I just came home from Target where I might have stopped a disaster. As I was driving around the back to park, I saw this guy sitting in the bushes at the end of the building and just as I looked at him he pulled out this huge long serrated tactical looking knife. Went in and alerted security. When I went back out, the police had him. Pretty creepy.

Maybe the dog in the courtroom today was not a bomb sniffing dog, but a pot sniffing dog.

Maybe a "juror" took a hit or two before coming to court this morning.

Good point!
Do you guys think JUAN should've brought in another ME?

No, but I think he should have asked Dr. Horn if the bullet was a "jacketed .25 caliber hollow point". If it was (and we know it was) it would be beyond a coincidence that that was the same type bullet that was in Grandpa's stolen gun (as per the police report of the theft at Grandpa's home). :twocents:

Which argument really infuriates you? I'm sorry, but I don't understand.

Well, I think I was pretty clear in my post, but you stated men are "given a pass" for their behavior and you, along with the OP, are not comfortable with that. Among other arguments.

The only "evidence" we have that Travis treated Jodi badly is her own words and she is an admitted and confirmed liar that blames everyone else for her lot in life and her bad choices.

Jodi lied, manipulated, stalked, and probably stole. How is he, the man, in any way to blame for that? She used sex as a tool on Travis to get what she wanted. How does that qualify as a "man getting a pass for his behavior"?

That's what makes me angry. Jodi is not some docile, frail "little woman" who was taken advantage of by Travis.

JMHOO.

Seeing the picture of the gunshot to Travis' head is helpful to understand that there really is no way he would have continued to fight and defend himself after that gunshot. I had imagined it just above his eyebrow, but it's higher up -- it certainly would have perforated a portion of his brain

I highly doubt he had any real idea how disturbed she is. Socio/psychopaths hide and blend very well. You can be nutty without being dangerous. Her feelings were that she wanted sex. He was happy to oblige. Sorry but he made it clear he wasn't interested in anything long term. She keeps coming around and being a willing partner...so what is he supposed to think?

Agree, he didn't know .. but there were red flags. There needs to be some sort of education for young people in this area. I don't know why schools don't teach 'relationship' advice in sex ed. Unless it's changed a lot since I went to school, sex ed then was all about not getting pregnant and not getting an STD. There's a whole lot more to learn.

Thankfully the ME wasn't the old guy from CA's trial. Can't remember his name at the moment.

That would explain the lack of public comment by the judge (since it is not a dismissal for a violation) and the fairly quick handling of this. This would need no input from defense or prosecution. The judge accepts the jurist's request.

1st POST on WS

Cool.

I still am bothered by a couple things in this trial and how it was presented by the DT. First of all they totally tried to make it out like JA and Travis were love struck virginal teenagers and not the grown consensual adults that they really were. Who in my opinion had a mutual sexual relationship that included talking dirty to each other. Not so abnormal there to me.
I also hate it that just because Travis was a practicing Mormon that he was supposed to have some special Godly powers that made him not able to make a mistake, or sin, or have sex with someone. It's not like he was some married television evangelist who slept around with hookers. I mean the DT makes it seem like if he ever had a red blooded manly moment that he was some how a terrible person, or if he ever had a natural reaction to something that would piss any normal person off that he was supposed to turn the other cheek and let it slide.
I'm sorry but this has bothered me through out the whole trial. I just hope that the people on the jury can see the truth and as I see it.
Travis was a good person, a red blooded American man with a bright future and a sense of humor and responsibility that others could take lessons from, but he was not a saint, nor did I expect him to be one. One thing for sure is he did not deserve to be killed, not by Jodi or anyone.
The mean, bad, sick person here is Jodi it's that simple.

I totally agree with you! I was raised Catholic and was always told it was a sin to have sex before marriage . All Christian faiths teach you that YET how many people follow those beliefs? The Catholic Church has homes for unwed mothers in every State ( I'm a graduate myself ) . Like Deanna said "We are human" Travis was a healthy, young man and Jodi took advantage of him!

That was all she could offer him, she has no personality of her own and nothing else going for her but looks and her body to offer. Just one tool in that toolbox.

Wednesday seems like a year from now...:banghead:

Anyone care to speculate about what the new DT witness will offer? Assuming he is a hired gun to dispute Dr. D's dx of BPD, what is the DT tying to do here?

TIA for any/all opinions.

Don't think these were them. They were the hands showing defensive wounds

The defensive wounds were shown in conjunction with these.

If that is, indeed, true I am curious how many times this juror came to court in a stolen car.

I'm not buying this story but I am wondering do they background check potential jurors? I know they ask if you've been arrested before, but if you lie and say no, will they double check?

Will the jury get to see all of TA's autopsy photos before they deliberate, including the worst one with his throat deeply slit?

Yes, the jurors will have access to everything that was admitted into evidence.

I'm curious f anyone knows if the Dr. testifying Wed will be allowed to retest Jodi or just try to reinterpret Dr. Demarte's tests? Is it possible he may just comment on the portions that she said she didn't use in her conclusion because they weren't supported by enough research?

Either way, I'm sure Juan will make it known that this is an eleventh hour witness brought in to try to repair that that cannot be repaired.

This is my first post but I have been a lurker for a long time. I have a few things to say, so please bear with me.
I am from Canada and we do not have the death penalty here. I agree with that 90% of the time, believing that putting them to death ends their punishment and suffering. LWOP would be fine with me because the public will get tired of talking and thinking about her and after a few years she will be forgotten and just waste away in jail until her death. She is so young this could take many years and from what I have seen, this will be truly a punishment for her. All she will have is other inmates to manipulate and maybe some guards, so who cares what happens to her in prison.

Another point is the way the defense is being talked about. We may not like them or the way they present themselves or how they look but really everyone is entitled to a defense. From what I understand they were given this client. I'm not sure what this is called in the U.S. but in Canada it is called Legal Aid for clients who cannot pay. I also think but not sure that K. Nurmi tried to quit this case at one time. I also think he does not like her and
cannot wait to see the last of her.

Thanks for listening and as always this is just my opinion.

Hello and welcome! Your points make a lot of sense and are certainly food for thought. Yes, I and many others here are also anxious to have the trial wrapped up and to see the last of her! :seeya:

Hey you know that text Travis sent Jodi where he was in a club and said something about realising she was one of the best looking girls on the planet .. I think he was going out looking for a casual sexual partner, realising it wasn't that easy, and falling back onto her because he knew she was there, they were 'compatible' in that way, and she was a fail safe option for that.

I think your right on that one, and I actually think that text pissed Jodi off. IIRC didn't she reply with "I thought you already knew that, LIE, LIE, LIE..JK?"

She was upset but then put the JK just to make him think she wasn't.
