10/21/22 Update: No info on review hearing. Motions (review) hearing regarding change of venue on 11/14/22 @ 11am. Trial set to begin with jury selection on 2/2/23.
Maribel Victoria Gonzales (13) (June 4, 2014, Tucson, found June 6, 2014, id’ed June 20, 2014) indicted (9/15/18) & arraigned & charged (9/24/18) with 1 count of 1st degree murder, 1 count of kidnapping a minor under 15 & 14 counts of sexual exploitation of minors. Plead not guilty. $2M cash only bond. Trial started 9/13/22 & ended 9/30/22 with a guilty verdict. Sentenced on 11/14/22 to natural life in prison & 17 years for kidnapping.


Friday, February 3rd:
*Sentencing Decision Hearing for both (@ am MT) - UT - Angelina Costello (3) (July 6, 2017, Ogden) (Starved, burned & beaten to death; weighed 13 lbs.) – *Brenda “Ericka” Emile (22/now 27) arrested & charged (1/17/18) & arraigned (5/14/18) with 1st degree felony aggravated murder. Plead not guilty; no bail. DA will seek DP. DP was dismissed per plea agreement 8/19/22.
*Miller Eric Costello (25/now 29) arrested & charged (1/17/18) & arraigned (5/14/18) with 1st degree felony aggravated murder. Both plead not guilty; no bail. DA will seek DP.
Angelina died from a combination of blunt force trauma, burns, starvation & malnutrition. She weighed 13 pounds. Her ribs were visible, her legs & arms thin & covered in bruises. Burn marks on her face & chest were caked with makeup an attempt, Emile later told police, to minimize the severity of her injuries.
Trial was set to begin on 10/3/22 cancelled. Emile plead guilty on 8/19/22 to 1st degree felony aggravated murder & death penalty dismissed per plea agreement. Sentencing on 10/17 thru 10/28. Emile wants to withdraw her guilty plea. Judge DiReda will have a hearing to her motions. Provisional sentencing hearing on 1/23/23. (5 days)
Trial was set to begin 8/1/22 for Costello only & delayed to 2023 because of intellectual disability evaluation. Trial now set to begin on 1/30/23 & was vacated when Miller plead guilty on 10/7/22. Sentencing phase on 1/23/23 to 1/27/23. Formal sentencing on 2/3/23.

Second District Judge Michael DiReda will pronounce sentence on Emile & Costello on 2/3/23. Under state law, there are two options for the sentence: 25 years to life in prison or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

*Trial set to begin (Fraud) (@ 10:30am PT) – AZ - *Christopher Matthew Clements (35/now 41) charged (4/6/17) & arraigned (2/13/18) with 2 counts of fraudulent schemes/artifices.
Trial for Fraud was set to begin on 12/8/22 was continued to 1/30/23 (to 2/2/23).
Burglary & Theft – found guilty (6/8/22) & sentenced to 35 years.
Trial for Maribel Gonzales murder – started on 9/13/22 & ended 9/30/22 with a guilty verdict. Sentenced on 11/14/22 to natural life in prison & 17 years for kidnapping charge.

*Plea Hearing (@ 1:15pm CT) - TX - Heidi Elizabeth Broussard (33) & Margo(t) Elizabeth Carey (2 wks.) (missing on Dec. 12, 2019, Austin; found Dec. 19, 2019, Heidi deceased inside trunk of car (2015 Nissan Versa) owned by Magen at Jersey Village near Houston; baby Margo(t) alive & healthy). *Magen Rose Fieramusca (33/now 37) aka Maygen Humphrey, Magan (& Magen) Rose Humphrey, Maygen Fieramusca, May Humphrey & May Fieramusca arrested (12/19/19) & charged, arraigned (12/20/19) & indicted (1/28/20) with 2 counts of 3rd degree kidnapping & 1 count of 2nd degree tampering with a human corpse. Plead not guilty. $600K bond.
Indicted & recharged & arraigned (1/28/20) with 1 count of capital murder by terror threat & 2 counts of 3rd degree kidnapping (Margo(t)) & 1 count of tampering with evidence. Plead not guilty. $1M bond (on murder).
Trial was set to begin 3/13/23 was vacated & took a plea agreement. In exchange for a guilty plea, Fieramusca will be convicted of the lesser offense of murder & the kidnapping & tampering with evidence charges will be dropped. In exchange for the plea agreement, the attorneys for Fieramusca said they expected a sentence of 55 years in prison.

2/2/23 Update: Fieramusca pleads guilty to 1st degree murder of Heidi. Her capital murder charge was reduced to 1st degree murder as part of the plea deal & the kidnapping & tampering with evidence charges will be dismissed. Judge Selena Alvarenga sentences her to 55 years in prison. And will be eligible for release after only 27 ½ years. Tammy Broussard, Heidi’s mother gave a victim's statement in court.

