So why didn't Ross smell the urine soaked diaper?

When my kids nap in the afternoon and have a wet diaper the room smells. There is nothing that will convince me that he didn't smell something that didn't clue him in that cooper was still in the car.

I've smelled dead people at work in well ventilated rooms with air conditioning. There was a smell IMO. Exactly as the ME described (if not more)- a stale musty smell. He said there would be a smell.

I saw it when they introduced other angles. (I think it was during the testimony of the guy who cleared up and enlarged the video.) It was not something I could clearly see before that. Hopefully, they jury will request a viewing of all videos.

Yes I saw those videos too. I can't see him turn in any video.

It's interesting that MK is talking about everyone's behavior, with the exception of the defendant's, during his closing statement. Deflection from Ross's own actions is the only way to a not guilty verdict IMO. However, it is also very telling.

Will hear any mention of FBS? Ross's fatigue? His stress? I bet not.

He's knocking down the State's case for premeditation (malice), brick by brick. Very effectively, IMO.

Kilgore talks about the "stench of death" a few detectives testified about. "They reported smelling what they wanted to smell. Why? Because it fit their theory."

Great point!!!!! LE suspecting Leanna, though their theory was RH wanted to be free of her. so she conspired with Ross to kill Cooper so Ross could be free of her. Awesome exposure of their utter failure to even think through their own case against RH.

To me, it shows that LE did think things through by looking at VARIOUS SCENARIOS. They did not just glom on to one theory and look only at Ross.

To me, it shows that LE did think things through by looking at VARIOUS SCENARIOS. They did not just glom on to one theory and look only at Ross.

Exactly and Kilgore said she was a suspect at times over the two years. At times.

In his methodical examination of the prosecution case, Maddox turns now to the incendiary claim by detectives that they smelled the "stench of death" at the scene. He notes that no one noted that stench in reports until many months later. And then he cites a medical examiner's testimony:

"I don't believe you have decomposition smell per se," Kilgore says. "I don't believe the odor would be the same as the odor of a dead body. ... Maybe a stale odor of breathing, urine, flatulence."
Then he ridicules what he describes as Stoddard's backpedaling on the stand. "Well, when I said decomposition, I didn't mean that like in a medical sense. I didn't really mean decomposition when I said decomposition. He finally agreed that it's possible he didn't smell a thing. Hardly the resounding smell of death we hard about in opening statements.

"Those detectives most invested in the case -- Det. Stoddard, his boss -- they reported smelling what they wanted to smell. In spite of what everybody else couldn't smell, they reported what they wanted to smell. Why? Becuase it supported their theory."

I don't even think it was LH. I think he had never in his life had such sexual success with women and he had lost his mind because of it. people get addicted to , sex, living dangerously, etc... It's a lot more exciting than being a dad, a husband, going to work everyday (though he doesn't seem to be doing much work) providing for the family.
I think he decided he wanted the single life, in a big city, with his playboy self.

True. Though anyone with 30 min and $125 could be "successful".
But his hidden life was much more exciting than life with his emasculating wife who he was not sexually attracted to

But that all has ZERO relevance to whether or not Ross is guilty of murder or neglient homicide. It is a distraction, imo.

I think it will be a matter of opinion, to be honest. It's one of the pieces of evidence that might not get a consensus.

I thought Cooper appeared alert and shifting in the chickfila video, others might not have.

I though Ross was clearly fake hemming and hawing in the LE video, others might not have.

Ross looked bored and unconcerned in the booking room, others might not see that.

etc. etc.

It could be a very contentious deliberation.

So why didn't Ross smell the urine soaked diaper?

I was thinking of the diaper recently. There was no poop in the diaper (sorry for the technical term, lol), only urine. In Cooper's stomach, there was orange juice and a bit of potato, IIRC.

Ross claims that Cooper ate at home, before going out to breakfast. If that were true, wouldn't Cooper either have undigested food in his body and/or poop in his diaper?

Doesn't mean much, I suppose, but I'm wondering if Ross fed the little boy that day at all. Even though he was a little boy and perhaps had a small appetite, I would think he would have something other than OJ and a bite of potato for breakfast - especially since he was running late and wouldn't have breakfast at daycare.

I was so surprised when I learned the diaper only had urine in it.

Right, so they are not what the State is using in their closing as to what they are basing their theory on.

Here's the video: unclear whether he turned because it's fuzzy, but the pauses occur as the guy approaches Ross's car. As soon as he gets by Ross's car, Ross begins walking toward work again.
