I reckon. It seems it's his mother's fault as she was anxious. I hate this BS too.

One long winded character reference, where OP will be portrayed as a victim of circumstance & once again the REAL victim in this case RS will be swept to the side.

Whilst we are in a teabreak...anyone else having problems with the Thanks button?

It usually disappears when you've posted something and others have responded while you're doing that. A quick refresh of the page should sort it - if you're on an ipad I have no idea though :D

Have done at times, when refreshing the page corrects it.

the sad fact is, that Proff Vorster has no way of telling if Oscars 'anxiety ' is since he pulled the trigger , or of an earlier date.. no way of telling. no argument he is anxious NOW, and in a disorderly way, for sure. as he should be..

You could say all this sort of rubbish about any killer .. it's not proof of whether they did or didn't kill intentionally.
Indeed. Ted Bundy grew up thinking his mother was his sister. Jeff Dahmer had a pretty average family but was traumatised by his parent's divorce. Everybody's got a history that helps to shape who they become. Many of us here though had dysfunctional and even sometimes abusive childhoods. As such, I don't think this testimony is going to go far to sway the hearts and minds of the WS community.
Just a hunch, from past cases.

It's when the thread moves very fast. If you make a post or refresh, it should fix it.

Psychologist on WhoopWhoop saying the OP might have a psychotic break if he is incarcerated.

OP does not have a history of anxiety disorder (AD), this is something new that the current witness has diagnosed him to have. From what she is describing, it sounds more like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) than AD, IMO.

Interesting too that he is not on any medications to help him cope with AD, such as Zanax. He is taking an anti depressant, but that was prescribed for his mental health issue(s) that he developed after he killed Reeva.

I missed her introduction. Is this lady a psychiatrist or a psychologist?

I have just read that his mother was an alcoholic. Did I miss that in the testimony?

I suppose the risk of Oscar firing four black talon bullets at someone else at the sound of a noise in a bathroom and killing them will have to be weighed up against the risk of Oscar having a psychotic break , in a safe and secure area..

I ran across this other day. It's short; 3 min?, commentary Clinical psychologist Leonard Carr, taped while OP was on the stand. This guy discusses his "take" on the gun - and all the gun action - and what part they've played in OP's life. I thought it was interesting.

Hmmmm….Anxiety !!!! I know everybody works differently - however... My partner (call him my husband) - has prostate cancer. He lost a daughter at birth. Had another daughter who was born with severe cerebral palsy at 23 weeks of age - who is now 22.

My partners ex wife has severe bi polar disorder and unable to care for their beautiful daughter - who resides with us. I have 2 x young adult children and also live next door to my ex husband …..sounding very dysfunctional now!!!! Work full time in aviation (I am an only child) and also care for my 90 year old mother.

Silly isn't we all feel we are blessed with such an amazing extended but strange family unit (yes ex husband next door included).

Have we ever thought about inflicting pain on any body else. AAARH that would be NO !

We have just booked another trip back to Africa (our favourite place on earth) - in September of this year. Hope to see Ozzie baba - where he belongs !!!

I think that's great they allow dogs in :-D Where there are dogs, it's always a nicer place ;-)

I agree wholeheartedly. In our state capital, dogs are not even allowed to sit at café tables on the sidewalk. However, my dog is under permanent house arrest because of her propensity to kill other dogs. But, she does have an anxiety problem. Her anti-anxiety coat lessens her fear of thunderstorms, but she still wants to kill all other dogs!! All remedial suggestions greatly received.

Maybe OP should consider permanently wearing an anti-anxiety coat.

No, that was mentioned. Along with her anxiety over security, and sleeping with a gun.

I hope Nel's questioning goes something like this:

Nel "Is it a psychiatrist's job to always find a disorder when they're interviewing a killer?"

Dr Vorster "Yes"

Nel "Thank you, I have no further questions for this witness"
