*Trial continues (Day 34) (@ 10am PT) – British Columbia, Canada – M. S. (13) (last seen alive on July 18, 2017 at a local Tim Hortons, Burney B.C. & her body was found 5 hours later on July 19, 2017 in Burnaby’s Central Park, Vancouver) - *Ibrahim Ali (28/now 32) arrested & charged (9/7/18) & indicted (11/25/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Police used a new & somewhat controversial “DNA dragnet” technique, after collecting DNA at the crime scene that indicated a suspect of Middle Eastern descent. (He is a Syrian refugee who entered Canada 3 months before murder).
Trial began on 3/17/23 with jury selection & ended on 3/23/23.
Trial began on 4/5/23 & continued on 4/11/23. (expected to run thru June 30 & changed (5/17/23) maybe thru September). B.C. Supreme Court Justice Lance Bernard presiding. Crown prosecutor Isobel Keeley & defense attorney Ben Lynskey.

*Trial continues (Day 6) (@ 9am ET) - LA – Justin McClain Bloxom (12) (Mar. 30, 2010 abducted & murdered, found in a wooded area off U.S. Hwy 171 in Stonewall) – *Brian Douglas Horn (34 @ time of crime/43/now 47) arrested & charged (3/31/10), arraigned (1/3/12) & indicted (6/17/19) with 1st degree murder & 2nd degree kidnapping. Re-indicted & charged (5/3/21) with 1st degree murder, had specific intent to kill & inflict great bodily harm & was engaged in the perpetration or attempted perpetration of 2nd degree kidnapping, cruelty to juvenile & 2nd degree cruelty to juvenile. Plead not guilty (to 1st charges). DA is seeking DP.
*Indicted & charged (3/10/21) with 1st degree murder. DA will seek DP.
Suspect texted Justin pretending to be a 15-yr old girl.
Retrial began on 6/19/23 with jury selection & ended on 6/22/23. Jury will be picked from Vernon Parish & transported to DeSoto Parish for the trial proceedings.

Plead not guilty. $200K bond. Bond reduced (4/20/22) to $50K. Should he post bond he is to be placed on intensive supervised bail with an ankle monitor & have no unsupervised contact with children. *Marie Sue Snyder (27 @ time of first crime/32/now 34) “mom” – Fraud: Plead guilty on 10/31/22. Murder: Plead guilty on 10/31/22 & will be sentenced after she testifies at Echo Butler’s trial. Echo plead guilty & was sentenced. Sentencing hearing on 6/15/23 to 2 life sentences.
*Echo Lane Butler (21 @ time of first crime/26/now 27) – Plead guilty on 1/19/23 & sentenced (1/19/23) to 2 consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 9am) - IA - Nohema Graber (66), HS teacher, beaten to death by students, reported missing on Nov. 3, 2021, Fairfield; found in Chautauqua Park on Nov. 3, 2021. - *Willard Noble Chaiden Miller (16/now 17) arrested & charged (11/4/21) & arraigned (11/29/21) with 1st degree murder, an A felony & 1st degree conspiracy to commit homicide in, a C felony. Being charged as adult. Plead not guilty. $1M cash bond.
Trial was set to begin on 4/21/23 was cancelled, Miller took a plea deal & plead guilty to 1st degree murder (4/18/23). Sentencing hearing on 7/6/23.

4/14/23: Order setting hearing on 4/18/23 @ 9am by Judge Shawn Showers. Return of service-Diligent Search-cancelled.
4/18/23 Update: Miller withdrew his not guilty plea in the 2021 death of Nohema & pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder. Iowa Assistant Attorney General Scott Brown told the Judge the State would recommend a minimum prison sentence of 30 years with a possibility of life. Because Miller was 16 at the time of the murder, he is not subject to the mandatory term of life in prison. During the hearing, Brown said Miller planned the murder. In Iowa, the penalty for a 1st degree murder conviction is life in prison. The judge said Miller will not receive mandatory life without the possibility of parole because he is a minor. He will be responsible for restitution & other costs. No sentencing date given. PSI will be scheduled. Sentencing hearing on 7/6/23 @ 9am. Court reporter memo & certificate-McFall/Showers guilty plea. 7/6/23 Thursday, Sentencing Day 2: The jury took less than an hour to return with the decision to sentence Horn to death for the brutal crime.

