D says this was a test just to see the effect of bullet passing through an intermediate object.

Nel points out witness first said it was to test the grain/angle and wood splinters at first, and wants to know why angle was not measured.

D explains why he did not and; purpose of this test to replicate original shots. 'When we do that, we expect to get the same effect' (of wood splinters and where they would go).

Morning everyone catching up here. Sorry if this has already been mentioned but interesting to see who Mr Dixon has been following on Twitter, including Barry Bateman. I really struggle to have any sympathy for this guy. Did he learn nothing in 18 years in the police? I wonder why he left after 18 yrs..... I can hazard a guess, it is sure to come out.

Speaking of, I noticed Oscar giving Dixon the stink-eye yesterday.

Yesterday Nel asked him to produce several docs re evidence. I did notice that he didn't make notes at the time of the request and wondered if he was relying on counsel. Poor of counsel not to confirm the request with him.

N: How many witness boards did you sue?

D: My memory if four.

N: Did you photograph all of them? You only have one here?

D: Better than that, I think the boards will be available when expert gives evidence.

N: How do you know? Who told you? Who told you between today and yesterday?

Roux up: We were requested to produce them...

Nel: I asked THIS witness milady. I want to know how he knows? I never asked the defence for the photos? How do you know defence made photos available to us?

D: I work with defence...I was unaware....if they were not handed over to pros, it would have been my fault...

N: You can't get away - you put it as a fact, it was handed over. I wanna know who told you?

D: Milady, I made a copy on my memory stick...I handed it over to counsel...I had no discussion....

Nel asks why he would hide that, why he isn't giving a proper answer: It was an innocent answer. Why would you not provide and innocent answer?

D: Milady, I apologise I can't lay it out stick by stick...

And Nel's back to 'Who told you witness boards would be handed in?'

Witness says 'assumption they would be used'.

Assuming its like an American court, I believe so...but we never saw that so its not my belief it is like America. Maybe that occurred pretrial though? But really, if you were Nel, would you want him not to testify? Dude's awesome for the prosecution's case.
