Anyone knows, where "my" Alex Crawford from Sky is? There is no live update of her twitter account?

I think she is/has been in Nigeria or nearby and has been reporting on Sky TV re the abduction of the many young girls. Possibly flying back and no access to twitter. Only a guess.

My dog had to show the boilerman out for me.....I feel terribly rude. I didn't even offer him a cup of tea.

:floorlaugh:....that is funny....you have a very smart doggy.

Nel: We had 200ml of food in her stomach after 8 hours. That must mean something and that Sayman is correct ... She says that's speculative.

Nel: His evidence is more probable? She says it's speculative.

I would say that as a non-expert in the field of pathology, she has been doing nothing but speculating... bring Dixon back, at least he was fun to watch. :)

Guten Morgen!
There are priorities, Zwiebel: first OP, then nothing for awhile, then boilerman!

She's too pro-OP for my liking anyway ..

Your doggie has been sooooooooooo very accomodating during this trial (moreso than most spouses :giggle:). Give him a treat from all of us please.

This is not the most amazing witness for the defense, in my opinion. She’s not a forensic pathologist, she is a clinician and she stated she appreciated and respected the report and work of State pathologist Saayman.

It seems all she wants to say that it is too speculative to name a time of food, quoting from Knights. She says this again and again and again.

Yet she also states that the consensus from the general group of general clinicians is that 6 hours will remove most food from normal people.

And Nel made a good point: the expert witness seemed to agree that with the amount of food 200ml left in Steenkamp's body, so, at the normal rate of digestion of 10% of food left after 4 hours, means at eight hours before (Pistorius version when they had diner) Steenkamp would have had to eat 4 litres of food.

Yikes. Even if it was half to be absolutely conservative, than Steenkamp ate 2 litres of food at 7pm.Waaaay too much food, highly improbable.

As the expert witness just said: “That’s a lot.”

Just a quick question ... Seeing as gastric breakdown continues after death (is this correct?), at what time did Dr. S. investigate the contents of Reeva's stomach.

What I'm getting at is if Reeva last ate at 7pm, then the stomach contents should be well digested and undetectable. However, if Reeva ate later that night, then there's a chance the stomach contents would be present and identifiable?

So:

Does gastric breakdown continue after death?
What time did Dr. S examine Reeva's stomach contents?

TIA

He's covering his bases. Either RS was awake and ate later than OP's testimony states, or there is the potential that anxiety or an argument could have slowed gastric emptying.

But for "anxiety" to delay Reeva's gastric emptying for so many hours, if my calcs are correct, and using Saayman's 2-3 hours to digest a light meal as a starting point, wouldn't that mean Reeva and OP would have had to have been arguing solidly from around 8:00pm, latest 9 or 10pm (by 11 according to Saayman's testimony gastric emptying would have already taken place so too late for anxiety to delay it), onwards until her death at around a quarter past 3:00 pm ?

And how does that fit with internet connections, texts, etc. or any witness testimony. And would Reeva argue for, according to my calcs, at least 5 hours (that's one hell of an argument) just 3 months into a relationship or would she up and go, or at least call a friend for support or to come and collect her.

I was quite disappointed with her last OP report. I intensely dislike bias in journalistic reports but it seems to be everywhere. I think they should be required to produce a factual report only in court cases. Pigs flying springs to mind!

Nel said 11.45 reeva was handed to mortuary service that would include being kept refrigerated which then stops the food digestives

Ahhh, but even IF there is a delay, it doesn't mean she was doing yoga and sleeping. Because no one can predict how much weight the judge will give expert testimony, its important for Nel to establish other factors could account for a delay, especially since the science isn't exact.

Please pardon errors as posted via Tapatalk with a less than stellar user.

Yes, though I wish he would have asked if intimate relations could have had any bearing on the digestive emptying... I realize RS was a Christian, but she was almost 30, thought she was in love, had said she was no prude and heck even OP had been logged in to a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 site the evening before, surely that topic shouldn't be off limits? I'd like to know if there had been any evidence of violence that way... there was the laceration/scrape on her breast pointing to the possibility. I realize her family may not want to know but if it would help put away the man who killed her...

I think we are back...

It is Mrs Von S?????

A social worker.

  • #257
And also a probation officer.

  • #258
Next witness Ingrid S, social worker with Dept of Social Development. The morning he appeared in court (? bail) she was asked to speak to OP. She assumed it was for emotional support. Nel is going to love this.

Court asked her to speak to the accused during the bail appli.

He did the PM on the 15th, so it was at least 24 hours later.