5/26/23: Motion (D307) for continuance filed by Scott D. Brown. Order (D308) for continuance by Judge Shawn Showers. Sentencing hearing set for 7/6/23. 6/19/23: Victim pecuniary damages statement (D309) filed by Chauncey T. Moulding.
7/6/23 Update: Before delivering his sentence, Judge Shawn Showers rejected defense arguments that Miller was too young at the time to understand the gravity of his actions. Just after 4:00 p.m. the judge in the case sentenced Miller to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 35 years. He was also ordered to pay at least $150,000 (£117,000) in restitution to the victim's family. Attorneys & prosecutors spent the morning calling witnesses to the stand & victim impact statements didn’t start until the afternoon. As part of an agreement with Miller, prosecutors will recommend a sentence between 30 years & life in prison, with the possibility of parole. For Goodale, prosecutors said they’ll recommend a sentence between 25 years ^ life with the possibility of parole.
*Jeremy Everett Goodale (16/now 18) – Plead guilty (4/18/23). Motions for continuance hearing on 7/17/23. Sentencing hearing on 8/23/23. Trying to delay sentencing until October or November.

7/6/23 Update: Ronald Butler entered a guilty plea Thursday afternoon. Butler was charged with endangering the welfare of children & obstruction. Today, he pled no contest to two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children. Butler was credited for time served from Feb. 28 to Sept. 27 of 2022 & will not serve any more time in jail.

7/6/23 Update: Michele Butler entered guilty plea Thursday afternoon. Butler was originally charged with murder of the third-degree, endangering the welfare of children, obstruction, abuse of a corpse, concealing the death of a child, & tampering with evidence. She pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, two counts of endangering the welfare of children & two counts of abuse of a corpse. She was sentenced to 15 years probation & time served as part of a plea deal. Butler's cooperation early on in the investigation helped lead to the discovery of the two bodies buried next to the home. She also helped flip Marie Snyder and got Echo Butler, her daughter, to agree with a plea deal, according to District Attorney Ryan Gardner.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 9am CT) - TX - Thomas Earl McGraw, Jr. (28), Beth Yvette Wilburn (25) & James Craig Oatis (22) all slain in the Corvette Concepts garage, League City, Nov. 2, 1983. *Jesse Dean Kersh (25 @ time of crime/58/now 65) arrested & charged (1/26/16) & indicted (4/21/16) with 3 counts of 1st degree felony murder. Bond $150K. Posted bond (2/5/16). Out of jail. Was taken into custody after guilty verdict.
Trial was set to begin on 10/10/22 with jury selection. Jury was selected, but trial has been cancelled.
Trial began on 5/2/23 & ended on 5/23/23. Jury deliberations Day 1 (5/23/23): ~1 hour 40 mins. Day 2 (5/24/23): 9am-5pm (less 1 hour for lunch): ~7 hours. Day 3: 9am-5pm (less 1 hour lunch): ~ 7 hours. Day 4: 9am to ~11am: ~2 hours. Total: ~17 hours 40 mins.
Felony Division Chief Assistant District Attorney Kayla Allen is assisting First Assistant DA Kevin Petroff in the prosecution of the case.

5/26/23 Friday, Trial Day 15/Verdict Watch Day 4: Jury continued deliberations. Started about 9am to 11am & ended with a guilty verdict on 3 counts of 1st degree murder. Awaiting sentencing hearing date.

