Witness has been handed OP's leg now, with the bit missing. Reveals he has never seen the whole leg before.

Nel is saying the front bit is missing but witness isn't showing us.

D: I don't know if that's the original sock.

N: Er no. It's not, but we'll get to that.

I'm beginning think Dixon has no concept re the low standard of his tests and reporting. I detect a tone of self-righteousness in his voice. An introvert thinker.

:( Although hired by OP team, he's supposed to be an 'impartial' 'expert'. He is supposed to do right by the investigation, whatever shade his 'findings' are.

Looks like they cleaned that leg up . No blood.

  • #367
op leg handled with no care whatsoever. v insensitive.

does this guy not know how oscar feels about his legs.

Aha!! I was waiting for that. The suspiciously clean socks....

Ah, he's taken off the sock. Tiny bit removed from the ball of the foot.

I wonder why they put an old-looking sock with a hole in it on the foot, as a replacement? Why not a new one?

And when the gun jammed as they tried to record a series of shots, Mr Dixon admitted he had suggested editing the sound of one single shot into the rapid fire sequence they needed.
Strangely, the prosecutor revealed he knew of Mr Dixon's bizarre suggestion because the witness had discussed it with a handful of people at a defence meeting only last week.

But how did he know? Does the prosecutor have a mole in the defence camp?

I'm interested in this idea of a 'mole' on the defence team. Much of the prosecutors case has been leaked (or released secretly to media) for months. The idea it could go both ways is very interesting.

D: I don't have a direct collection of exact wording - it was handed to me, I was informed it was a piece of the prosthesis, taken after it had been handed back.

  • #372
Oh god, don't .. the thought of that makes me feel ill .. I bet you're right though.

I sincerely hope not.
OP instructed this guy and failed to give him all the facts to try and hide the fact that he could see in the bedroom ,he should not now be allowed to use this in an appeal

D says he only received a bit of wood much later, when he realised he needed it for comparison.

N: You never answered me. Is it significant when the sample was taken?

D: No milady, it's not important to me..

  • #374
I have to still wonder why OP put his socks onto his prosthetics instead of just a pair of shoes.

Becauase you never know when you will need to kick a door, get varnish on your socks, have cleaners later clean it and so on. You cannot exist well in Oscar World without socks on your prosthesis

Interesting re-tweet by Dixon from Karyn Maughan.

RT @karynmaughan: Roux asks Vermeulen about former police officer Roger Dixon - expert for the defence. Is he competent? Vermeulen: yes

Probably why Nel is treating much more as an expert today and however Walter Mitty or Dixon of Dock Green he comes over, he does imo at least, come over as honest, thorough and very hard working. Reminds me of the audio "expert" in Trayvon Martin's trial rejected by the court as innovative technology, but that kind of rejection doesn't apply here because rules of evidence are different.

He scraped varnish sample, added Hexane and varnish to test tubes, then used a machine (same equipment used as in Forensic Lab in Silvertown).

He has a forensic report of analysis. On his computer at home. Nel says he does not have to fetch it.

D: I wasn't aware this leg could have been used to kick other doors in the house.

  • #377
Why did he say that about kicking other doors when Nel never asked him that?

  • #378
This is the only bit of his testimony where he is actually an expert in so will be interesting to see how Nel dismisses this bit.

The interpreter lady behind Dix is so cute. She is fighting the dreaded need for a nap.

D: ...a semi - lunate shape on top of that abrasion...

(I think that means a foot mark? on the door?)
