N: We agree with you, the last wound was probably the head wound, that would have been totally incapacitating?

B: I agree, it would.

Poor Botha, he is suffering at the hands of Nel.

With all the pathology details again, this must drain OP's confidence prior to going on the stand. A disadvantage in my opinion. He's not looking as though he's coping very well.

Amazed that Prof/ Botha has been caught making such an incorrect statement regarding blood spatter on tiles. The DT's first witness is as much of a disaster as Batman. I think his testimony will be mostly disregarded.

  • #105
Witness is a little out of his element.

  • #106
If the rest of the DT's witnesses are as badly prepared for Nel as this then this could be a brutal phase of the trial.
I cannot even imagine how OP is going to fare if he gets on the stand shortly. I just cannot see him lasting out, especially if it turns into days on the stand and have a bad feeling that he is going to get taken ill or not continue for some reason. I really hope not.

I really hope OP takes the stand but you never know about this things...

B: To get splinters she must have been reasonably close to the door...

N: You've seen the mag rack; the striations you linked to that-are you saying they were forced by the wood?

He says that it is 'likely'.

Now showing wound on Reeva's back? Very close up. It looks like a small, deep bruise to me.

I can't see any scalloped edge at all.

Rather stunned that they showed a close up of an injury to Reeva's back. Amazed at a lot of things this morning.

OK the professor has jumped the shark. Not good. His peers are going to be giggling and laughing at him at their next medical conference.

  • #110
B is saying he can see striations and a pattern, insisting on that 'it's a frictional movement that causes that kind of wound'.

But Nel's pointing out the hairs on the skin are not removed and witness has finally conceded the hair would 'possibly' be removed during a friction wound.

Aahh, I'm starting to feel sorry for this witness now....

Tea time, back at 11.15

Back at 11:15.

OP must be horrified at Nel's astuteness. He is so sharp. IMO OP is not going to be able to deal with Nel's questions. I think he will crumble under the stress.

Nel ate his Cheerios this morning.

Thanks so much for the written commentary everyone .
Have to say so far not much damage done ( if any ) to prosecution pathologist .
In fact she has backed a lot of it up. The lack of screaming is going to be more difficult to disprove now ?
Interesting point about the food enzymes. It seems perfectly logic to me that food could continue digesting whilst in the stomach after death because of acid in there but not pass into the bowel . What's everyone's thoughts on that . Surely this means that 2 hours could well have been right ?

I am surprised such a detailed photo was shown, and honestly can't see what anyone's talking about - it looks nothing like any kind of abrasion to me. The skin surface didn't seem damaged at all? It looked like some small object hit her with some force.

BIB It is not because of any gore being discussed or shown. It is because his "expert" just got torn to shreds by the Prosecution.

Yes, I'm zooming into the pic of the magazine rack but I can't see any tiny scalloped edge that would've caused that .. there is a really big smooth scallop on the sides of the rack, but no tiny one which would've caused those striations. I don't know what he is on about, he's talking nonsense.

It could have been. But it seems an inexact science.

Nel ate his Cheerios this morning.

Or four Weetabix. There were old ads in the UK featuring a cricketer that implied only a superman could eat more than two....

Phew!!!! not a good start for the defense. It's taking my breath away. Almost feel protective towards Botha.
