Don't get me wrong, I don't like JW in any way. But yesterday, I truly felt sorry for her. It was painful to watch, she was embarrassing herself so badly.

I felt the same way. A mix of anger, and embarrassment for her.

My DH made a great point about DD vs ALV:

Who would you like to do your surgery:

A nurse with a degree & training, who has been a nurse for 35 years & has a lot of nursing experience, been around a lot of doctors & patients & who has CEUs (continuing educational units) in the medical field...

or

A surgeon with a MD, who has completed his residency & has been seeing patients since 2004?

Sure, the nurse has seen a lot of heart attacks, broken bones, etc.; she's been to a lot of lectures on patient care but SHE'S NOT QUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE a PATIENT! ALV only has anecdotal knowledge. DD has the extensive education, training and experience to give us an unbiased opinion.

In fact, ALV's education was so far in the past as to be irrelevant today. She wants us to believe she's an objective scientist who evaluated JA and came to a logical decision & diagnosis. She is not qualified to diagnose a dead man with pedophilia or domestic violence. She is not qualified to diagnose an admitted liar and murderer with anything.

OMG I can't believe I"m hearing this!

JW: "ALV got her masters in 1980. You probably weren't even born yet, so you wouldn't have been around to supervise her, correct?"

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

When JW said that " I said very loud and cleared And neither were you, JW ,born yet!! LOL or maybe just a baby!!!!"

:rocker: :rocker: and proud of it

Jodi was telegraphing a lot. At specific testimony her eyebrows would arch, her nostrils would flare, her lips would tighten, etc. Suppressed rage live and in person.

BBM: I agree ... her facial expressions were very telling, IMO.

JMO ... but I think that Jodi was paying attention to every single word that Dr. DeMarte said about her ...

But, Jodi "pretended" that she was NOT paying attention to her by trying to look busy and look important :waitasec: she's NOT, but she gives the appearance that she is by trying to play "paralegal" ...

Again JMO, but no way is Jodi NOT going to listen to what anyone has to say about her ... whether she likes it or not ...

:moo:

That's disrespectful, and shows how little Wilmot has, to have to resort to saying this. Another reason why I don't care for her.

LMAO you guys!

I will be so happy when this trial is over and I won't be watching any more of HLN!!!! Unfortunately, I can only watch the trial on TV during the day, and that's the only station.

Do they ALWAYS have these many commercials during other daytime shows (non-trial coverage) or are they doing all these commercials to get mega$$$ while the gettin's good? LOL

I open WildAboutTrial's livestream in another window on my computer and switch back and forth, or shrink both windows to the point where I can both on the monitor. Works a treat.

I always wondered if JW is actually taking notes or is it just a strategy to appear uninterested in what JM and the witness are doing.

Strategy, all day long.

I wanted to make a comment about the whole age/experience topic (not relating to anybody's post).

As someone who has seen more doctors than I like to think about for medical issues my entire adult life, there are times when you want a young doctor who has all the latest knowledge in his brain, and there are time when you want an older doctor with lots of experience who isn't, for example, going to order a lot of unnecessary tests, or can look at a much broader picture.

I think age is not the issue. There was nothing stopping ALV and RS from keeping up with the latest findings in their filed. They just chose not to.[/QUOTE]

BBM You just identified the flaw of Jodi's Battered Woman/ Self Defense strategy. Her stories and claims came from outdated resources.

JW made this sound complicated and it's not. it's exactly like a med student who becomes 'dr.' when he/she graduates from med school. then they're a resident. they work, they see and treat patients, but there is an attending physician (licensed) who has to co-sign all their orders and monitor what they're doing. when they complete their residency, they may do a fellowship in their specialty area, gaining more experience. but once they're licensed in a state, they can operate independently. but the entire time, they've been 'practicing', because they've been seeing and treating patients, developing a plan of care, diagnosing, etc.

But the rules are someone different for a Ph.D in clinical psych as opposed to a medical doctor. And don't medical doctors take thier medical baoards/exams after med school before resident tenures. Or do I have that wrong.

Bolding mine.

It's a little complicated. Some parts of the licensing exams are taken during medical school and some after. Board certification in a specialty, such as ophthalmology, gynecology, psychiatry, etc. are taken after residency.

United States Medical Licensing Examination - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Board certification - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

p.s. A licensed M.D. can practice a specialty without "Board certification", but of course "Board Certified" points to more evidence of competency. That's why you hear, "Look for a "Board Certified" specialist."

anyone have the AZ link? I cannot get it working. They run commercials, then I get nothing.

I think Wilma thought she was going to really ZING DD, throw her off, and then go for the kill!!!

DD reminded me of Sheldon on Big Bang...it was just too juvenile, she didn't get it!!!

Who's got the BAZINGA now!!!:great:

I felt the same way. A mix of anger, and embarrassment for her.

every time Dr. DM answered her with an intelligent response she wasn't expecting, JW was like "Ohhhhhhhhh ok..Ummmmmmmm..sooooo....you only worked there 2 months"?

:floorlaugh:

Regardless of age, I think the reason the prosecution chose DD is because she's a damn good witness. Seriously, I can see that she has experience teaching others. She explained everything clearly and in layman terms. Plus the things that she testified about don't seem to be areas where you need to be experienced in to testified about. She talked about the excisting protocols, the ways tests should be interpreted and gave her opinions based on those tests. Mostly she talked about what is appropiate (not giving someone gifts, apologizing, how it's extreme to spend 44 hours with someone you're evaluating, how people with master degrees aren't allowed to do certain tests, when data is objective vs. subjective, etc).

My DS walked in with me watch trial yet again and told me "I need to get a life" I said, 'I'll get one when she's convicted'. He shook his head and walked away.

While my daughter and granddaughters were visiting during spring break, I made them watch the trial with me. By the time they left, they were hooked, too!

I'm sure I was being abusive, forcing them to watch!

ALV worships at the altar of Lenore Walker. Does anyone remember that Lenore Walker was listed as an expert witness for the defense in the OJ Simpson case? Yes, Lenore Walker was prepared to testify that OJ Simpson was not an abuser, despite the fact that he pleaded guilty to one such offense, there were photos of his wife with a black eye, and he had beaten her in front of witnesses. That about says it all.

I'm a visual learner, i.e. I understand something I see far more than something I hear. So, if JM wanted to show the list of BPD indicators to the jury [great idea], why not provide a clear, enlarged list on the screen, rather than his teensy, cramped handwriting? Can all the jurors read his writing on the scene, because I couldn't?

There has to be a method to Juan's madness. I haven't figured out what it is but I just know there's a reason for it.

That, and unlike Dr. RS and ALV, she doesn't seem to have any bias.

Strategy, all day long.

I agree....but bad strategy IMO. All she did was provide a live demonstration of the 'immature' behavior that Dr D cited.
