over! Their client should have plead guilty to LWOP. Instead, she tainted the victim's reputation, made up disgusting and vile things about Travis, and taunted his family! She is evil and needs to be away for life.

To assert the defense and the murderer are now conceding to a conviction, is laughable, and further insults this family. If they knew from the beginning there was going to be a conviction, which I 100% doubt, then shame on them for putting the victim's family through this trial! They put their "experts" on to spew vile lies about the victim, without one piece of evidence to support their position. By their experts being incompetent, they look incompetent.

My favorite part of the day was when Juan tossed it over to JW with 45 minutes left. JW has done this to him many times, and he's come out swinging and very ready. JW couldn't find her stride today, was unprepared and looked totally unprofessional.

This case was charged correctly. Too late for the defense to start crying now. JMO

Justice for Travis.

I could be wrong, but I think I have heard Dr Drew refer to himself as an Internist. He's not a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist.

You are correct. Dr. Drew is a medical doctor specializing in Internal and Addictive Medicine.

We went to the same college for undergrad (at different times, lol. He was graduated in the 80s). He then went to med school at USC ... I think.

Dick Samuels sent JA a self help book via Amazon. It was hysterical to me today when the witness said she has never even heard of the book.....:what:

My eyes are crossing , so i am going to say good night to everyone. I will sleep more soundly with the events of today. Juan sure knows how to pick an expert witness !
See y'all tomorrow !

Correct.

He is a:

Calif. Board Certified Internist
-and-
Calif. Board Certified Addiction Specialist

As I understand it, his designation as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, has to do with teaching (part-time/occasionally) at a medical school about addictions (which would fall under psychiatry), but he is not a Board Certified Psychiatrist.

We enjoy watching his show, however, tonite Nancy Grace was too busy talking and left the rest of the testimony to fall into his show - Then we never heard the end. Thank Goodness for WS - We get to listen to the rest via YouTube.

Watching the last segment of Juan's rebuttal with Dr.D. ... This expert is incredibly educated, articulate, knowledgeable, and moves as fast as Juan without skipping a beat. She never stutters or stumbles and she answers every question with precision and accuracy. She is awesome! To be able to answer questions in a context (this trial) with such fluidity is amazing! She's a perfect match for Juan because she can move as fast as he does but with clear, concise explanations for the jury! True anti-thesis of the previous "experts."

Listening to some of the cross from today being shown on the DD show. I just cringe at how JW tried to belittle Dr. DeMarte for having less experience than her own "expert" witnesses. Sickening, just sickening.

Yet, JW graduated in 1995. How long did it take for her to take the BAR? Below is from her website. See the BBM? How did she immediately work in law when she hadn't taken her exam?? Same way the good Dr. D practiced until she took her exam. Pot..kettle..black.

In 1995 she graduated from Arizona State University School of Law. Immediately after graduating from law school,
Jennifer joined the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office.

I'm watching JW's cross of Demarte and Demarte is doing very well. I'm at about 51 minutes in.

Just a side note about CV's...IN the event you DO a lot of lectures and your CV has many things, then by all means put them! I don't want anyone that might be a member who has a CV and has lectures on it to think they are not important. A CV is so individual? And it's fluid, it changes and grows with the person.

And depending on what a person does, they might in fact get on a lecture circuit and speak often about certain things and that is important. And it should have anything and all things the person wants to remember about their life in this particular field.

I have seen Professionals that show up at an event, a conference and speak, and the people in attendance were so impressed they request them again and again. And if you are good at speaking and people enjoyed the lecture, you will get asked to do it again.

And if you connect with your audience you become a sort of "guru" on subjects and give of your time often.

I think some of ALV CV included a variety of things and she has done them for decades.. One can become known for speaking about certain topics, she found a niche in her field.

I think the CV of Dr. Demarte feels more "weighty" I am searching for a word. More academic, and current with maybe more modern ideas, and concepts in these things. I don't think the two can be compared.

Just like one can't ever say that since this one has been in business for decades, she is far better then the one in practice since 2000.

It's like asking if she was even born when this one was graduating with a post grad thing. Um, so you are saying one is older one is younger, the younger one may be more effective as her ideas are culmination of old theories that are now either outdated and extinct and replaced with far more modern thinking.

Sometimes the old stuff, like the sex therapy of the 60's and 70s Dr. Samuels talked of, is just out of date and not relevant anymore.

Unfortunately Ms LaViolette's thinking is out of date and her bias is too obvious.

The jury seems to be doing great and will pick out who is more believable.

In case you missed Jodi giving Dr. Demarte the finger today.

These are not probing questions, but Willmott didn't have a choice but to cross Dr D.

IMO, the DT is doing the best they can. Jodi is bored with this 'game'. I don't even think the DT wants to deal with her anymore. They're stuck. No choice.

I was at work and only caught part of the testimony today. I will probably watch the whole thing tomorrow but out of curiosity can anyone tell me if she discussed narcissism/narcissistic traits at all?

I am sort of worried that the news media will seize on the "borderline" thing and run with it ARE PEOPLE WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER ALL POTENTIAL MURDERERS? :hills: I have had a lot of clients with borderline pd and I really don't suspect any of them of being horrific murderers at this time. :twocents:

:seeya: Cailin Rua I've gathered from other posters that you're not the only one who's worried about people automatically linking BPD with potential to kill! I'm currently rewatching Dr. JD's testimony (recorded HLN), and in addition to diagnosing JA with Borderline Personality Disorder, she mentions a heavy psychopathogical overlap in JA's case.
Overall, I really loved this witness today, but I do wish she had differentiated BPD and psychopathy a bit more. :cow:

WOW, around 1:03 (http://www.youtube. com/watch?v=Zu8V0W8eBL4) in Jennifer Wilmott's cross, Demarte does a GREAT job at standing her ground. Wilmott actually has to back down on her line of questioning relating to a perp's "lying and distorting".

Did Dr. Drew already do his 'jurors'? And was his behavior bureau only shown once? I admit I have been doing other things but tonight's show seems way different than normal...
Drew was caught off guard too. Seemed a bit sheepish about it.

I was disappointed with her. I was expecting more. IMO, Dr. DeMarte sounded like she was reciting straight out of her college texts. She gave me the impression that she used alot of her tools (tests) on her clients but I did not get the impression that she did much acutal therapy. I don't know anything about the kind of work that she has done but it sounded like she was just evaluating people to "get them through the system". CPS, prisoners, low income people, disability claims. :moo:
