Parks (24/now 27) aka Tiana C. Parks was arrested (7/19/20) & charged (12/23/21) with felony murder (F1), endangering the welfare of children (F2), possession of an instrument of crime (M1), interference with custody of children (F3), abuse of corpse (M2), unsworn falsification to authorities (M2), false report (falsely incriminate another) to LE (M3), obstruction of justice (M2) & tampering/fabricating with evidence (M2). Held without bond.
Bench Trial was set to begin on 9/29/22 but Parks plead guilty to most charges.

Plead not guilty. Held without bond.

10/13/22 Update: Gibson: Plead guilty to 1st degree premeditated murder & felony murder. 1st degree child abuse chase was dismissed. Assault: plead guilty to assaulting 2 prison employees. Sentencing hearing for all charges on 12/2/22.
*Lisa Marie Reed (34/now 37) (“mother”) arrested & charged (7/28/20) & arraigned (2/10/21) with felony murder & 2 counts of 1st degree child abuse. Plead not guilty. $30K bond.

Friday, December 2nd:
*Trial continues (Day 4)-VERDICT REACHED! (@ 9:30am ET) – NC – William Anderson “Andy” Banks, Jr. (39) (missing Sept. 12, 2020, found Sept. 18, 2020 near 3800 Irish Rd. in Chatham, VA. & SUV found in Danville, VA.) - *Justin Fernando Merritt (34/now 36) arrested & charged (9/18/20) & arraigned (9/18/20) with 1st degree felony murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, additional charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, armed robbery & possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. $2M bond, but Judge changed (9/18/20) it to no bond.
Trial began on 11/29/22. State & Defense rested their cases on 12/1/22.

12/2/22 Friday, Trial Day 4: Wake County Assistant District Attorney Patrick Latour gave closing arguments for the State & Merritt’s attorney, Alexis Strombotne, used her 10-minute closing argument to try to convince the jury that Merritt should be found guilty of second-degree murder.
A jury finding Merritt guilty of 1st degree murder for killing Banks. The jury also found Merritt guilty of robbery, larceny & possession of a firearm by a felon. After the verdict, Merritt stood & spoke for the first time. He apologized to Banks’ friends & family, as well as his own. “Please hear me when I say, this was never my intention,” said Merritt, a father of three. “I am so sorry.” Merritt’s attorney gave notice of an appeal.
After a jury found Merritt guilty of murdering Banks & robbing him of a Range Rover he was selling, Judge Graham Shirley asked Merritt to stand in silence for one minute. After the minute, Shirley sentenced Merritt to life in prison, which is the automatic sentence for a 1st degree murder conviction.

*Trial continues with Penalty Phase (@ CT) – TX – Infant (4 mos.) (July 12, 2018, San Antonio) – *Terrence Wayne Harper (30/now 34) arrested & charged (7/16/18), indicted (12/18/18) & arraigned (12/21/18) with causing serious injuries to a child (son). Plead not guilty. $150K bond, released.

The Webb County Sheriff’s Office said Ortiz (ex-Border Patrol agent) video confession to the slayings, revealing an anger at the local sex trade & saying he wanted to clean it up, vigilante-style.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 10am PT) - CA – *Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani (53/now 57) (CFO & President of Theranos) indicted & charged (6/14/18) & arraigned (6/15/18) with 9 counts of wire fraud & 2 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Another count of wire fraud was added in 2020, bringing the total number of felony charges to 12. Plead not guilty. Unsecured bon $500K was modified (7/7/22) to secured $750K bond. Faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison & a fine of $2.75 million, plus restitution, & $250K for each individual count of wire fraud & conspiracy. Plead not guilty.
Defrauding investors out of $700 million in funding for their blood-testing startup Theranos.

11/7/22 Update: A California federal judge on Monday agreed to delay convicted former Theranos executive Balwani's 11/15/22 sentencing until 12/7/22 after Balwani argued in a heavily redacted motion that. This is to give probation officers more time to recommend his punishment for engineering a scam tied to Theranos’ blood-testing technology.
*Elizabeth A. Holmes (34/now 38) (CEO of Theranos) – Trial began on 9/8/21 & ended 1/3/22 with a verdict of guilty on 4 counts of 11. Sentencing hearing was to be on 10/17/22 but was delayed with motions for new trial Filed (5/27/22) for dismissal of all charges. All 3 motions for dismissal/new trial-denied. Sentenced on 11/18/22 to 11.25 years (135 months) in prison & 3 years supervised release. Report to prison on 4/27/23.


