Presumed innocent, things like that.....

Burning probably isn't the correct word... But when someone has a fever a common phrase is, "they are burning up!" So I can connect the dots.

Same here.

Boring tells jurors that Harris emotion wasn't real until he found out he was going to be arrested.

Boring explains how to evaluate intent, motive and expert testimony to jurors.

  • #544
What is his point about the defense having the same subpoena power?

  • #545
Shifting burden again! Judge saw it or else she wouldn't have said what she did... jmho

Boring closing continued:

Words, conduct, demeanor and motive are all things that are to be considered, Boring said.

Given Harris’ double life, “I think actions speak louder than words,” he said.

The defense will say that everybody reacts differently in times of trauma. “People react in different ways but not in the way (Harris) did,” he said.

Dr. Brewer gave expert testimony about memory failure. If this was intentional, his testimony was meaningless, Boring said. In fact, some of his testimony ended up supported the state’s case. Brewer was unaware of a lot of Harris’ actions leading up to Cooper’s death, Boring pointed out.

Was it just me or did the end of RH's interview where he rattled off how he had no history of abuse, domestic violence, has a background in LE, and how everyone would say he's a wonderful father sound a little too much like he'd thought through it previously? That really shook me up. It was almost...rehearsed. As if he'd gone through it all in his mind how they would never suspect him of doing it on purpose, but the detectives hadn't mentioned any of those things yet and he had to make sure they knew. I hadn't watched the interview before, and seeing it now where he's calm and arguing the charges gave me chills. No wonder LE was suspicious!

Just catching up!

A juror can be excused for wondering why the heck they have to deal with these unrelated minor charges....

Coaching a 16 year old on how to perform oral sex??? I MISSED THAT?! So disgusting.

Wow Boring! Saying the child victims used bad judgment.

It's "exploitation" because children don't have the capacity to make such judgments.

  • #551
Boring closing continued:

Boring is talking about the charges Harris faces.

He faces sexual exploitation of a minor – somebody less than 18 years old. He took a substantial step to persuade, entice a minor to send a nude photo. That can be committed by not only getting someone to send a photo or being in possession of it.

“What we have is him trying to get that,” Boring said. The girl was a junior in high school.

“This was an attempt that was ongoing … repeatedly over and over and over again,” at least six requests from the defendant for the child to send him a picture of her genital area, Boring said.

Burning implies fire. No fire here. Confusing remark. :moo:

BDE, I keep trying to edit my post, but, it won't let me. I just wanted to say I'm sorry that my post might appear to be snarky - it kinda did after I reread it. So, apologies, I didn't mean for it to be so harsh and should have worded it so as not to seem like an attack on you.

The part that got me was that when detectives told him they were going to charge him with child cruelty because he caused Cooper's death, he asked "how is that against the law?"

If I had caused the death of a child, even by accident, I wouldn't care what the cops did to me. I'd either have to be put in a rubber room or on suicide watch.

The charges are not unrelated. He was doing them while doing the alleged other crime he's been brought to trial for. All at the same time. Other charges with minors on other days have been separated- as they should have been.

This happened in the Christina Morris case. Posters slammed the thread with "fact" after fact of how that defendant was framed and nobody else was ever looked at. Basically just discredit law enforcement and call it a day. Thankfully that defendant was found guilty as he obviously was. But the power posting and mocking of anyone who felt differently did not go unnoticed.

All of this was much worse than I originally thought.

He flat out preyed on teenagers he knew were emotionally vulnerable.

IMO your post did not sound like that at all.

(I know your post was not directed at me, I'm just sharing my opinion.)

Maybe he was on the fence but during that less than one minute ride from CFA to work, when he sent the message about needing escapes, he made the decision. He works in technology, he would know deleting things would make him look guilty.

Maybe he did delete things. He hid others. He gave LE his phone knowing full well what was on it. That just tells me he thought he had it hidden well enough that they wouldn't find it. For all we know, he *did* delete some more incriminating things.

Boring closing continued:

He also faces charges of sending explicit and detailed verbal descriptions of sexual excitement and sexual conduct. Harris was coaching a 16-year-old on how to perform oral sex, Boring said. Harris was 33 at the time.

“It is harmful, who knows the psychological issues down the road,” Boring said.

The same crime is also charged in a different manner. He sent a photo of his penis to the under-aged girls too.

Dude, no, RH was NOT sexting as he drove. Get your facts straight.

<rsbm> Also pointed out Brewer was not informed of all evidence.

Put Cooper in the place of an animal re the vet video!