Kersh, who had been out on bail, was taken into custody after the guilty verdict. He was convicted under murder statutes as they existed in 1983 and his punishment will be decided by 122nd District Court Judge Jeth Jones. Kersh could be punished with anything from probation to life in prison, Petroff said. A date for the punishment phase of the trial hadn't been scheduled as of Friday afternoon.
7/6/23 Update: Kersh received a total of three life sentences on Thursday after being found guilty of murdering his boss & two others in a horrific triple homicide in League City 40 years ago. Kersh was found guilty of murdering his boss Beth Wilburn, her boyfriend, Tommy McGraw & an electrician who was installing lighting there at Corvette Concept way back in 1983.

*Change of Plea Hearing (@ 8:30am PT) – CA – Fabio Sementilli (49) (Jan. 23, 2017, Los Angeles) – *Monica Sonia Crescentini Sementilli (45/now 51) (wife) arrested (June, 2017), indicted & charged (8/7/17) with capital murder with special circumstances of murder for financial gain & conspiracy to commit murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. DA will not seek DP.
*Robert Louis Baker (55/now 61) (wife’s BF) charged & indicted (8/7/17) with capital murder & conspiracy to commit murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bond.

6/26/23 Update: Next pretrial conference hearing on 7/14/23 @ 8:30am. 7/7/23 Update: The Toronto Sun has exclusively learned that the man accused of stabbing to death famed Toronto hair stylist Fabio Sementilli on the patio of his Los Angeles home in 2017 is expected to plead guilty Friday in Los Angeles. Convicted sex offender Robert Louis Baker will plead to all charges for his role in what cops suspect was a targeted killing that involved a toxic brew of sex & money. Sources told the Sun that Baker agreed last week to plead guilty after six years in the L.A. County Jail. He will cop to his role in the murder in a California courtroom at 8:30am.
7/7/23 Update: Baker admitted (plead no contest/guilty) that he killed celebrity hairdresser Fabio Sementilli on Jan. 23, 2017, leaving him in a pool of blood in what was initially thought to be a home-invasion robbery gone wrong. He was immediately sentenced to life without parole by L.A. County Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen after a steady stream of Sementilli’s loved ones told the court how the mogul’s slaying did irreparable damage to their family.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 2pm CT) – NM – Anastazia Romero (1) (last seen Dec. 13, 2018, Albuquerque, found Jan. 4, 2019 buried in a back yard) – *David “DJ” John Zuber (26/now 31) “father” indicted (5/7/19), recharged (5/8/19) & arraigned (5/20/19) with 1 count of reckless child abuse resulting in death & 1 count of tampering with evidence. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Two other children in custody of CYFD.
Trial was set to begin on 8/8/22 but has agreed to a peal deal. Plead guilty 12/29/22. Sentencing hearing on 4/20/23 was continued with no further dates.
Originally arrested (1/4/19) with child abuse resulting in death, tampering with evidence & conspiracy. Held without bond; Judge released him (1/13/19). DA dismissed (1/8/19) all charges without prejudice, awaiting autopsy report. Recharged on 5/18/19.

Federal Charges: 7/27/21: Zuber is now facing federal drug charges. He was arrested by the DEA for trying to sell 50 grams of meth last October, 2020. He is still in federal custody.
*Monique Romero (23/now 28) “mom” – Abuse: Abuse: Change of Plea hearing on 4/15/22 plead no contest/guilty plea. Possession: charges dismissed without prejudice (10/8/21). Sentenced on 1/25/23 to 5 years to DOC (1826 days) minus 573 PSC.

Cohen accused the company of breaking a contract when it refused to pay about $1.9 million in legal costs after he began cooperating with federal prosecutors. New York Supreme Court-Manhattan/Judge Joel M. Cohen presiding.
Cohen asserts claims for (1) breach of contract, (2) breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, (3) a declaratory judgment setting forth the scope of his rights under the "indemnification agreement," and (4) promissory estoppel. In response, the Trump Organization moves to dismiss Cohen's Complaint on the grounds that no agreement existed; that even if it did, it is void because it was not in writing; and that Cohen's other claims are either duplicative of his contract claim or fail to state viable causes of action.
Cohen said that the Trump Organization had failed to live up to an agreement to pay for any legal fees or related costs Mr. Cohen incurred in his work with the Trump Organization. Cohen is also seeking reimbursement for an additional $1.9 million he was ordered to pay in fines, forfeiture & restitution after he pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws, evading taxes & lying to Congress, the lawsuit said.