Thursday, Dec. 8th:
*Trial set to begin (@ am CT) – TX – Cecilia Huerta Gallegos (30) (missing July 7, 2019, reported missing July 8, 2019 by husband, San Antonio, not found) - *Reyes Huerta Gallegos (36/now 37) arrest & charged (8/24/21) & indicted (11/16/21) & arraigned (11/19/21) with murder (by manner & means unknown to the grand jury). $250K bond lowered (1/14/22) to $200K.
Previous charges: 1/13/20: Assault with bodily injury was dismissed as a material witness was missing. Plead guilty to filing a false police report & was sentenced to 6 months on the false report, but it only shows a credit for time served of 132 days - just over 4 months.

Plead not guilty. Bail denied.
Trial began on 10/11/22. Jury: 7 women & 5 men & 2 women alternates. Jury deliberations: 10/26/22: ~5 ½ hours. 10/27/22: 9a-10:30a ~1 ½ hours. Total: ~7 hours. Found guilty of 2 counts of 2nd degree murder & 1 count of 3rd degree murder. Sentencing hearing on 12/9/22.

10/26/22 Wednesday, Trial Day 7/Jury Deliberations Day 1: Closing arguments by Procopio’s court-appointed defense attorney, John Bongivengo & then by Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa. Jury instructions read & jurors were retired to deliberate at 12 noon. The jury returned to the courtroom around 4pm to ask the difference between first- and third-degree murder. Common Pleas President Judge Dominick Motto, the presiding judge, gave them an explanation, than they went back behind closed doors again for another 1 ½ hours, without resolve. The jurors were sent home around 5:30pm. They are to reconvene at 9am to continue deliberations on 10/27/22.
10/27/22 Thursday, Trail Day 8/Jury Deliberations Day 2: Jury continues deliberations. Started at 9am & ended at 10:30am. The jury found Procopio guilty of 2 counts of second-degree murder & 1 count of third-degree murder in the deaths of Amariah Emery & her mother, Nichole Pumphrey. The jury deliberated for a total of seven hours. The second-degree murder convictions carry a sentence of life without parole & a sentencing date will be scheduled. 10/31/22 Update: Sentencing hearing on 12/9/22 @ 10:30am.
*Anthony Lavon “Mook” Cooper, Jr. (19/now 22) – Plead guilty on 1/18/22 & was sentencing to 15 to 30 years in prison.
*Jody Lynn Hammer - 4/1/19: All charges are dismissed.

*Probation & Sentencing Hearing (@ 8:30am PT) - CA - Kris Anderson (57) (June 11, 2016, Santa Monica, stabbed in the head) - *Theo Andrew Krah (28 @ time of crime/31/now 34, Navy SEAL) indicted & arrested (6/13/16) & arraigned (10/21/16) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. $2M bond.
Trial began on 6/15/22 & restarted on 6/21 thru 6/30/22 (Day 1-8), 7/5 thru 7/8/22 (Day 9-12) & Jury deliberations Day 1-2 (7/7-7/8/22).
Jurors reached a verdict (7/8/22) guilty on 2nd degree murder. Sentencing on 8/1/22 reset on 9/9/22 & reset to 12/9/22.

*Sentencing Hearing (State) (@ 8:30am CT) - MN – George Perry Floyd, Jr. (46) (May 25, 2020, Minneapolis, arrested for forgery & killed in police custody) – for *J. Alexander Kueng (26/now 29) were fired (5/26/20), arrested (6/3/20) & charged (6/4/20) with aiding & abetting 2nd degree murder-unintentional-while committing a felony & aiding & abetting 2nd degree manslaughter-culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk. Bond set at $1M for all or bond conditions @ $750K. Kueng released (6/19/20) on $750K bond with conditions.
*Tou Thao (34/now 36) & was fired (5/26/20), arrested (6/3/20) & charged (6/4/20) with aiding & abetting 2nd degree murder-unintentional-while committing a felony & aiding & abetting 2nd degree manslaughter-culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk. Bond set at $1M for all or bond conditions @ $750K. Thao released (7/4/20) on $750K bond with conditions.
As of 10/7/22 Kueng is in custody at the Elkton, Ohio, federal prison & Thao remains at the federal medical center in Lexington.
Trial was set to begin on 10/24/22 with jury selection, but Kueng plead guilty on 10/24/22 to aiding & abetting 2nd degree manslaughter. Sentencing hearing on 12/9/22. Thao requested a Bench Trial. Judge will have decision in 90 days after 11/17/22 when evidence is submitted.

