That Southern style breakfast was wonderful, by the way! Caught a glimpse as I was rushing here!

It was never put to the Van der Mewre that she didn't hear an argument.

BIB
Nel appears to have made a mistake saying it was never put to her as per the transcript I made of EVDM's testimony:

Roux: The fact is, you never heard any arguing.

VDMW: I did.

Roux: Or, let me put it to you again, take you back, all you heard was a, I'm reading it again, (reads Afrikaans), now translated, that was (reads Afrikaans): You heard a woman's voice, you could not hear the words or the language spoken, and it was "far from your house". That is what you heard.

VDMI: Yes, that's what I said, but I must say that I know a woman's voice, and there's many movements between a woman's voice, especially when we become angry, or cross my lady.

Roux: But here it's far away, you can't hear words, you can't hear language.

VDMI: To tell the honest truth, my lady, I do not know from which direction those sounds were coming from because our time at home is to... to fall asleep.

The accused determines what's significant, re: the cord of fan. lol

  • #184
Nel: He had to create time for the deceased to get to the bathroom....his version is impossible. It cannot be reasonably true. I started the cross with the hair clippers being plugged in, one fan ....I pointed out there
was no room for the other fan. Then he changed his version.

Then the accused resorted to "I do not have a good memory at the moment."....it's just not good enough.

Nel: He's not thinking of telling the court the truth. He's just thinking of saving his life.

Nel: Van der Merwe was never told she couldn't have heard a woman arguing.

Nel got it wrong because Roux did put it to EVDM that she had not heard "arguing" which I also find difficult to find since without hearing a 2nd voice you cannot know for sure.

Nel calles OP's defence "a farce" now

#OscarTrial Nel: if the defence counsel, Mr Roux, had this version of the moved fans, why not put it to state witnesses? BB

  • #191
Nel: Accused evidence was a farce; He purportedly moved the fans to were the duvet is....He pointed on the duvet to where he put the fan - and not just one...both of them. It is SO improbable he would have brought them in that far.

And Nel asks why it was not put to Von R by Roux, that the fans had been moved? (by police)

Nel now says he gave OP a chance; asked him if there was anything wrong/ he'd like to say about the photo first and he didn't.

Nel: Snowball effect - you tell one lie and you have to keep going. Move one piece of the mosaic, you have to move the rest. Having said fans were there, he then had to explain why duvet was there now... It's not a version - it's a kneejerk reaction: "The duvet was not on the floor then" (OP said).

Teatime!

Mr Z knew I was missing the trial, but 'didn't want to disturb what I was doing', so didn't say.
