Trial day 53: REBUTTAL; #162

Can some one answer this for me. Why is this trial so expensive? And does every defendant get this kind of money for their defense? Why does Jodi get a $250.00 hr. lawyer and another ? per hour lawyer. If I were a defendant I certainly would want no less (monetary) treatment than Jodi received. moo

I am not a lawyer/although I wish I were,but my guess is b/c its a death penalty case
and all DP defendants get 2 lawyers to

Can someone answer this question for me?

When Jodi is "crying" <eye roll>..why does she immediately start wiping her nose, instead of the corner of her eyes if tears were rolling down her face?

I figured she was ripping nose hairs out of her nose to work up tears

Same here... Until someone posted a much better quality photo I couldn't make it out either.

I know that they can't manipulate it, and the DT probably did not want it lightened but if a juror was to request it to be lightened so they can get a clearer image I wonder if they would??

Ok, I googled and couldn't find any NEW photos.

Yikes! That makes sense. Too bad it's not working! :floorlaugh:

I am wondering if Juan can/going to bring in the manifesto if there is a penalty phase!

After watching the dateline - along came jodi story I do feel that Travis was playing with fire and it should be a good lesson to all to treat people with respect. Not saying he deserved anything to happen to him, just saying that I think he could have handled his relationship with Jodi in "better" ways.... But what do I know..

I truly believe he did initially. I think he really cared for her in the beginning, and when she began her frightening stalking behavior, he tried gently, many times, to dislodge himself from her web.

Travis was an innocent in the ways of women, especially deranged ones. He may have been so sensitive to hurting her, he couldn't bring himself to be downright mean. Even if he had, chances are she would have still murdered him.

Eventually, she did something to cause him to break bonds in an angry way. Why and how she ended up in his home that fateful day, and why Travis allowed her in/to stay, we may never know.

There's no logic we can apply to the defendant's mind/behavior/actions. She isn't like you and me. While I believe she's very very ill, she's not crazy. She knew exactly what she was doing and could have abandoned her insidious sadistic brutal plan at any time, up till and including her attack on June 4. Nope, she wouldn't!

Cold, narcissistic, filled with hate, envy and rage. That's what she is, and she only derives pleasure in the destruction of others.

She will not be ignored; she will not be dismissed. To do so, is to put your life in jeopardy. In no way was this Travis' fault.

I pm'ed you....are these the same Pics leaked months ago to some (i will not name them) death sites? I believe maybe the jury hasn't seen them before (except that one time weeks ago when JM slapped the neck photo up for a second...)...but we have seen them...right?

TIA.

where did razor go? Did she post the new pics yet.

I just finished watching today's trial and realized Juan is so thoughtful when he said, "Judge, the State rests" before the jury left. If I were one of the juror, I might think the Wednesday witness who keeps them coming early and leaving late was also a rebuttal witness since I would know nothing about the surrebuttal witness called by the defense.

I agree with you. And going by her questioning of Dr Horn first time around, she's going to argue imo that exhibit 162 aka the drag pic shows Travis with arm up and head elevated. She's gonna argue the blood seen pouring down his back was from the gun shot to his head and he was alive when the camera accidentally snapped Arias's pant leg. iow Travis was still a threat to Arias and the jury has to fill in the blanks as to what happened next and why Travis was stabbed 29 times and had his throat slit from ear to ear. :stormingmad:

If someone else has already said this, please forgive me.....
Am I following JW correctly when, in her final questioning, she asked the ME all about the neck wound and wouldn't the neck wound be incapacitating enough that he would not be able to hold his head up...
In her closing - is she planning to argue that Travis was holding his head up in the picture where Jodi is dragging him down the hall? That's what I gleaned from her question. What do you think?

I have a different take on JW's line of questioning about Travis being able to hold his head up after having his throat slit. Right before JW asked that question, she asked about the trajectory of the bullet to the forehead and had the doctor confirm it went from above to below, right to left. My thought is she was implying that would not have been the trajectory of the bullet if Travis was lieing down dead at the time of the shot. Problem is he could have been half slumped against the wall after JA slashed his neck and then dragged him part way back towards the shower. His body may have been making involuntary movements or sounds (as air and blood came from the neck and chest wounds) and she freaked out and shot him near the sinks leaving the casing on top of blood.

My other thought is about the blood stains left near the linen closet. There are a couple of large splotches of blood in the crime scene photos that look like they were not diluted out by water despite the fact that water had to have been thrown there at some point to cause the wicking, bloody water effect on the box in the linen closet. So, those larger puddles of blood must have been left AFTER JA did the majority of her clean-up with cupfulls of water. To me this is consistent with JA dragging Travis back towards the shower, and then getting tired and panicked, so she leaves him partly propped against that wall near the linen closet door. She then starts throwing cupfulls of water to dilute the blood left down the length of the hallway which creates the wicking up the box in the linen closet. But while she is concentrating on diluting the blood further down the hall towards the bedroom, blood from Travis drains into those splotches in the crime scene photos that are not diluted near the linen closet door. Then she returns and hears sounds from his body, is creeped out about moving him, that he may be alive still, so she shoots him leaving casing on top of the blood splotch, and then drags him the rest of the way to the shower.

Will the jury get to see all of TA's autopsy photos before they deliberate, including the worst one with his throat deeply slit?

hmroo?

During the state's CIC they saw the autopsy photos including the one of his throat. This was when Dr. Horn testified the first time back in January of this year.