10/24/22 Update: Kueng: Was changed to a plea hearing. Kueng agreed Monday, October 24 to enter a guilty plea to aiding & abetting 2nd degree manslaughter. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered. No further dates available. Kueng accepted a plea deal in which he will plead guilty to aiding & abetting second-degree manslaughter of Floyd & the charge of his aiding & abetting Floyd's murder will be dropped. The deal calls for Kueng to be sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison. Kueng's plea will allow him to serve his state and federal terms concurrently.
Thao: Trial hearing reset as a pretrial hearing & held on record. Thao has elected to have a bench trial. Bail to stand as previously ordered. Thao agreed to a trial by stipulated evidence. Parties have until 11/17/22 to submit the evidence the Judge will consider. The Judge will have 90 days to issue a verdict. The State agreed to drop the aiding & abetting murder charge if he received a conviction at the bench trial. Witnesses won't need to testify again. 12/2/22 Update: The government argued in a court filing this week that 180 months behind bars "would reflect the seriousness of the offenses, promote respect for the law, provide for just punishment for the offenses & deter Balwani & others." Balwani's attorneys, in turn, are asking for leniency from the judge. The defense team argued in its own brief that Balwani should only receive probation & if he is sentenced to serve any time at all it should be on home confinement. Sentencing hearing on 12/7/22.

9/6/22 Update: Fox & Croft's defense attorneys asked a federal judge for a new trial Tuesday & for a rare hearing to investigate misconduct allegations involving a juror. Details were unavailable because U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker has gagged defense lawyers from commenting publicly & ordered the sealing of court filings that address juror misconduct allegations. But the filing late Tuesday included a sealed memo from a defense team investigator, suggesting new details have been uncovered about the conduct of a juror in the two weeks since ringleaders Fox & Croft were convicted of kidnapping conspiracy & conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. The request could result in Fox & Croft standing trial for a third time. The judge & his staff investigated the juror allegation & questioned the juror in private before deciding to let the juror stay on the case. The juror, who has not been identified publicly by name, gender or juror number, did not appear to be manipulative & denied having a predetermined desire to convict the men, Jonker wrote in a court filing. Court has 14 days to response to the motion.
9/21/22 Update: Fox & Croft do not deserve a new trial because they failed to provide credible evidence of juror misconduct or that the judge was biased, prosecutors said in a court filing unsealed Wednesday. U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker unsealed a redacted version of the government's filing, two weeks after lawyers for ringleaders Fox & Croft requested a new trial, arguing the judge was openly hostile toward the defense & revealing that one juror leaked details about deliberations. Fox & Croft were convicted in August of kidnapping conspiracy & conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction & are awaiting possible sentences of up to life in prison. "New trials are reserved for cases in which a 'manifest injustice' has been done such that an innocent person may have been convicted," Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler wrote. "The defendants have not met their burden of establishing good cause for a new trial."
11/25/22 Update: A federal judge has denied the motion for a new trial for Croft & Fox. Lawyers for the men had argued the federal judge hearing their case did not give them a fair trial, which the judge denied in an opinion released Friday (11/25/22).

10/26/22 Wednesday, Trial Day 12/Jury Deliberations Day 2: Jury continues deliberations. The Jackson County jury spent about five hours deliberating before coming back with the verdict today. They found Bellar, Morrison & Musico guilty of providing material support to a terrorist, being a member of a gang & a felony weapons charge. The men face up to 42 years in prison, 20 for the charges of providing material support & gang membership and an additional two for a felony weapons charge. The gang membership sentence may run consecutively to other sentences. Sentencing for all three men is scheduled for 12/15/22.

Chauvin & his ex-wife, Kellie Chauvin are accused of under reporting their income by a total of $464,433 between 2014 & 2019, according to the complaint. That includes an alleged failure to report more than $95K over several years from Mr. Chauvin’s employment as a security guard at a bar. They owe a total of $37,868 in back taxes & penalties, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Washington County attorney’s office. Both Chauvin & his ex-wife each face nine felony charges, which each carry a maximum of five years in prison & a $10K fine.

