I see. Like GQ kind of? So is this the magazine that Reeva was modeling for?

Seemed targeted especially at younger men...like Maxim maybe?

Yes and I think it was the pathologist who stated that even the hip injury could have been enough to kill her because of the bullets .
On that note how much weight would be put towards the choice of ammo and that he committed two offences simultaneously .Murder and was using illegal ammunition . I do wonder if the ammunition is enough to prove pre meditation.?

The ammo he was using was not illegal at that time. The illegal ammo he had was the ammo that was in the safe - which he claims was his father's.

If so, no amount of statistics saying Silverwoods is safe is likely to completely diminish his fear. (Remember the police arrived on the scene fresh from a burglary at a similar gated communty iirc)

Yeah, but then why sleep with balcony windows open (curtained ones at that), ladders on the ground below, not immediately repair a broken window pane on the ground floor, and have large pit bull type guard dogs that don't bark and that you can't trust to guard... doesn't seem like the actions of a fearful or burglar conscious individual to me.

Not necessarily. People focus on different things. One might notice something which another witness didn't, and vice versa. With people hearing shots (or similar noises), one might count them while the other might be concentrating on where they were coming from.

Totally agree with that . Me and my hubby often notice slightly different details about an incident as someone said yesterday it would be more likely that there had been witness collusion if they were verbatim

Thanks for that . At least we can still state he knew exactly how deadly they were .

You would think so, and we know that Mr Nhlengthwa next door called security, so something must have caused him to do that.

There are a few reasons why people might not hear, I suppose. Listening to music on earphones? In the shower? Sleeping with earplugs? Deaf as a post? lol. No doubt OP's employees didn't hear a thing.

Baba testified that Mr. Nhlengthwa reported gunshots as well. He was in the house with all of the lights on upstairs.

Stipp got thru first at 3:15:51am.

Then Nhlengthwa tried at 3:16:15am, but couldn't get through.

He did get through at 3:16:36am and spoke to Baba for 44 seconds.

I suppose that OP's father didn't have a safe in which he could store "his" illegal ammo?!? I know I always keep my father's illegal items in my home and then behave in a manner in which the police are sure to arrive at and search my home.

For sure!! I do not dispute that he absolutely intended to kill whoever he thought was behind that door.

yep....bye bye pisto.......:jail:

Ah... so that would explain why some people were talking about Oscar's father taking the stand.

It's interesting though that he was purchasing a .38 Special from Mr. Rens. It was on the invoice that they showed in court, dated June 2012.

Even if his father did give that ammo to him, it was in his possession and the invoice shows his potential intent to use it. So would he legally be liable for it?

I wonder why Nel did not call Mr. and/or Mrs. Nhlengthwa to testify, especially because they called security. I was looking forward to knowing what they heard and possibly saw. Any ideas on that?

I doubt he would think about warning and scaring any intruder if he assumed there might be someone on the other side of that door with an AK47 waiting to blast through the door just as he, himself was about to blast through said door.

AK47 ??? I thought we were talking about OP suspecting it was a burglar or two not a terrorist attack !!!

And if OP shot thinking the intruder/burglar was carrying an AK47, I dunno about you, but if I were OP I wudda sure got the hell outta there fast taking Reeva with me in case he had a bomb with him as well... and on my stumps!

I agree.

Many people have handguns in their houses, handbags, etc., and we can safely assume that none of them have them just to make a noise like a starting pistol, or to wave around to scare someone.

A gun is a very capable killing machine. Anyone that has a gun for self-protection has the intention to kill with it if it has to be used.

There is no such thing as a civilian using a gun and attempting just to maim a target by carefully selecting a part of the body. That job is for trained professionals.
Your maybe be right and maybe that's why handguns are prohibited weapons in the UK and we don't license any guns on the basis of needing if for self-defence and we have one of the lowest rates of death by gunshot in the world thanks to this, despite there obviously being some illegal handguns around. Not even our police carry guns so by unwritten law most crooks don't either... and if they do it will triplicate or more their sentence if they do.

When and how was it broken ?

We don't know yet. The only detail that we do know from testimony is there were no glass shards found anywhere on the ground. Which means, somebody cleaned them up at some point.

I think most are making the assumption that it was not likely cleaned up on Feb 14, as there was a lot of chaos going on that morning. It probably happened at an earlier time, the glass was cleaned up and the window had not been repaired yet. This would be a very easy entry point for any intruder.

I am guessing because their stories were not solid/ clearly remembered, or did not support the State's version of events as well as others.

Wonder if they are going to testify for the defence or just didn't want to get involved .
When you listen to what some go through in the witness box you couldn't really blame them.

The best I can compare it to is the male version of Cosmo...lots of pretty glamour girls, articles about health, wealth, motoring, man gadgets etc.

[From ABC News article on 2-14-13] ... "The sprinter, who took home gold and silver medals at the London Paralympics in 2012, enjoyed firing guns and would often leave his home in the middle of the night to shoot at a nearby range, according to Daily Mail writer Jonathan McEvoy, who spent time at Pistorius' Silverwoods estate on the outskirts of Pretoria in 2011. "He enjoyed shooting," McEvoy told ABCNews.com in a telephone interview from London. "There was a range nearby, and when he wasn't able to sleep in the night, he'd go there. He had a small gun by his bed, and a big gun by the window, some sort of machine gun."

I am sure Mangena said that the only double taps could have been the last 3, and after a bit of research I can see what he means because if he is right and Reeva was standing, had the first been a double tap she would have been hit twice round about the same area. This is why special forces use double tap, first to immobilise second to kill so you don't leave an armed terrorist standing ready to shoot again. However rapidly Reeva crumpled to the floor with the hip shot it would not have been quick enough (a double tap is so so quick) for her not to have been hit twice around the hip or a little higher. jmo

Thanks it was the last 2 shots I was meaning as Mangena said she had hands crossed.