2/3/23 Update: Second District Judge Michael DiReda will pronounce sentence on Emile & Costello on 2/3/23. Under state law, there are two options for the sentence: 25 years to life in prison or life in prison without the possibility of parole. Judge Michael DiReda on Friday sentenced Costello & Emile to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Calling the pair “monsters,” the 2nd District Court judge at times appeared to choke up as he explained his reasoning for imposing the harshest sentence available rather than the other option allowed by state law, 25 years to life in prison.

*Trial set to begin (@ am ET) - SC - Iyana Lowery (8) & Ella Lowery (36) (Mom found in home May 5, 2017, Bennettsville; Iyana found in a creek May 14, 2017 in McColl outside of Bennettsville) - *Jejauncey Fernando Harrington (32/now 37) charged & indicted (9/12/17) on 2 counts of murder, kidnapping, 2 counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and the use of vehicle without permission with intent to deprive. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. DA will seek DP.
Iyana's DNA was found in the trunk of Harrington's car.
3/27/20: Filed: Harrington v. Ray et al. Plaintiff: Jejauncey Fernando Harrington; Defendant: Director Ray, Officer Blanche Quick, Officer Michia Johnson and Officer Tammy Moses; Case #: 4:2020cv01198; Filed: 3/27/20 Nature of Suit: Prison: Prison Condition.

6/15/22 Update: Harrington filed several motions last year: have solicitor provide written notice of evidence, prevent state from seeking the death penalty against him, preclude public shackling, complete redecoration & transcript of all proceedings, prohibiting defendant from being in jail clothing, incorporate all federal & state constitutional bases, specially setting hearings on all pre-trial motions, require constitutional grand jury proceedings, for an order compelling heightened scrutiny & for non-waiver of rights.
6/16/22 Update: Harrington‘s trial was initially scheduled for 7/5/22. The trial was delayed due to scheduling conflicts, No new date set for January, 2023. 1/18/23 Update: Jury selection is set to begin 2/6/23. Deputy Solicitor Kernard Redmond (with the 4th Circuit Solicitor's office) said no other details could be provided due to an order limiting pretrial statements. Harrington‘s trial was initially scheduled for 7/5/22. The trial was delayed due to scheduling conflicts.

*Trial continues (Day 2) (@ 9am CT) - MN - Eli Hart 46) (Found deceased in mother's trunk, May 20, 2022, Mound) - *Julissa Angelica Genrich Thaler (28/now 29-Her birthday today 2/6/23) “mother” arrested (5/21/22) & charged (5/23/22) with 2nd degree intentional murder (not premeditated) & firearm use or possession. Re-charged (1/13/23) with 1st degree premeditated murder (after turning down a peal deal for 2nd degree murder with intent/not premeditated). Bond is $2M, with conditions & no contact with witnesses. Bond reduction denied (10/7/22).
Trial began on 1/30/23 with jury selection & ended 2/2/23.
Trial began on 2/3/23. 12 jurors are seated. No info on alternates (2 or 3).

Judge Quam has said he would like 14 or 15 jurors before opening statements, 12 who will ultimately deliberate & then either 2 or 3 alternates Jury has been selected. Judge Quam said opening statements could begin as early as Friday, 2/3/23.

Wednesday, February 8th:
*Sentencing Hearing (@ 1:30pm MT) - CO - Myron Robert Martinez (37) (reported missing Nov. 8, 2020 from Del Norte, found Nov. 10, 2020, Las Sauces) – *CJ Walter Dominguez (27/now 29) was arrested & charged (1/18/21) with accessory to 1st degree murder, 2nd degree kidnapping & tampering with deceased human remains. Held at the Alamosa County Jail on $100K bond.
On Dec. 31, an investigator spoke with a person who witnessed the murder, according to the affidavit. The witness said Adre Baroz stabbed & shot Martinez, and that Julius Baroz, known as “Gato,” held Martinez down as his throat was slit.

9/29/22 Update: Next status conference hearing on 12/15/22. 12/15/22 Update: Plead guilty to charges. 12/19/22 Update: A plea resolution was agreed to by special prosecutors for the state & defense counsel in the case of CJ Dominguez. Dominguez was charged with tampering with deceased human remains, a class three felony, accessory to murder in the first degree, a class four felony & second-degree kidnapping, also a class four felony. As was presented by counsel for the defense, Dominguez plead guilty to the charge of tampering with deceased human remains. As part of the resolution agreement, the remaining two charges will be dismissed. Also included in the resolution agreement, seven other cases pending against Dominguez will be dismissed. Six of those seven cases were filed in Alamosa with the seventh filed in Conejos County. Allegations in those dismissed pending cases include traffic violations, violation of bail bond conditions, the violation of a protection order & the burglary of a dwelling. By pleading guilty to the charge of tampering with deceased human remains, Dominguez will not be a co-defendant in the case that has been filed against Adre Baroz, Julius Baroz & Francisco Ramirez, generally referred to as “Los Sauces murders.” As Judge Gonzales then explained, a class three felony will subject Dominguez to a sentence ranging from 4-12 years in the Department of Corrections or placement in Community Corrections (instead of DOC) for the same period. Sentencing guidelines also allow Dominguez to be placed on probation with various terms & conditions, including 90 days in county jail, restitution to victims or a fine. The court is also free to determine if any other conditions will apply to probation, such as treatment for alcohol or drugs or any other conditions the court deems. There are no sentencing stipulations in the resolution, which leaves Dominguez’s sentencing up to the sole discretion of the court. A sentencing hearing is set on 2/28/23 @ 1:30pm.

