The prostitute shows he led a life different from what his friends, family and co-workers saw. moo

I haven't posted on this thread thus far but my feelings are this:
Forget the decomposition smell, if a toddler wets his diaper in a car that is hot... You're gonna smell it. There are other points that make me scratch my head ( Ross backing into his parking spot) but none will convince me as much as a soiled diaper after being left in the heat for 7 hours. On road trips I could tell (as a smoker) that my kids diaper was dirty just from the lack of air circulation in a car.

Stoddard had a great case when he testified during the bond hearing. Everybody believed him and that is why many people thought Ross was guilty from day one. The defense has done a great job of discrediting many of the witnesses testimony so far. Unless the prosecutors have some bombshell testimony in the next few weeks there might be a few jurors who will look at the evidence and decide not guilty.

I do believe that Ross is negligent of Cooper's death but not premeditated murder.

bbm

I think most people do! That's what gets me. Instead of focusing on what they DO have enough evidence for, they are going wildly after the other charges. They had a (former?) prostitute on stand talking about prime retail and men getting their jollies. That makes them look ridiculous. It could really hamper the jury's opinions. I hope the jury can see past the silliness in relation to the "evidence" of premeditated murder when considering felony murder.

I can't use the reply function for some reason.

Matou, my grandson is the same age as Cooper was when he died. His speech is coming on but I don't think he would repeat phrases a while after he heard them. He is saying things like mama, daddy, car, cat, juice etc. I'm not saying its impossible but in my opinion he would have to hear these phrases over and over before he would start saying them at other times.

What difference does it make if the car seat was a little too small for Cooper?

Well for me the factual testimony. Stoddard stated at the 7/2/14 Bond Hearing that Cooper exceeded the owners manual by several inches , Then asked by State if they used an aide .. which Stoddard testified yes they put a doll in the car seat and the doll was shorter than Cooper and you could still see the head. Stoddard referred to CSI Grimstead in his testimony.

Factually, crown to rump Cooper height would NOT make his head exceed the top of the car seat as Stoddard made it sound in his testimony. He was 14' from bottom to crown of head sitting in car seat, measurements of where his bottom was to top of car seat was 19 1/4 inches. Difference of 5 1/4 inches. Nor was Cooper over the weight, he was 21 lbs 5.4 oz iirc and the weight was testified in court to be up to 30 iirc.

Yet, this photo was taken by CSI Grimstead the day prior on 7/2/14 ... CSI Grimstead testified and it was very clear watching and listening to his testimony that he did not realize the difference in the placement of the car seat vs how it originally was on 6/18/14. CSI Grimstead (at time CSI Tech, now a Detective) admitted on cross that any thing after that 7/2/14 was not factual to 6/18/14. There was a lift extension on bottom of car seat that was orig lower, it was raised if I understand correctly in the 7/2/14 CSI photos, thus making the car seat lean back towards the front seats more than it was in measurements of 6/18/14 changing the view and factual information.

This is very important, because that info was used 7/3/14 Bond Hearing and also was used in making the animated 3D video the State plans to use.
jmho from listening to testimony in hearings, trial and looking at the autopsy report only

she's been subpoenaed, correct? i think that heifer will still be sympathetic to him.

Does anyone know if the wife testifies for the defense, can the prosecution bring in the recordings from her 1st visit with JRH and question her about the conversation they had? Can they show the video to the jurors?

Thanks to everyone posting here. I have been interested in this case from the beginning.

For another data point on the backing the car up issue- I never thought about it until reading this thread. I have a 4-door sedan. I use my mirrors to back up - rearview and side. I wouldn't be able to see any more through the back window or down the sides if I turned my head. And it would be way more uncomfortable as well.

If I happen to be parallel parking on a street in front of a store with large windows, I will often look at the reflection of my car in the window to see how close my bumper is to the cars in front and behind me along the curb.

someone earlier asked for a picture of Cooper in the car seat, I found one:

But this wasn't a current photo iirc and you can see his little leg near the area where straps snap in

ETA: but looking at the photo referenced here, looks like strap position may be the same as in this one. His teachers did say he had started a growth spurt, mostly in his leg length recently

How many murderers would search murder or homicide? I'm thinking even the dumbest ones wouldn't?

I thought the questions about searching for child cruelty were just dumb.

I can't think of even one case where a parent was found guilty of child cruelty and had to google to find out how to abuse their children. There's a laundry list of terms the defense threw out that made no sense from a premeditated point of view.

Besides, they were just questioning the people who archived and write-protected the storage devices. They aren't the actual investigators who found the incriminating evidence.

I failed my first driving test because I didn't turn around once when I did my reverse around a corner. The examiner said I could have run a small child over because I didn't check all angles before and during the manouvere. I am now in the habit of looking everywhere when I reverse my car. RH didn't have parking sensors. He said he didn't see Cooper when he parked so he must have parked by using his mirrors only. I think he would have seen the baby if he had turned around.

Imo. Cooper was 18 months old.

So Ross would know what its like to be child free .

Now if he wasn't a gigolo before. Then why would he think he could be a gigolo once killing his 18 month old son?

If anything. You kill the wife and take the government extra assistance for the son while getting other women that admires the single dad thing.

Jmo

Ideally, how about JRH kills nobody, asks for a divorce from his wife, set up a visitation schedule with Cooper and work out child support or joint custody.

