My mother's got BPD, and it's NOT nothing. It's very real and very debilitating for those who suffer the disorder, as well as those close to them. It's horrific, and I take great offense to your comment. People should really educate themselves about mental illness.

Mine, too. Before she was Dx'd, she was very evil to me and other family members. I had no idea what was going on, and honestly just termed her "crazy".

She spent 2 months in the Menninger Clinic, where they pronounced her as bi-polar and BPD with narcissistic traits. That Dx was a godsend.

Today, she functions pretty well, but her illness strained our wonderful relationship. Although I love her, we will never have the same mother-daughter bond we once had.

I'm convinced she doesn't "love" like most people, and she's still very manipulative. It's a heartbreaking condition.

To me it came off like JW was being purposely obtuse! She was so annoying how she went on and on about the dates of when she wasn't practicing but was teaching..wtf?

I really agree here. It was like communication problems.....but JW was acting like Dr. D wasn't making sense. And she was. Maybe JW thought she could trip up Dr. D, but you can't trip up the truth.

Katiecoollady, I was reading over your notes and want to say thank you, thank you, thank you......a thousand times thank you. I really appreciate that you put your notes up here!!!

Hugs to you,
Susan

Saying one can be compassionate and evaluate someone as a psychologist is NOT a win for the DT. The point is subjective versus objective.

Dr. DeMarte used objective testing methods whereas ALV & Samuels were very SUBJECTIVE (touchy feely, opinion -- reading into text messages, etc.). THAT is the difference.

:werk:

That was what was so wonderful about DD's testimony - all her conclusions were based on objective data provided by Jodi herself, plus undisputed things she did before and after killing Travis. It will interesting to see how the DT attempts to overcome that, because they're sure to fail.

I have a question. When these experts FIRST went to see JA, was she aware of which ones were for the defense and which ones were for the prosecution? It seems like to me that if she knew JD was for the prosecution she would have tried to manipulated her alittle better. She actually told her that she hacked into TA's facebook and "G-mails" :giggle: and told the others they SHARED passwords. And who in the Heck is Cheryl Karp/Carp? I know later on SOME brought gifts, so she "SHORELY" knew they were in her corner later. It would seem to me that in order to get an accurate evaluation from both sides, she should not be privy to this information. At least in the very beginning. Just wondering.

no,i know that. i mean when did ALV say this?

She said it under her breath while on the stand after looking at Juan (I think while he was getting something or standing at sidebar)

  • #786
A poster or two thought ALV mouthed "jerk" toward the jury as Juan left her for an "approach". Juan's asking DD if "jerk" was listed in the psych "bible" may have been an intentional choice, idk. What is the name of that "bible" btw, the D-something-M?

Anyone know at what point in the testimony Alyce allegedly did this?

to me, having known many people like AVL, she is just a pushover with wobbly boundaries.

nice lady, probably anti DP, and this is why she took jodi on.

she comes from an era of touchy feelie Im okay , you're okay kind of philosophy...

the jury probably likes her, but has already dismissed her testimony as wishful thinking.

Love you guys...can't wait for today!!!!!

When you are in court there are certain boundaries you just do not cross. ALV crossed many of them. I think the jury gets that. It become obvious to them when the courtroom stands because they enter the room and stand before they leave. jmo

Like Norman Bates trying not to look at the fly on the wall. ha ha Very, very obvious. I watched her.
OMG, thought many times she's like Norman Bates...in her first interview with Detective Flores she says, "I wouldn't even hurt a spider."

Norman Bates: "They are probably looking at me...let them. Let them see what kind of person I am I never hurt a fly, i hope they're watching, they'll see.. They'll see and they'll know 'because she couldn't hurt a fly'."

Catching up from yesterday...on Part 3. Man, is this stuff sooooooo tasty.

DeMarte obviously knew JW would jump all over her lack of experience....what else does she have really. This Dr seems to be more then qualified. She did seem to be glaring (a little bit) at Wilmott.

I love Dr DM'S attitude. She is intelligent and comes off confident with just a bit of snark which is needed when dealing with what she is....its like she is saying...after that Dog & Pony Show you put on as experts...ARE YOU KIDDING ME.....???

So noticable yesteday...JA can't stand anyone smarter, prettier than she THINKS she is....she went into her FOG all day yesterday except when she flipped the bird.Just couldn't help herself.Pathetic

EXACTLY! He keeps a very fast pace and he never flounders for a document or piece of evidence. It's really incredible. And he does it all without a second-chair.

He has tremendous mental agility, which JW lacks, imo.

I think he can "see" exactly where he needs to go and how he's going to get there. And he's never thrown off course, no matter how many sidebars the DT throw at him.

Few people are that adroit, let alone moving as quickly as he does.

Anyone know at what point in the testimony Alyce allegedly did this?

I believe it was on her last day of testimony in the morning. JM was calling her out on something she did not like. She did not say it out loud (almost under her breath) but if a jury member was looking at her at the time they would have known what she said.

Bet it's easier than doing pushups. lol

I am thinking it is copies of Dr. Demarte's CV.

Thanks! I didn't even venture there....never noted this with the other experts so I was confused...:seeya:

Yes. Info from my 24 y/o DD is that it is common. What is uncommon is having hair ... there. Okaaaaaaay. Also that most young men get rid of any body hair - underarm, chest and "there" hair. :floorlaugh: Her one and only brazillian ended up only half done because it hurt so much she said she almost kicked the poor woman. DD left the shop in tears!!!

:floorlaugh: I can't imagine having a Brazillian. That's a very sensitive area down there and the pain must be unbearable :what:

Yesterday was good day in the courtroom. How exciting to finally have an intelligent, professional unbiased Dr on the stand. I highly doubt that JW is going to get Janeen to say what she wants her to say. Like Dr Horn, Janeen is going to make JW look very foolish.
To bad so sad. LOL
Thank you for being there for the Alexander family. Monday had to be a tough day for them sitting with JA and seeing TA's pic on the screen. More prayers for strength and comfort for them.
BTW Steven is a very handsome man and the sisters are beautiful. Thank him for allowing you to post the pic of him.

I don't JM has ever stammered and stumbled in cross and just looked at the judge with a blank stare which resulted in a recess.

I could be wrong though.

Do we know if Jodi was under a court order to cooperate with the States psychologist?
Could her lawyers have prevented her being interviewed and tested?
TIA

I agree that she failed all on her own but, if there was any credibility at all left with the jury, Dr. D. erased that yesterday.

So what is JA left with? Well some have suggested that the jury might take "pity" on her, given that Dr. D says she has BPD, and therefore might decide LWOP rather than the DP - perhaps even go with manslaughter. I have thought about this idea all night and all I can say is - if JA had "merely" shot TA, well then maybe LWOP is an appropriate choice. The fact, however, that she butchered TA - tormented him in his last seconds of life - leads me back to my longstanding opinion that she deserves the DP.

The defendant should never be allowed back into society. She is extremely dangerous, imo, and I believe there's a high possibility she will reoffend if given the opportunity.

I like DD very much and think she is a great witness and did a good job with JM. However, I became a little nervous when JW did her cross. Everyone knows JW was going to go after her about the length of her experience. She should have been prepared for this. She seemed nervous and a little combative on her answeres. True she does not have 30 yrs experience, but she should be proud of her studies and the years she does have and supply her answers with more confidence.

I have been at my job for 20 years. I have not done anything amazing in that 20 years. I have a director that started fresh out of college and moved up in my company in 4 years. Its not the years its what you learn in those years.
