Her mugshot pic bugs me. Who the heck smiles in their mugshot photo?

I guess she thought from this point on, she can charm her way through American Justice? NOT.

She has what people call a "jailhouse education". She does a lot of reading, but doesn't know how to apply words or pronounce them properly because she's only seen the word and not used in every day life. When she speaks, her true personality emerges. Example: when she argues with Juan Martinez. When you see her writings, its childish. No handwriting in her journals, all print like a kid's. She never grew up, she probably thinks she doesn't have to when she uses her sexuality to get what she wants.

Heh... Otoh, If I hear one more college-educated professional say "verbage" instead of "verbiage" (it's ver-bee-age), I'll scream

I consider Jodi to be above average with exceptional verbal skills as indicated on the WAIS that was administered by Dr. DeMarte. If her school/s offered special programming for gifted/talented students, Jodi might have qualified based on her outstanding verbal ability and possibly her creativity as indicated in her art work.

I taught high school English and easily recognized that Jodi has a large vocabulary and likes to express herself verbally and in her prolific writings. She wouldn't have liked me as her teacher because I find her rambling writings to be hyperbolic and just plain verbose. If she had an English teacher who attempted to guide her talent - I would have definitely suggested a much more economical use of words - Jodi probably thought that she knew better and didn't need anyone's assistance. :moo:

She rather reminds me of a man who keeps mentioning how much money he has, or what things cost him....like he is trying too hard.

Did you think Nurmi was mocking her when he kept repeating to her deedify, knowing there is no such word? I just laughed and laughed every time he did that.

Great Post!

I agree, the last week before the killing seemed to be intensified.

Travis was clearly done with Jodi and her she went to extreme levels to rid of him. What did she do/say that was so bad? Did she threaten to release the phone sex tape to everyone? I think something with regards to their private sex life was the catalyst of Jodi' premeditation to kill.

BBM~ Then why, oh why, did he have sex with her on Jun4? Did she walk in? Did she sneak in? Did she call him parked nearby and said she was in Mesa? I doubt that as we have no phone calls made in AZ. All the questions, ugh.

Finally, if Travis was in fear for his life, he would've texted/called someone?

BBM

1. Yes, and probably did so long before she killed him.
2. Unless I saw actual proof of it (no thanks) I will never believe they had sex that day.
3. Yes, she snuck in.
4. No.
5. By the time he was in fear of his life, she had already stabbed him, he had no phone in the shower. It was too late. :(

BBM. I have never seen so much manic scribbling in my life! WTH is she doing??? It's just the craziest thing. I agree, it must be some way of dealing with her anxiety AND also, at certain times, a "diss" - like to Demarte. JA was losing it when Demarte was testifed - IMO both due to what Demarte was saying, and also because JA detests this woman.

But the constant writing/drawing/scribbling (who knows what's going on on those papers?!?) between JA and JW is nutso. It reminds me of middle school when we passed notes, but their pace is far more frantic and manic.

It must be the new thing in trials?Let killers help keep things in order?
Occupying their minds what is left of them?:moo:

Every time I see something posted about how word smart Arias is, I think of her creative pronounciations of chasm and Green-witch.

The check was dated May 25th and was for $200.

I feel that Jodi wrote the 25th of May on the check..but that it was really written closer to June 4th if not June 4th. She just wanted it to look like she wrote it earlier. My guess is that she used it as a reason to go to Mesa and tell Travis she had a check for him. I am guessing she never intended for that check to be cashed.

I am 56 years old and the past 4 months I have heard more sex talk than my husband
and I have ever talked about and we have been married 26 years

I'm 58 years old. And I thought I'd lived a "full" life :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: . Apparently not! I'm constantly amazed at what Jodi was into. And I do believe it was her was into the "stuff" and not Travis. Oh I don't think he was innocent, but I think she was the instigator of a lot of their adventures.

I think grabbing him under his arms from behind would be easier and then dragging..Maybe I will try that later with my hubby.

I tried that first but the bent over position I was in made me fall on my butt a couple times and my feet slipped under me several times. (we are considerably older than JA) so that might make a difference.

According to Dr. DeMarte, that pose has its origins in BPD.

I was also of the mindset that she intended to take the camera out of the washer and return it to the case but she either ran out of time or just forgot. She would have known that the missing camera would be a red flag pointing to her. If that camera had been put through the washer and returned to it's case, I'm not sure it would have been checked at all in relation to this case. Or if it was, as in all electronics would be checked, I'm sure she would have thought that it was rendered inoperable and that the deleted pictures at least would be unretrievable. Most people would think that. And that there was no blood or DNA evidence left on it either. So if anything, she may have concluded that LE might just think that the camera had been inadvertantly dropped in water by Travis himself and was no longer operable.

JA obviously had no idea what LE can do to retrieve information and the fact that they found the camera in an unusual place made it that much more imperative to try to get any and all information off of it. I wonder if they would have done this if the camera was just found in it's place? Either way, thank goodness they were able to get the information that they did from it.

MOO

Yeah, you're right...even if the camera was damaged she thought LE wouldn't suspect anythng and just think that Travis had dropped it in water...that's so true. Plus there would be no fingerprints or DNA from her OR blood from Travis on it. No sex pics and no pics of killing, she thought LE wouldn't suspect ANYTHING regarding the camera. Also, do you remember testimony of where the camera case was when the police got there? I didn't see that part.

While it's true that Jodi misuses many words, she has an innate ability to express herself verbally, and she is quite confident in doing so. I'm sure that Jodi's speech patterns are much different when she's in the jail where she probably tries to fit in with others there who don't have the same level of verbal intelligence that Jodi does. Many people "dumb down" their speech patterns when they're with people who are not in the same intellectual league. I do it, and I'm sure that others here do it, as well. :moo:

Thank you for explaining what I thought was some strange "street slang" that JA would periodically blurt out during her testimony. I'm sure she learned a lot of it growing up but she probably does use it more often lately in her current living conditions.

MOO

Hey, wait a minute on that printing thing. I have never used cursive as an adult -- lots of people don't, but it doesn't make them childish. :) In her case, well...can't argue a lot about the content of those journals.

I meant in her journals only.

At 11:37 p.m. Arias called Alexander, and left a voice message telling him she got lost on her road trip to Utah and drove 100 miles in the wrong direction and would tell him about that later.

Arias then invites Alexander out for a show, again knowing he is dead.

“When we were talking about your upcoming travels my way, I was looking at the May calendar...duh? So I'm all confused. But Heather and I are going to see Othello on July 1st, and we would love for you to accompany us."

At 11:53 p.m. Arias calls again, this time the call lasted 16 minutes.

Citizen testified the maximum message that can be left on a Verizon phone is three to five minutes.

Citizen then testified the 16-minute call was someone accessing Alexander's voice mail.

Mesa police Detective Larry Gladysh told jurors that police were able to trace the cell signal to a tower north of Kingman.

"The caller would have been about 27 miles south of the Nevada border," he said.

As much as Nurmi went way too far with regards to the Travis' alleged sexual deviancy,
Nurmi is doing his job to the best of his ability. He did not sign up for this. He had no choice to take on this case. moo

Nurmi could have been more respectful of Deanna. His tone in his questions regarding the names TA MAY have called Deanna (and the ones TA used in texts) was not to the best of his ability but done for SHOCK VALUE.

Nurmi intended to point out TA was abusive to JA (don't agree with this either - TA just wanted JA to stay away) but it actually came across as horrible for the DT and disrespectful of a witness.

If this is the best of Nurmi's ability - I can't imagine he is a walking advertisement for future business.