4/20/22 Update: Keith Papini filed divorce papers on Wednesday, with a hearing set for 5/9/22 to discuss custody issues. The Papinis have two children, ages 9 & 7 & Keith Papini is requesting sole legal & sole custody of them. He wrote that his wife is staying with a relative in Chico & has not seen the children since April 4. He said she had missed one scheduled visitation." Papini, in his filing, said that his wife was "not acting in a rational manner." According to the divorce petition, the Papinis have been married since October 2009 & separated on March 3, 2022, the same day she was arrested on federal charges. Keith is also asking to be relieved of responsibility for Papini's debts which include two unsecured loans from her mother-in-law Kathleen, 56, and 'any obligations arising from her criminal behavior'.
5/9/22 Update: The hearing was set only to review custody issues after Papini missed her supervised visitation since she was released from jail. Believe the divorce proceedings will be on hold until Papini is sentenced & her status known to the court.
9/19/22 Update: Judge William Shubb ordered Sherri Papini to serve three years of supervised probation when gets out & pay $309K in restitution, which the judge said will likely never be paid.
11/8/22 Update: Sherri Papini is now held at a medium security federal prison in Victorville, in San Bernardino County. Original Release date would have been 5/8/24. Federal inmates get credit for good behavior which shaves off about 15% of the sentence. Release date is 2/11/24.

2/8/23 Wednesday, Trial Day 4: Jury reached a verdict after about 2 hours of deliberations. Verdict: Guilty of 1st degree premeditated murder & 2nd degree intentional murder. Sentencing hearing on 2/16/23.
2/16/23 Update: Hennepin County District Court Judge Jay Quam sentenced Thaler to life in prison with no chance of parole.
*Charged (1/6/23) with 5th degree assault on a deputy inside the jail. Hennepin County
1/6/23 Update: Thaler is charged with fifth-degree assault for "shoving & elbowing" a deputy inside the jail. According to the criminal complaint, which was filed on Friday, Jan. 6, detention deputies conducted a shakedown at the Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis on 8/1/22. After the shakedown, Thaler "became uncooperative," & refused to go back to her cell. Deputies "decided to guide" Thaler to her cell but while this was happening, she "shoved & also elbowed" one of the deputies in the left arm, charges said. The deputy "felt pain after the altercation."

Chauvin & his ex-wife, Kellie May Chauvin are accused of underreporting their income by a total of $464,433 between 2014 & 2019, according to the complaint. That includes an alleged failure to report more than $95K over several years from Mr. Chauvin’s employment as a security guard at a bar. They owe a total of $37,868 in back taxes & penalties, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Washington County attorney’s office. Both Chauvin & his ex-wife each face nine felony charges, which each carry a maximum of five years in prison & a $10K fine.

Trial began on 2/9/23 & ended on 2/17/23 with start of jury deliberations. 2/17/23: 1pm to ~ 5pm = ~4 hours. 2/21/23: 8:30am to 11:30am = ~3 hours. Total deliberations: ~7hours. Found guilty of 1st degree murder & tampering with a deceased human body.

2/21/23 Tuesday, Trial Day 6/Jury Deliberations (Day 2): Jurors continue deliberations. Started at ~8:30am to ~11:30am. The jury found Kallungi guilty of 1st degree murder & tampering with a deceased human body.
Judge Jessica Curtis sentenced Kallungi to the mandatory life in prison sentence.

Update!

Tuesday, February 21st:
*Sentencing Hearing (@ 1:30pm ET) – NJ – Daniel Griner, Jr. (23 mos.) (reported missing @ 6:30pm Feb. 8, 2019, Bridgeton; found 2/9/19 @ 3am buried in yard, burned & dismembered in her purse) - *Nakira Monae Griner (24/now 27) arrested & charged (2/9/19) & indicted (6/19/19) & arraigned (10/7/19) with 1st degree murder, 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child, 2nd degree desecration of human remains, 4th degree tampering with evidence & 2nd degree false public alarm. Plead not guilty. No bond. Denied pretrial release (9/12/22).
Said beat toddler for not eating & not listening to her. Died from blunt force trauma & multiply bone fractures.
Trial began on 10/24/22, 10/26 & 10/28/22) with jury selection. Trial began on 12/12/22 & ended on 1/4/23. 1/4/23: Found guilty on all charges. Sentencing hearing on 2/21/23.

1/4/23 Wednesday, Day 11: Found guilty of all charges. Sentencing on 2/21/23.
2/21/23 Update: Superior Court Judge George H. Gangloff Jr. sentenced Griner to life sentence without parole. In addition to the life sentence for murder, he sentenced her to a consecutive seven-year term on the desecration count.
