So, last witness:

Hugely qualified Prof who has extensive medical/emotional/personal knowledge about OP.

Says he is not allowed to actually reveal any of those details about him though

Wants to use an email from ex-pat in London to support his expertise and somehow apply what he's saying to OP.

Even though she is not qualified in stress response and has never observed it in OP anyhow

Seems to sum up the defense witnesses nicely in general, but that is jmo.

Are they coming back after lunch or is court adjourned?

I am afraid that I fully agree with you. lol

It will be harder to argue that he snapped in a rage and killed her purposely now.

How can that be determined from OP's words(no info as to who else they interviewed) to them, has he started to tell the truth now that he's on meds, which btw he wasn't on at the time of the murder? I wonder if he could pass a lie detector?

the guy on whoop whoop just said court was adjourned until tomorrow. But the judge just said lunch break, right?

THE FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE has got a new name. It's now called the fight, flight or freeze response. Stress experts around the world are adding the word freeze to the name in deference to the fact that instead of fighting or fleeing, sometimes we tend to freeze (like a deer in the headlights) in traumatic situations.

The fight or flight response (in its original form) is about survival. It's about hope. We activate it when we believe there's a chance we can outrun or outfight our attackers. The freeze response however, gets activated when's there's no hope.

Can we take a moment during the break to touch on the mental health report-if he is a suicide risk why wasn't he held? TBH, I didn't buy the intitial headlines about the report yesterday anyway-there was no way OP was going to get a clean bill of mental health-he wouldn't have committed this murder if he was good to go. He oozes tightly wound and always has to me.

Thank you for indulging me-I am certain you guys dissected this already and I will go back to read.

[modsnip] may have a posh accent, but he's a streetfighter in terms of his courtroom tactics. Blatantly introducing obvious hearsay and when called on it, having prepared in advance copies of a civil case regarding a real estate transaction from 1918 to support his argument???

I am a bit frustrated with the judge. Doesn't she already know what is hearsay and what isn't? That would seem to be basic knowledge for an experienced judge.

I'm not sure if this was 'after' he killed Reeva, I got the impression it was but I could be wrong ..

Sorry to do this a second time today, but I posted this at the end of the last thread also. This meeting has been mentioned so many times today that I thought I should bring it forward.

"We know the meeting OP had on the morning of the 13th was important but I believe it was of far greater significance than originally thought and quite possibly the original event that triggered his state of mind for the events that subsequently unfolded.

OP testified “I had to leave Pretoria early to skip the traffic. I couldn’t be late for this meeting. There were many people involved”. Who were all these people? One of Reeva’s whatsapp messages wished him well for the meeting he was going to have with his financial advisor. It was important to the point where he left home very early to skip the traffic and yet still managed to reach Jo’burg at least an hour early and this enabled him to have a coffee with a friend. Could it be that he was about to lose a major sponsor and the financial advisor was going to speak to him following the meeting? Reeva said in a later whatsapp message “It’s a difficult thing to try to console you baba because it’s a ****** thing and you’re a nice guy. I guess these things happen and we can just hope they work out for the best. You are an amazing person with so many blessings and you are more than cared for. Your health and future monetary blessings far outweigh this hurdle I can promise u that”. In yet another whatsapp message she says “Thank you baba. Let me know if you’d like to spend time with M or Carl. I’m sure you maybe feel like some family tonight.” Obviously something had gone seriously wrong at this meeting".

I can't believe what I've just been witnessing. I can't believe that, in a high profile trial like this, the Judge has to take a break to decide if evidence that is obviously inadmissible hearsay is inadmissible hearsay or not. Oh dear. There's cautious, but there's over-cautious. I feel that Reeva and her family need a more robust judge.

I am also frustrated by this judge because she should already know what is hearsay evidence and what is not. Having to defer to her assistants does not give me much trust in her. IMO it is very elementary and it will be telling as to what side she is on if she allows it.

I'm pretty sure the report said words to the effect of "he should be treated for these conditions so as to reduce risk of suicide". One of the conditions mentioned was Depression. I think the other one was "an adjustment disorder". With untreated Depression there is a risk for suicide.

I agree with you. I wish we had more info. I do think he was losing a major sponsor or two though. And once that happens, they often create a downward spiral. Like rats jumping from a sinking ship.
