I hope the jury remembers one of their questions about Victor Arias Costa Rica, ja looked like she didn't know who the judge was talking about for a second or two, then guess it clicked and she answered the question.

Can't remember the question but it was about him.

After hearing that Deana went to Costa Rica I do wonder.
Victor was Travis' middle name

Ironic.

BBM~ Jodi tried to skew with the SKU #'s? :floorlaugh:

My answer to that is more questions. Like who in that town would want to set all that up for Jodi? And if an employee is scamming, what in the world do they have to gain? Jodi claims SHE got the cash. What are the odds she got to an employee who happened to need a gas can?

I mean, she was just passing through town. If there was a scam with an employee she knew, why couldn't she just get the person to give her the can for the cash and NO receipt?

All that elaborate dummy sku stuff for $13?

Which begs the questions--why did she spell Sku "skew?"

There are good reasons to use a knife to cut the rope. One is that you can't find your scissors. The other is, you're a bachelor who doesn't even have scissors. The scissors are too dull to cut the rope. The rope is too thick to be cut by the scissors.

JM questioned Jodi at length about how they used the rope on the bed, but she seemed like she was on all kinds of drugs, dazed or something, as she tried to answer his questions.

I agree with everyone that you don't need to stretch out 25 feet of rope in the house to figure out how much needs to go on the bed. Where does this length of rope come from? What was it normally intended for? Because I can't believe Travis or Jodi bought 25 feet of rope with the intention of using it on the bed. Why not just buy 14ft? You can get rope by the foot at home depot. So what the hell?
The scissors versus knife discussion got started because a poster mentioned that one the faux jurors on HLN After Dark asked why Travis didn't cut the rope with the scissors found in the butcher block in his kitchen. Agree there are many plausible reasons why Travis may have used a knife rather than scissors if there had been an actual rope--decorative or otherwise!

For what it's worth:
I worked at a major retailer for several years, first as a cashier and several years managing cashiers and customer service (refunds, etc).
The refund, fraud prevention, inventory tracking systems have been evolving for many years.
Even 5 yrs ago, it was IMPOSSIBLE to do a refund with a "dummy sku" in our stores. It had to be a valid SKU and it had to be an item our stores sold.
You could not just press in a made-up sku to make a refund, the computer would not take a fake sku.
Also, a void or line void, is done when you are at a register and an item is removed from the purchase BEFORE the purchase is completed. For example, if an item is added and the customer changes their mind about buying that item, an item is scanned and the customer says "forget it, that isn't the price I thought it was" or they have to remove items from their purchase because the total is more than they can afford. There is NO way a return can be rung up as a void or line item void.
I know not all stores are the same, but there is no way JA could have actually returned an item to our stores without there being computer evidence of it. With shoplifting/then returning for cash, employee fraud, etc becoming more rampant companies began making the system much more foolproof many years ago.

So, what did you think today when you heard one of the jurors ask this witness whether or not a "dummy" number could be used for a return? And the witness said "No" ?

Jodi has to describe a rope that was consistent with that one silky fiber found in the hallway.

But why? Why does she have to explain this? Was rope actually used for something?

  • #946
I agree that this is a possibility, but how could they say that with any certainty? We have not seen the rope.

Because Jodi said so?!?! I really have a hard time with anyone believing anything Jodi says. Jodi claims there was a rope used on June 4, 2008.....to me that means no rope was present at all. Jodi claims they had sex on June 4, 2008.......to me that means they did not. I seriously question how anyone can believe anything that comes out of her mouth.

MOO

Wow smelly. That's a wonderful pix of Travis and Deanna. She looks so happy, and Travis seems content and peace filled.
Thanks for posting it.

So sad, they look happy and content. What could have/should have been.

Have any of you ever had sex-play and fantasies on the telephone with somebody talking about stuff that you actually would never do? That is called fantasy-talk.....JA taped that call for a reason. JA also had TA repeat a couple of things ON PURPOSE.

Yes. Yes. Yes. To come up with a murder plot so involved and depending on so many things going "right," especially all that was involved in her stealth mode to Mesa, I do believe that JA planned this murder even before the phone call on May 10 and this taped call was part of the plan, and not just a blackmail scheme.

So glad you posted this. I had mentioned earlier that Beth Karas said the DT wanted to keep Dr. Horn from testifying as part of the rebuttal case. Some people were skeptical. Hope the judge allows the testimony of all the remaining witnesses.

After hearing that Deana went to Costa Rica I do wonder.
Victor was Travis' middle name

Ironic.

That is the exact thing I brought up to hubby when we heard that Deanna had gone to Costa Rica. Very odd that she named a guy with Travis' middle name and her own last name. Reminded me of CA and her made up friends that just happened to have common names with people she knew/met/saw on tv or in movies.

I would have answered the same way. In our stores there is no way to make a return with a "dummy" or fake sku. Just. can't. happen.

Or just one more less than elaborate deception...

And Walmart has the most sophisticated systems out there. If there was a return, it would be in their system.

When something is said on hln ...there is NO certainty and lots skewed facts.

Allow me to share this - I think something so horrific and unimaginable to the normal human mind happened that we as human beings could not ever imagine when JA tortured and murdered Travis that day. I don't think she even told her defense team what actually happened. She tortured this man something fierce I think.....I think the jurors think like I do.
There is a reason why Nurmi sits as far away from her as possible. He's seen the pictures like the rest of us.

  • #958
Travis trusted her. In his last will and testament he left Napoleon, his beloved black pug, to Deanna. Arias wanted Napoleon but was denied. Thank goodness Travis was thorough.

Nurmi"Hmmm, must have been a different kind of relationship, hmmm?

Why, YES, it certainly WAS, Nurmi!!

JA is a raging jealous psychopathic stalker who planned the torture and butchering of Travis, who has butchered his memory all over again in court and re-traumatized his family. JA will spend the rest of her life in a tiny cell, all alone, anticipating which day will be the one the walk her into the death chamber to get the needle, which is far more humane than she deserves.

Deanna was someone who was compatible with Travis, who maintained a relationship of mutual respect, care, affection and friendship with him, regardless of their "status". She shared many good times with him and made many precious memories, she truly loved him and he loved her and she is actively protecting his legacy. She is courageous and dignified and classy and she has a long, happy, fulfilled life ahead of her filled with many friends and family.

" a different kind of relationship"INDEED!!

BBM~ Because so far Jodi has more lies than truths, The rope does not make sense, therefore another lie imo.

I agree that this is a possibility, but how could they say that with any certainty? We have not seen the rope.

Oh, and also, I thought it was a VERY GOOD question! We have some jurors who want to think of every angle and either know it could happen or rule it out.