They only asked him because he offered it. Jmo.

Because no teacher will ask you to pickup anything. Especially if you are running late everyday.

And if they do ask you ; Then that is very telling of the professionalism or the thoughts that it was okay to use Ross as a errand boy.

So imo. Ross told them that it was okay and he would pick them up food when needed.

Maybe he did it so they will treat Cooper with extra care.

Idk

BBM. Eh... JRH made a big deal of making himself look like father of the year, so I imagine that gave the day care workers the impression that he is more willing to be helpful than other people would be.

I have no ill will toward the teachers. They were the ones who were practically raising Cooper, watching him grow up and helping him learn, and they seem a lot more emotional about his death than his own parents were. That is really really sad.

According to the defense opening statements, it was when Ross had to make a hard turn at an intersection and that is when he noticed Cooper

Was changing lanes to get to the far right lane, turned around to see if clear when noticed Cooper and pulled over. (Opening Testimony - Not evidence I know but that where I saw it, and Kilgore used the State exhibit big board .. Kilgore said was a 10 lane wide road. JMHO

Which jmho changing lanes like that (moving over to the right) vs going to make a Left turn(at U turn) and looking to the right either through windshield or passenger window to see if something coming is 2 totally different things. JMHO

Respectfully snipped for only my quote my portion. Respectfully bbm, I agree to disagree. It has been testified that LH picked up Cooper in evenings most times. IF both did not have a car seat in ea car, how are the one that took him, going to get the car seat to the other one? Leave it where ever? My kids have carseats in their veh, and I keep them in my veh also, in case I need to pick up from school/daycare or whatever. True some people do only have one and switch them around. But that is not what happened in this case, they each had one in their car. Also per the measurements and height and weight from testimony (on car seat) and autopsy report, Cooper was within the guide lines of being in the car seat that RH had in his car, that Cooper died in. That is factual from evidence, not my opinion. Not meaning to sound snippy or sarc.

I think you two are having a miscommunication. When she said :
"Thanks Mimi. It makes no sense, though. Ross would have no need for a baby seat of any kind when Cooper's away with his mother. Simply put the front facer back in his car when the baby returns. Double-switching is nonsensical imo."

When she said the BBM above, I think she was referring to when Cooper went out of state with his mother for a vacation. LH had said she 'switched' out the seats when she took him on a family visit/vacation. But if they were out of town, why would she need to put her car seat into his car at all? That makes no sense. She could have just taken the one she wanted and left the other behind.

Did anyone catch the ruling about Det. Galimore's report? It sounds like it will be admitted into evidence first thing Monday morning. Did I hear that correctly?

YES!!!! :judge: :genie: Don't you know that Stoddard testimony just got more relevant lol. His Reports will also now be allowed in. I have to get me some headphones cant find mine, Kilgore is not speaking into the mic and part of me wonders if that is on purpose lol noticed the mic moved on the podium couple times. Maybe making harder for cough people watching live stream? Did I also hear the word Obstruction? Have to relisten. I hope they bring him back as a Def witness.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am kind of fuming about today's testimony.

Am I hallucinating, or did I just have to sit through hours of defense cross examination asking the same questions over and over again, and expecting a different response? I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the defense really has nothing to go on if their sum total argument is baffling the jury by asking the wrong witness the wrong set of questions because they weren't the ones who analyzed the data (hint: the detectives did).

Each and every time they go back to portraying JRH as father of the year I die a little inside. Really? There's countless people out there who know that looks can be deceiving and that parents can put on a show to keep up appearances. IMO it's very possible that neither of them wanted Cooper, but neither could live with the idea of their co-workers and family viewing them as failures if they gave Cooper up for adoption. At this point, I'm beginning to believe they both planned this so they could split the insurance money and go separate ways without a baby to tie them together.

I do not think its absurd. He admitted he did not look at everything, and the prosecution is emphasizing that. Just like an officer or witness who was potentially too overcome with emotion at the scene because a child is lying dead on the ground did not make note of a smell. If a smell existed and they didnt notice it, it doesnt mean it was not present.

Uh... there was no testimony or evidence that the veteran detective was so overcome with emotion that he couldn't smell and that is not a reasonable inference, either.

If there's incriminating evidence on the computers, then the state should just present it; it's absurd to hint that the data is on the computer by asking a witness if it's possibly there even though the witness searched and didn't find it.

That's not evidence.

Thank you. However there was a discrepancy about how it was going to admitted . The State wanted to stipulate, but the Defense said not so fast. Because of the initial ruling in front of the jury, the DT wanted an explanation to the jury at the time it was entered into evidence. Judge Staley said she was going to do neither. She then sort of mumbled as she struggled to read her notes. I understood enough to know it was going to be admissible, but I couldn't make out the terms of that. It sounded like it would happen on Monday.

ETA - There was no mention of bringing the witness back to testify. I wonder if that is still on the table.

I had hard time hearing but she is going to allow in and as you stated she said something about will do first thing Monday. JMHO will be better for Def to bring him back as a witness with the already admitted report into evidence and impeach his testimony again. Remember this was right before the break for the Hurricane and all those delays and weekend. This is the one that the State said in front of the jury that the Def was trying to say witness was lying with out calling a liar. Judge at that time did say the witness could be brought back. JMHO the Defense will really want the jury to remember this testimony. JMHO