*Federal Case – 12/15/21: Plead guilty to Floyd & 14 yr. old charges. Sentencing hearing on 7/7/22 & was sentenced to 21 years in Federal prison. He will serve the state & federal sentences concurrently in a federal prison. 8/24/22 Update: Chauvin was taken from a maximum-security prison in a Minneapolis suburb to the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, according to the Bureau of Prisons.

The body was apparently was dumped at the location, Los Angeles County) – *Geovanni Borjas (24 @ time of 1st crime/33/now 37) charged (2/15/18) & arraigned (5/30/18) with 2 counts of murder, forcible rape & 1 count of kidnapping (for Guzman). (Murder charges include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders, murder during the commission of a rape involving both victims & murder during the commission of a kidnapping involving Guzman). 10/31/22 Monday, Trial Day 4: In the midst of his trial, Borjas plead no contest (guilty) Monday to raping & murdering a teenage girl & a young woman about eight months apart in 2011, opening himself to a sentence of life behind bars without parole. Borjas plead no contest to 2 counts each of first-degree murder & forcible rape, along with a single count of kidnapping to commit rape. He also admitted special circumstance allegations of multiple murders & murder during the commission of a rape. He is scheduled to be sentenced on 12/12/22.
12/12/22 Update: Borjas was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The cause of death was chloroform toxicity. Details of death sealed, search warrants & 911 call were unsealed 2/24/18.
Trial was set to begin on 3/21/22 continued to 11/8/22 was vacated. Plead guilty on 12/12/22.

12/12/22 Update: Kimrey plead guilty to 1st degree murder & felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury in the November 2017 death of Mariah in a plea deal. “I’m deeply sorry for the pain & grief I have caused,” Kimrey said Monday in court. “It was not my intention for this to happen. I am so sorry to family, friends & everyone involved.” The maximum sentence Kimrey could receive was the death penalty, but with the plea he was sentenced to prison without the possibility of parole.

12/13/22 Update: Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio sentenced Sauberan Tuesday morning to 25 years to life in prison. Judge DiTullio read into the record highlights of the pre-sentencing report prepared for Sauberan that included a detailed history of his lengthy criminal record in New York & various other states. At one point, DiTullio asked Sauberan if he was listening to her. "Not really, no," he said, prompting gasps from some in the public seating. She then carried on with her recapping of Sauberan's criminal career. "You like to hurt women," the judge said. "You like to hurt & kill women." She told Sauberan, who wore shackles & an ill-fitting orange jumpsuit as he stood stoically between his lawyers, that she would recommend he serve his sentence at a maximum security prison far from Buffalo. Defense attorney Paul Dell, who represented Sauberan with Brian Towey, also declined to speak on behalf of his client but said he would file an appeal of the guilty verdict later this week.

Musico, Morrison & Bellar, who prosecutors said are members of a militia group known as the “Wolverine Watchmen,” were all sentenced on charges of gang participation, support of a terrorist act & carrying or possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the Michigan attorney general’s office. Musico & Bellar must serve a minimum of 12 years & seven years, respectively. Trial began on Oct. 19, 2021. Trial is scheduled to continue over the next few months. Sessions are limited to about two hours a day, based on medical advice.
After trying to escape the trial in late September, leaving the retirement home in Quickborn where she lives & traveling by taxi to the outskirts of Hamburg, she was arrested several hours later & placed in police custody for five days before being fitted with an electronic wrist tag.

Nov. 29, 2022 Update: Lawyers for a 97-year-old former secretary to the SS commander of Nazi Germany’s Stutthof concentration camp asked Tuesday for their client to be acquitted, arguing that she didn’t know about the atrocities committed at the camp located in what is now northern Poland. In her closing statement, Furchner said she was sorry for what had happened & regretted that she had been there at the time. “I’m sorry about everything that happened,” Furchner said at the courthouse, her lawyer told AFP. “I regret that I was in Stutthof at the time,” she said, referring to the location of the concentration camp in occupied Poland where she worked. Her lawyers requested her acquittal, arguing that the evidence hadn’t shown beyond doubt that Furchner knew about the systematic killings at the camp, meaning there was no proof of intent as required for criminal liability. Prosecutors accused Furchner of being part of the apparatus that helped the Nazis’ Stutthof camp function during World War II. In their closing arguments last month, they called for her to be convicted as an accessory to murder & given a two-year suspended sentence. The court said a verdict is expected on Dec. 20, 2022.
Dec. 20, 2022 Update: Furchner has been convicted of complicity in the murders of more than 10,505 people & was given a two-year suspended jail term. It took 40 days for her to break her silence in the trial, when she told the court "I'm sorry about everything that happened".

