Nel wants a twenty minute early break. Masipa says she will allow this "indulgence" yet she reminds counsel she must be done by this week.

That seems to incredibly insensitive. Finally for the first time, after amazing weeks of defense delays in the trial, we get to hear briefly about the victim. And now Masipa is clear she is on a deadline for the next case and needs it OVER soon.

Wow, this is bad optic for SA justice.

Roux only wants to ask 2 questions. Can Nel finish today. Nel replies that he must have the time. Masipa says she must finish this week. Nel says he'll be finished by tomorrow afternoon. No pressure. Jeeez.

We'll have to see if this is true. Roux likes to underestimate everything.

Kim Martin did justice for her cousin Reeva today. She was her voice, and it was a very, very powerful one.

Masipa rushing Nel once again, saying she has commitments next week, and the week thereafter, and the week thereafter... so what? If sentencing has to carry on after, it will have to carry on. Didn't she say during the trial that she didn't want to rush anything? And now here she is, trying to disguise a sigh while Nel asks for a paltry 20-minute adjournment so that Kim can recover before being lampooned by Roux.

And it didn’t bother Masipa once that "experts" gave Nel their reports 5 minutes before giving evidence? It’s a joke.

very annoying how she is now putting pressure on. compromising the pt time...
she has given roux over 2 and a half days.
her verdict needs to be included too - on friday.

also, roux trying to dictate how the pt runs their show. very arrogant.

this also seems biased towards defence, in terms of time allowed, and the judge's demeanour.

Exactly!

OMG! Masipa has no compassion.

She's "not available" doncha know??!!

Why is it that every request Nel makes is an "indulgence" of the Court, but Roux can run roughshod all over the Court without so much as a blink from this Judge!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

That's odd. OP's head just emerged from his hands and he looked completely dry eyed.

Was he taking a nap now that this isn't all about him?

He probably knows he doesn't need to show "remorse" now because it's already done and dusted.

Vile man

I bet he actively hates Reeva now. It's all her fault that he's been inconvenienced for weeks and months, and that it's cost his uncle so much money.

I do wonder if his uncle gives him a hard time at home. He may be rich as Croesus, but he can't be pleased to have had to waste so much money on this, and worse - so much time. I'm sure he has much better things to do than be sat in court day after day.

The judge has already shown her hand

I wish Nel hadn't said he'd be finished by tomorrow afternoon. We know how Masipa likes to hold him to his word. I think Nel is feeling pressured to zip along and get it over with, when he should be allowed to take his time and let Reeva's voice be heard without Masipa trying to silence it yet again.

My Lady didn't seem too emotionally touched by the grieving cousins testimony. She is all in for OP.

  • #515
She's been on the stand just over an hour. How long was Van Zyl allowed to go through 100 pages of how great OP is?

Phew! heartbreaking. The impact on the court should be immeasurable when considering how caring and altruistic Reeva was. Also in the distress and trauma the family are still feeling about the death and the manner in which she lost her life. If that doesn't get him at least 10 years, then nothing will. Pistorius family appeared unmoved, when most of us, all over the world and insulated behind our screens were in tears. I hope the court considers carefully and ensures that justice is done here.

Nel has THREE days left, so Masipa should quit badgering him and show a bit of respect for Reeva's family. This has been very emotional for them today, anyone with a heart could see that, except for Masipa, who thinks a 20-minute adjournment for a clearly distressed witness is an indulgence, while half a day's adjournment for OP's sniffling is perfectly fine.

BBM

That's exactly what's gone on throughout this trial - the SA injustice system has tried to silence Reeva's voice, even after OP silenced her voice by shooting & killing her.

Keep fighting Nel!!! Keep fighting!!!
