I saw the Court Chatter lady talking on the Whoop feed and she had heard that the assessor may be in the hospital. If that's true, it explains the week. I wonder how they handle it if that person is not able to return. Do they have back-ups, like they do for juries?

Makes you wonder - doesn't it. What if 1 of the 3 had a heart attack, or went into a diabetic coma. There are no alternates, and the trial would have to start from day 1. In this case, I'm liking the USA jury system much better!

This trial must be great for the tourist industry in SA with all the hotel rooms the media must have booked. Let's just hope the assessor's illness isn't viral.

I suppose the judge just wants to make sure she leaves enough time for the dude to get better instead of scheduling a date and having him still be sick.

It was the female that was missing today in court.

Statement from the assessor's husband
"I found her ill and in pain, I phoned the estate manager and asked him to call an ambulance".

That one didn't get a lot of play. If you watche the JA trial you may recognize some of the players as well as Dr. Karp who was supposed to be a defense expert for Jodi but backed out.

Fun fact!

Conspiracy theory = is someone trying to kill her? This is SA, after all.

Geez, that sounds very familiar.... (shades of OP)

Yes, but you are not telling the whole story!!

When the security first arrived, they phoned the assessor’s husband while the poor, sick assessor was passed out on the floor, the husband told the security personnel, “Security, Everything is fine.”

Crikey! I am concerned but should I be? Any legal eagles care to comment?

I was absolutely shocked when I read that the Assessor is a friend of Oscar's so it took me a few minutes to decide whether I should post it or not as it appeared to me that there could be a conflict of interest.

Do you think that the Judge and Assessors could have been specially chosen because of their backgrounds?

In other words, Judge Masipa has a background in social work and domestic violence issues and the female assessor probably would be sympathetic to and understand disability.
