*Final Jury Selection set to begin (Athena’s Case) (@ 9am CT) - TX - Athena Presley Monroe Strand (7) – (last seen near the 200 block of County 3573 on Nov. 30, 2022 in Paradise. Reported missing by mom @ 6:40pm on 11/30/22; found deceased along the water’s edge of the Trinity River southeast of Boyd on the evening of Dec. 2, 2022 about 9 miles from her home). *Tanner Lynn Horner (31/now 34) arrested (12/3/22), indicted (2/16/23), charged & arraigned (3/6/23) with capital murder (under the age of 10) & 1st degree felon aggravated kidnapping. Bond $1M (murder) $500K (kidnapping). Surety Bond total $1,545,000. Plead not guilty (3/6/23). DA will seek DP (2/18/23). Wise County
TX - *Tanner Lynn Horner (31/now 34) charged (12/21/22) with 3 counts of sexual assault (from 2013) in Fort Worth. Bond @ $45K. Surety Bond Total $135K. Tarrant County
Admitted kidnapping & killing Athena.
Jury selection began on 1/30/26 & ended on 2/11/26.
Final jury selection set on 4/1/26. 12 jurors & 2 alternates [will be chosen].

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 1:30pm ET) – IL – Damari L. Perry (6) (was last seen in Skokie with his 16-year-old sister at her friend’s home around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, reported missing Jan. 5, 2022, Chicago & found deceased late Friday night Jan. 7, 2022 near an abandoned house in the 700 block of Van Buren St. in Gary; in truth Damari died on Dec. 30, 2021 during a punishment from his “mom”; killed on his 6th birthday) – *Jannie M. Perry (38/now 42) “mom” arrested (1/7/22) & charged (1/8/22) with 1st degree murder, obstructing justice (because of fake “story”) & concealment of a homicidal death. Indicted & recharged (2/2/22) & arraigned (2/18/22) with 1st degree murder, aggravated battery of a child, dismembering a human body, conspiracy, aggravated domestic battery, concealment of a homicidal death, endangering the life or health of a child, abuse of corpse, obstructing justice & failure to report the death or disappearance of a child under 13 yrs. Old. Plead not guilty. $5M bond. Lake County
Plead guilty to 1st degree murder & had other charges dismissed on 12/4/25. Sentencing hearing on 4/2/26.

1/22/26 Update: Status hearing held. Sentencing has been reset on 4/2/26 @ 1:30pm & next is status hearing on 3/18/26 @ 9am.
3/18/26 Update: Heard & held but no info on status hearing. Next sentencing hearing on 4/2/26 @ 1:30pm.
*Jeremiah R. Perry (20/now 24) “brother” – Case Management hearing on 4/14/26 & trial set to begin on 5/4/26.
*Juvenile (16/now 20) “brother” arrested (1/7/22) who is also believed to be responsible for his death, faces charges in Lake County’s Juvenile Court in Waukegan. Has not been named. Lake County Juvenile Court.