You are most likely correct. JW, basically, is her babysitter, for the duration of the trial. I would make certain, if I was JW, that JA had zero access to any personal information about me, or my family. She scares me almost as much as Manson.... if not more so, spooky, dead eyes. :eye::eye: I would have a difficult time, if I was JW, letting her get so close to me, having her look into my face so closely. I would require strong medication, maybe more than one kind. :gasp:

If you notice, when they are in court JW leaves her bag well out of the reach of JA- she puts it on a chair close to the desk where the mitigation lady sits..

while we are slow... i made a post on the hln fb page about giving beth her own show... go like the post people

With all due respect I haven't seen that in anything that has been posted today. Admitting that the relationship was mutually unhealthy and saying that the circumstances could be used to educate, is neither condoning the heinous acts or blaming the victim.

He didn't deserve what he got in any way shape or form, people are just thinking critically about the circumstances that preceded the act.

Beautifully said, thank you. :seeya:

Who has used the phrase "just being a guy" in relation to this murder? What "pass" has Travis (or any man) been given to "behave in ways that women would be condemned?"

That sounds like 1970's ALV BS to me. Men and women are equally free to do whatever they want in a relationship. Women can now become men and have babies and go on Oprah. There is no rigid societal standard in our current culture--my God, our society is so sexualized that I'd love to know where these "condemned women" are hiding. Did these ladies not see the "🤬🤬🤬🤬 Walk" parade passing by? JMOO

Travis had a mutually pleasing sexual relationship with a woman that turned out to be a psychotic murderer.

Travis did not do one thing wrong, except continue to allow a stalker to have access to his home and bed. And he paid a dear price for that.

The FULL BLAME goes to Jodi Arias. I don't give a hoot that she loved "**** in her face" as she said on the stand. She's not on trial for that. So she likes to put candy in her nether regions...I still do not give a flying f!

She is only being condemned for slaughtering a human being. Nothing else.

JMOO!!!

I agree with you, Travis was as single as they come. He could date whom ever he wanted. He did not hide the fact that he was seeing other women. He didn't want everyone to know who he was and was not sleeping with because that's between two consenting adults. He wanted to be able to trust the women he was with. I have a feeling Jodi talked about marriage a lot with Travis, but he did not want it with her at all.

IMO she's worse than Manson. He never personally killed anyone....

I have been troubled for some time as to why JA tried to con the Prosecutor into taking a plea deal (manslaughter) or she would be 'forced' to divulge all of Travis's 'dirty little secrets' thereby dragging his good name through the mud with her vicious lies.

It's crystal clear now that JA deliberately and with malice of forethought set Travis up with the all of the nude photos, sex recordings, emails, texts, etc.... very early in the game. She saw $$$ signs right away. Travis was the very first man in her life with assets and unlimited future POTENTIAL. He was highly regarded in the Mormon community, as well as PPL. She had struck pay dirt! Eureka!!!

Using the only 'talent' she possessed, her body, she hooked Travis. Some people are 'hooked on phonics'....Travis was 'hooked on sex'. Jodi knew that he didn't 'love' her - but she wanted a 'return on her investment', i.e. an insurance policy. She had accrued an arsenal of blackmail material in the event he tried to leave her. She would ruin his reputation in PPL and the Mormon community. She had nothing to lose, but Travis had everything to lose. It was a game of high stakes poker.

Toward the end of their relationship, I believe JA realized Travis was having financial problems, facing foreclosure, etc. She also realized there was nothing in terms of a big 'pay-off' had she followed through on her blackmail scheme. She was forced to move back to Yreka because Travis dumped her and she had no means of support. The gravy train had left the station. She needed to re-group.

After JA returned to Yreka, Travis discovered that she had been 'scamming' him - thus the raging text message on May 26. He threatened to expose her for whatever it was that sent him into such a fury. Jodi knew the jig was up. She had to do something...asap! The murder road trip was hatched.

In the back of her mind, I believe Jodi thought she could get away with murder. But in the event she was caught, she had her arsenal of Travis's 'dirty little secrets' to spring on the court and Travis's family. She even had nude photos of herself and Travis taken on the day of the murder! (She must have been hysterical when she couldn't find the camera in her rush to leave the murder scene.)

I hope that this jury judges Jodi Arias not only on the heinous crime she committed, but on her evilness. Her actions before and after the murder were equally as horrific as the crime itself. Evil not only visited itself on Travis....it visited itself on the Mormon community, Mesa, the court, the jury and everyone whoever came in contact with this devil. She does not deserve to live!

I have to speak to this because I saw a TON of posts about it while I was frantically trying to catch up the other night:

Travis was NOT recounting a real-life experience in that video clip. He was telling his friends about a DREAM he'd had.

Sorry, not directed at you! Seems a bunch of peeps and HLN got that one wrong. :blushing:

What do you all make of this Nancy Grace interview with TA's friend Duane Tolman? He was a witness, so not just HLN making things up. He states he was in a restaurant with TA when a robbery took place there and the robber held a gun up to TA's temple. So confusing to me...dream or real life?

I've seen 3 head photos. One primarily the throat wound, one face and another kinda of the back of his head with ear wound. Have you seen those?

Yes...plus all the hand photos...
Thought these had been leaked before...although maybe WSer razorback has different ones?
It doesn't really matter--they are all gruesome and tell the true and awful story. Just tired of the sensationalism from the media "never before seen!!!" carpe. Obviously if a citizen like myself knows how to find this stuff--they should too. :eyeroll:
