Bit of a trick Nel pulled there.

If someone's shooting and they say that was a zombie-stopper, it means you've made a volley of good shots (i.e. that would stop zombies).

It's something guy's would say when playing Call of Duty and similar.

Would it be ok for me to use what you've just said on my own twitter account?

Its ok if not. Its nice to throw it out there for those who don't know this

From my reading it doesn't refer to a volley of shots at all but to the devastating capacity of different soft nose or hollow point bullets, at least as that's how they use the term on this ammunition manufacturer's website where they call their make "Zombie" as well (BIB):

These Zmax tipped hollow point bullets are devastating zombie stoppers. The 00 buckshot 12 guage rounds were stunningly effective at close ranges. Without question the Zombie Max ammunition is a must have for your zombie preparedness kit. Don’t leave home without them.though.

Yep, all its done now is delay things and make Nel look like a doos.
I honestly don't know if that was a wise move as Im no legal expert but cant imagine how it has helped the states case.

I certainly understand what he was trying to do, I just don't think he went about it the right way, nor that the circumstances called for it.

The Sky SA expert lawyer was correct that Nel was going to show him the photograph of Reeva's head injury.

Damn, missed that, I'm watching Sky also but the phone keeps interrupting me lol Think I may have to take it off the hook

Nel stamped his feet and showed what a "tiger" he is.... and made OP cry... not exactly difficult to do.

Oh, my god...

That was horrible. Shaking now.

I think that perhaps it is a good thing to show that just so that it gets through to people just how devastating those injuries were, and that this is no ordinary accident or sad mistake. Also to keep on reminding OP, because he still doesn't seem to be admitting to himself exactly what he has done .. you only have to listen to how he could not even admit to 'killing her' to start off with .. it was a 'mistake' .. I 'took her life' .. etc. I don't think it has yet got through to him that he is standing for a murder trial.

Surely that's something to be pursued and examined after trial, when a verdict has been issued. Not something for Nel to decide?

He's not a psychologist as far as I'm aware.

I don't see it as any different from a detective showing a graphic crime scene photo to a suspect.

I am usually awed by the skill of prosecutors. Martinez being an obvious example. Some defense lawyers are also very talented (although some morally questionable!), Cochran being that side's obvious example.

I am just muddled by Nel. IMO the prosecution case wasn't great, and in cross-examination he has just (again IMO) gone way too far way too quickly.

I hope another psychologist will be brought in, if it is pursued after the trial. I do find all that stroking, touchy feely stuff a bit questionable from a professional. I dunno what people would say if it was a man with a female client/patient.

As I predicted... in being [modsnip] Nel is proving stuff about himself rather than the case... and he is helping to engender sympathy for OP in the Judges eyes.... I think Nel needs a "tea-break" (cigarette)

How is he being 'nasty'?? This isn't a playground fight. He is cross-examining an alleged murderer. Should he be pouring tea for him and asking him how many sugars?

  • #450
Nasty? Shocking? If your watching a murder trial, your going to see a body, people

  • #451
N: ..to put on record. Your on a range with Derek....???

O: I wasn't....

Nel got the name wrong of who was there. It was Francoise someone?

Agree with you now. ;)

O says it was .50 ammo. He says person who said it was black talon is not correct. Says he was asked to go to range and that ammo was 'for protection'.

  • #454
oh my goodness. Poor family of RS. Nel tactless saying 'Her head exploded' but I understand what he is trying to do.

Oh gosh, those pictures.

I disagree, has to take gloves off. Look how OP could not say the words at the beginning of cross, he had to be pushed. Yes it was hard to watch & distressing to some but it was not bullying. Had Roux been the prosecutor you can bet he would have been more forceful than Nel, I mean he basically inferred every state witness a liar

Mod note:

I've had to edit/remove 4 posts within the past 15 minutes for name calling, lawyer bashing, hurling childish insults. It is not necessary and adds nothing to the discussion.

LAST WARNING. TO's next.
:bump:

Nel could quite easily have turned the zombie into a human by asking what type of species is a zombie before they become a zombie.

  • #457
Nel asks what zombie stopper refers to, OP explains it is to stop a zombie

N: To see what it's like shooting someone in the brain

OP gives long explanation how he enjoys shooting and he can't see how shooting a watermelon has to do with shooting people and he says what he says in the video 'was distatsteful'.

  • #458
It was shown on Sky news.

I think Nel's point here is he knew the damage up close of what ammunition is capable of doing yet still chose to load them into a weapon in his house to use on another human being.

Yep .. I don't think he went to far at all .. these were the injuries inflicted on Reeva, and they have to be shown .. they can't conduct a brutal murder trial without showing these things. Reeva's parents will be well prepared for this, I can't imagine how tough this must be for them, but I doubt very much they want all this to be treated with kid gloves because they want justice to be served, and if that means showing pix like this then I am sure they are prepared to do it.

Nel has picked up what I did, he was using the verbiage of his experts reconstruction during his testimony

As I mentioned, it's also regularly used in online games. COD etc.
