Chad, to his daughter (after JJ's body was found), talking about whether the police would allow them access to the home that evening: "I think they'll let [the kids] back [into the house]. There's nothing in the house."

Prior is a nitpicker! Also, technologically handicapped, it seems. He asks the Judge to enter duplicate exhibits so he can use the one on his computer even tho the State offered to leave their computer up in case he wanted to replay portions of the video with Chad in the cop car

Doesn't Chad say to Emma in the police car that he isn't coming back? At that point he wasn't even arrested, just detained.

Yeah I detected a bit of sass in that response. "Judge I can use my own laptop." (paraphrase).

Worlds dumbest criminal.

I actually haven't listened to Chad speak that much so his voice is rather fresh to me.

He has the charisma of a wet rag. Extremely flat affect. There is zero "variety" in his voice. What makes this guy so attractive?

Me when my child tells me that human remains have been found in my back yard:
What?!! Where?? Are you serious? You can't be serious? How old? What is it? Where was it? JFC, are you serious? What did they say????!!!
Chad Daybell:

I have spent too much time trying to figure out what makes Chad attractive to anyone.
The closest to a possible answer is Lori finally had someone tell her she was a Goddess and had powers that no other person had. Maybe it is the worst pickup line in the universe that did it with other women. "Hey baby, you and I were married in a past life."

$9,000 is probably right.

But why aren't they upset that the children's bodies were found on the property? Why aren't they shocked? I don't hear any of that.

I have no words.

I never thought I could still be THIS flabbergasted over new evidence.

Emma is waaay checked out there. Totally able to compartmentalize taking over finances for jailed father who won't be coming back soon, he says. All while joking about luminal, learning there was one body so there is probably another.... with no emotional response to that!

She compares herself favorably to Colby? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 arrogant, but she is better prepared to earn a living because her mother was Tammy, not Lori.

Speaking of Colby and Lori's communication account, etc., she seems to know her new step family very well. Which goes back to her masterful compartmentalization. It's unbelievable!

I'm going to need some time to get around to celebrating what great evidence this is for the prosecution. Because right now, I'm too shook up by how cray-cray that interaction was.

Emma wrote the book on compartmentalization. She said the LEO told her they found human remains and she retorted with, "well there's been several dogs buried back there." Then she states the LEO fired back with, "All due respect, I can tell what human remains are." Holy moly.

Has Colby ever been asked about his relationship/communications with his stepfamily? I was under the impression he didn't really know them. Maybe Emma knows about this only because Chad and Lori told her?

Apparently she was communicating with the Jezebel Lori after she was incarcerated...

Especially knowing my spouse's kids have been missing but are supposedly are ok but just in a safe place we can't reveal. If I had actually bought that bogus story and the kids turned up on my property like that, there would be a GIANT reaction.

Lori was looking for someone who would worship her. Chad wanted a blonde bombshell. Match made in heaven.

When you are a narcissist, the only thing that matters is that people in your life make you the center of their universe. Charles Vallow was tired of it, relationships with someone like LVD are exhausting. They just suck up energy.

CD was new, and worshipped LVD as she deserved. Bonus, gave her a reason to be free from JJ and Tylee that was righteous and wonderful.

She and her husband were trying to help Lori because the story they told themselves is the children were being hidden during a custody battle. They felt it unfair she was jailed.

Of course, that was already a stretch. But I kinda see people believing it if they have no reason to think about it too hard.

But buried bodies? That should have illicited a much different response than it got, even if the first thought was not that they must be Lori's children.

Also, Emma did not report arguing with the officer that since there was one there must be 2. Why? Isn't 1 illicit grave enough? Or why 2 and not 3 or 7 graves, KWIM? She was chill with the thought that they'd find one more. Not zero more- not several more.

She entered this conversation with the thought that her new step mom was hiding her children and in jail for it. And from that lept to one and likely another body in Dad's yard, and DAD (not Lori) won't be back from jail any time soon.

She knew on some comparted away level exactly what was going on.

Imagine praying every night for an earthquake….
That still amazes me. Never mind all the other damage and death it would cause, at least Charles would be gone. Sheesh.

Chad's laptop is angled away from his body in the direction opposite his lawyer's chair, so his screen can't be seen by anyone but him.

Honestly, what I heard in her conversation was an insecure/anxious preoccupied attachment. She (the child) is the one reaching out with "I love you so much"-es to him (the parent); shouldn't the parent be the one reassuring the child? She tiptoes around what's going on but stops short of actually asking him about his involvement, as if she's afraid of how he's going to react. Even her put-down of Colby is framed in such a way as to boost CD's ego -- "YOU raised us better." In everything she says, she is seeking his approval.

Prior constantly saying he is confused is rubbish!

I also cannot stand the way he says "okay" after witnesses answer.

I’m no huge Prior fan but Wixom for the State had difficulty with his own laptop and flash drive, and the Court decided to change the flash drive and file being admitted into evidence because of it. It “just” worked previously on his computer he said, though. Not sure if that’s “technically handicapped” but I’m a bit of a stickler for trying to hold both sides to the same standards lol.

In his defense, he’s a one man shown (obviously of his own volition) and the state has 4 at the table and several others behind the scenes. JMOO and it’s likely seen as a Prior defense which isn’t my goal

Tuned out it wasn't the same exhibit after all! He misidentified it and it turned out to be video of an officer and Chad

JMOO.
I find it pretty interesting that the State wanted JR evidence and discussions of it be deemed “irrelevant” and was a bit surprised at the Court agreeing and extending that to also cover some details of AC. It’s hard to ignore several exhibits and references in court filings, in both Lori and Chad’s case files, to them both (and referenced by both sides). But now the State wants it deemed irrelevant and the Court agrees.

I thought this class offered by the Federal Defenders of Idaho was interesting (and relatable) to some of Prior’s arguments. They are offering an upcoming class/seminar where part of the discussion involved “We will discuss the government's frequent misuse of evidence such as prior bad acts, coconspirator statements, impeachment by criminal conviction, and expert testimony. We will also examine hearsay exceptions frequently exploited by prosecutors.” Link https://id.fd.org/news-and-events

There’s a few appellate cases that raised this as part of their appeal, I may read up on them again and share some here if any interest. I thought Prior did a good job voicing his arguments for the record even though he likely felt that the Court would not change their ruling. I think the co conspirator language and references to AC, by the State themselves, is interesting as they now seem to want to shut the door a bit on what defense can argue regarding Alex. JMOO again.
