Some points about the questions from jurors.

They did not grill Demarte about her relative lack of experience.

No questions about her BPD diagnosis. Shocker for me.

No questions about her saying that JA is not a battered woman. Another shocker. I expected at least one question about that.

No question about Demarte's opinion that Travis' anger was directly delated to JA's lies/snooping. I expected a question about whether Demarte believes that Travis' anger was justified etc.

No follow up questions. If the juror who asked about the bear/tiger was on JA's side ( as opposed to just asking critical questions) then there would have been follow up questions regarding that. No other follow up questions.

A small number of questions and no follow up tells me that this jury is on the prosecution's side. Remember they can be criticial of Demarte and still be on JM's side but I think this jury was impressed with Demarte.

Awesome post. :)

The lack of experience was a push. Nothing Dr. D could do about that to appease anyone. I hope everyone paid attention to the QUALITY of her work, rather than the quantity. Both Samuels and ALV had decades of "experience," but came across as antiquated pieces of machinery dripping with bias.

Totally agree about the lack of questions about both BPD and BWS. That was verrrrrrrry telling.

I don't have an exact count, but there were more than 100 questions for both Samuels and ALV. Only what, 19 for Dr. D. Of those 19, several were (imo) inconsequential. Bottom line, they believed her.

I seriously hope Dr. Horn will return. Watching JW try to break him down was some of the best comedy I've ever seen.

Catching up on yesterday's redirect with Juan.

My, when the 'hiding behind the Christmas tree' was mentioned, boy did Jodi look embarrassed. JW objected and it looked like Jodi was say to JW 'I wasn't hiding' or something.

And Wilmott keeps getting her objections overruled. YAY. This is one of the best parts of the trial, so far, I think.
The "story" is he had people over during Christmas holidays, house guests staying, JA was not invited but showed up anyway. He told her there was no room for her to stay - she spent the night under his Christmas tree. One of his friends who was there told this story a while back.. but I have no idea where. Maybe a much smarter Sleuther will remember.

Im confusing myself right now... Was the camera in the wash or the dryer? If it was in the dryer why was JW asking questions yesterday like but you do not know if it was washed do you? <----- Something along those. Maybe I'm mistaken in that line of questioning. That has been known to happen where I dream up parts of the trial.

I heard in the washer with bleach.

I believe when JA says, "I still can't marry him" (Travis) I think it's because she STILL can't get Travis to ask her!!

Yes, the something not right with that boy, in her mind, was that he didn't want to marry her.

  • #1,188
I think Jodi was seething with rage that she was not "wife material," so she put this nonsense in her journal. The "something wrong with that boy" was that he viewed her as garbage.

Yes, in "Jodi World" you have to read between the lines.

:woohoo:

For anyone interested in JA MMPI-2 "elevated" scores on the 10 Clinical scales. She was elevated on 7 of the 10 clinical scales.

I was most interested in the one she was the most elevated on and thought you might be too. Her T-score on the Psychopathic Deviate scale was a 105 (highest of all of her elevated scores) with 65 being the threshold for clinically significant. If you want to research the scales the developer of the test is Pearson.

Psychopathic Deviate (PD)- Hathaway & McKinley (1944). (50 items). High: Poor impulse control, disidentification with societal standards, authority conflicts, marital and family conflicts, inconsiderate, narcissistic, poor judgment, extroverted, self-confident, hostile, parasitic and externalizes blame. Low: Overly conventional and conforming, passive, trusting and non-competitive. Pd is a great characterlogical scale of narcissism, externalization of blame, exploitiveness, and hostility. The subscales for Pd are very important in understanding elevations in Pd. Elevations in Pd can be due to a hostile, exploitive and truly psychopathic mentality, or moderate elevations can be an extroverted normal going through a divorce, or a normal teenager. If Pd-O is greater than Pd, then the more pathological interpretations should be used. If Pd-S is higher than Pd, then the more benign interpretations should be used. It is helpful to also look at the content scales of anger, authority problems, family problems etc. to help understand elevations in Pd.

I know scales need to be seen globally as well as individually, yet I do not understand why this scale was not discussed in detail/ad naseum IMHO.

Very interesting! It does appear to describe the defendant perfectly - thanks so much for sharing that. :seeya:

i cant help but ponder over who the next witness will be.
i am REALLY looking forward to the wallmart and tesoro representatives.

i think we all know the wallmart person is going to say that Jodi never returned the gas can, otherwise Juan wouldn't have called them or brought it up for that matter and they will go over the procedure they follow for returns. how is willmott going to cross that? from what ive heard wallmart have the best records regarding returns/stock etc

same with the tesoro person.

i have no doubt that as juan goes on and calls his witnesses wilmott will become more and more flustered and look even more bad at her job.

i thought it was funny yesterday how she was trying to play dr wilmott and failing more than miserably

Ahh, I really look forward to JW trying to discredit the Walmart & Tesaro reps

So, you don't really know what your return procedures are, right?

Well, the cash register drawers don't open until the receipt and bar code on the item are scanned. (note: I'm making this part up)

But you don't know that for sure, right?

Well, I programmed the enitre system and administer it and there isn't a cash register hooked up to the Walmart system that doesn't work that way.

But you don't really know that, right?

Actually I do.

Let's go back a bit, you are using the most current cover sheet on your TPS reports, right?

(looks puzzled) We don't have TPS reports.

So you're saying you don't use the correct cover sheet.. is that it?

Again, I don't know what a TPS report is.

You're aware that other major discount chains use the TPS report, right?

No.

You've written TPS reports, is that right?

I told you, I don't know what they are.

Well,, I do and damnit, everyone is going to know that.

Does anyone remember when and what part I can rewatch where JW screws up and says after The killer shoots Travis, Travis chases her down the hall again?

This was during her supposed fog.

I remember hearing it but would love to see it again.

Yes, if it is not in evidence, then it is not true???

Willmott seems to be extremely undereducated or maybe just the last person who should be involved in actual trials. Her ideal job would be to maybe work as a collections attorney or sue people for rent/credit card payments...and no I'm not kidding. Other professionals in the legal field have to be wincing with her as a visible representative of their craft.

And to think she teaches others.

I have to say if I had the button and could turn it down so she didnt go down in convulsions (making a scene) I couldnt resist pressing it just a little tssst. tssst. tssst.

Oh, so you're willing to leave out the convulsions? I'd like to see her do the funky chicken, myself.

Is there ANY inside information or really strong "indication of" how the Defense feels about their client Jodi?

Not just "us" saying I bet they can't wait to get rid of her :)

But any real info even a source close to them blah blah even if it's rumor.
Not for anything other than my curiosity. I am wondering if they just love this girl and Willmott thinks of her as a battered little sister and she hates Travis? Or is Willmott playing a role...

RSBM Im not sure it would be JW. I think Nurmi will do the questioning. The questioning line would be similar just way slower.

Jennifer did that repeatedly during her cross of Dr. D - if Jennifer didn't like the answer, she quickly spoke over her or immediately changed the subject - it was so obvious. Jennifer was like a runaway train, racing down the tracks to her own destination, not stopping for anything along the way, and it clearly showed her lack of knowledge on the subject of psychological testing and resulting scores.
Our Juan "kinda" did the same.. he was just sooo much better at it... and we could all tell (LOL) that witness was sorta out on a limb.. unlike dear Dr. JD.. JMOO of course.

jodi is such a good lawyer. Not in evidence...indeed. That's what rebuttal is for Jodi.