(re new trial) (@ am PT) – CA – Laci Denise Peterson (27) & Connor (unborn) (missing Dec. 24, 2002, Modesto; found April 13, 2003 in the San Francisco Bay) - *Scott Lee Peterson (30 @ time of crime/31/now 50) convicted & found guilty (11/12/04) of 1st degree murder (Laci) & 2nd degree murder(son) & sentenced (3/16/05) to death by lethal injection.
His case is currently on automatic appeal to the Supreme Court of California. Sits on San Quentin's death row. Calif. Supreme Court denied a new trial in the guilt phase but reversed the death penalty sentence for Stanislaus County. Also the San Mateo Superior Court will now consider whether there was jury misconduct. Stanislaus County district attorney’s office said it won’t seek the death penalty if there is a new trial.
Re-Sentencing Hearing on 12/8/21. Peterson was moved to San Mateo County jail on 11/29/21 for sentencing hearing. Ordered Peterson to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 1st degree murder of Laci & a concurrent sentence of 15 years to life for the 2nd degree murder of Conner. Peterson was transferred from San Quentin State Prison (~10/21/22) to Mule Creek State Prison.

12/13/22 Update: Judge Anne-Christine Massulo scheduled a conference for Wednesday, 12/14/22 to discuss unspecified legal issues & also suspended the time she had previously announced for rendering her ruling. The clock for the decision effectively stopped on Dec. 8, 2022. If the issues are resolved Wednesday, the clock for her to make a trial decision would resume ticking. Massullo could announce a new trial date on Wednesday, stick to the original Dec. 16 target, or announce a date as far out as Dec. 23. This was according to Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager.
12/14/22 Update: Peterson appeared virtually Wednesday after the judge noticed a clerical error & temporarily suspended her decision over whether Peterson would be granted a new trial. "In preparing the decision in this matter, which is not final & reviewing the record again, it came to my attention that a rule of court has been violated," Massullo said in court Wednesday. During the hearing, Massullo specified that court filings, which would eventually be unsealed, included an unredacted Social Security number & a driver's license number. Massullo ordered that attorneys meet by Thursday morning to determine how to correct the exhibit, then explain how they would do so & ensure there were no further errors within the filings. The jurist further said she would state by Friday whether the issue was fixed. t was unclear immediately following Wednesday's hearing when Massullo was expected to release her decision regarding a new trial.
12/21/22 Update: Richelle Nice, a juror who helped convict Peterson in the killings denied she was biased against him. Defense seeking a new trial, saying she failed to disclose she was a victim of domestic abuse. Peterson will not get a new trial. Judge Anne-Christine Massulo says no evidence that juror Nice had prejudged case, was biased against him or had "hidden agenda". New trial motion - denied.

11/25/22 Update: A federal judge has denied the motion for a new trial for Croft & Fox. Lawyers for the men had argued the federal judge hearing their case did not give them a fair trial, which the judge denied in an opinion released Friday (11/25/22). Sentencing hearing for Fox on 12/12/22 & for Croft on 12/28/22.
12/10/22 Update: A ringleader in the failed plot to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020 shouldn’t receive a life sentence in prison, according to his attorney. In a sentencing memorandum filed late Friday, 12/10/22 for Adam Fox, attorney Christopher Gibbons argued the government used “exaggerated language to create the false narrative of a terrifying para-military leader.” Gibbons claims the government used “histrionic descriptions” of Fox, including comparing him to the Oklahoma City Bomber Timothy McVeigh who killed 168 people, that do not represent “his actual intentions or actual capabilities.” The filing in federal court in Grand Rapids, Michigan, came four days after federal prosecutors said that a life sentence behind bars would be justified for Fox’s attempting to “light the fire of a second revolution,” according to federal court records. US District Judge Robert Jonker will sentence Fox on 12/27/22, while Croft will be sentenced on 2/28/22.

Plead not guilty. Held without bail.

Trial was set to begin on 8/8/22 but has agreed to a peal deal.
Originally arrested (1/4/19) with child abuse resulting in death, tampering with evidence & conspiracy. Held without bond; Judge released him (1/13/19). DA dismissed (1/8/19) all charges without prejudice, awaiting autopsy report. Recharged on 5/18/19.