But Winstead argued his client should be permitted to called the former first son to the witness stand to question him about his knowledge of the company’s agreement to indemnify Cohen. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Joel Cohen said he wouldn’t bar calling Don Jr. “He’s clearly a fact witness that — if you can legitimately get him here — there is no way I would preclude you from calling him as a witness,” Judge Cohen told Winstead. The parties later concluded Trump wouldn’t needed to be called to testify because both sides would stipulate an agreement was struck in 2017. Winstead told the judge that Cohen — executive vice president of the company for more than a decade –will testify at the trial, which is expected to last about a week. 7/25/23 Update: Daybell’s defense attorneys do not believe Tammy Daybell’s aunt has a right to speak during Lori’s sentencing hearing next week. Vicki Hoban, Tammy Daybell’s aunt, filed a request in June asking Judge Steven Boyce for permission to give a victim impact statement during the sentencing. Boyce initially denied the request saying Idaho law only recognizes “immediate” family members as victims & an aunt does not fit that definition. A presentence report filed Friday shows victim impact statements were submitted by Tammy Daybell’s sister, Samantha Gwilliam, and her father, Ron Douglas, according to a motion filed by Jim Archibald and John Thomas, Lori Daybell’s attorneys. Because of that, they argue Hoban should not speak. “With Tammy’s sister and father submitting letters to the court, it is no longer necessary for the court to designate a family representative for Tammy’s mother. An aunt is not listed as a victim under Idaho law; therefore, the court should not receive comments from Vicki Hoban as a victim,” Archibald wrote. A hearing on the issue will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, 7/26/23 at 9:30am.
7/26/23 Update: Judge Boyce denied defense motion re Tammy’s aunt not to have the right to speak at Vallow’s sentencing. Next sentencing hearing on 7/31/23.
7/29/23 Update: During Vallow’s sentencing, four people are expected to give victim impact statements, or statements about how the crimes affected their family & their lives. Those who wanted to give impact statements at the sentencing had to submit a request – under Idaho law, the only people allowed to give victim impact statements during a sentencing have to be immediate family members of the murder victim(s). Vallow’s only surviving child, 27-year-old Colby Ryan, is expected to speak along with Summer Shiflet, who is Vallow’s sister. Kay Woodcock, the grandmother of JJ Vallow, is also expected to give a statement in court. Vallow was also convicted of conspiring to murder her husband Chad Daybell’s wife at the time, Tammy Daybell. Her aunt, Vicki Hoban, will likely give a victim impact statement at the time of sentencing.

6/15/23: Order-Pace defendant sub under confidential. What is likely blood evidence has been found on Armstrong's T-shirt he was wearing the morning he was arrested & charged with his parents' murders, according to multiple sources. A hearing is expected to happen Tuesday in which Judge Kelli Johnson will ultimately decide whether or not the evidence will be allowed into Armstrong's third capital murder trial. The hearing could last several days before she rules. Multiple motions were filed Wednesday in regards to the hearing, though they have been sealed from the public. Next motion to suppress evidence hearing on 6/20/23 @ 9:30am.
6/20/23 Update: The motions hearing that was scheduled for Tuesday morning to consider a motion to suppress evidence in Armstrong, Jr's case has now been delayed until the start of the 7/31/23. Court site has trial starting at 10:30am.

7/31/23 Update: Judge Boyce addressed Vallow & reminded her of the arraignment for charges & recapped the jury trial & amended indictment as well as the guilty verdict on all counts. Judge read the six bounts. Boyce has reviewed the pre-sentence investigation report & confirmed the prosecution has also see the PSI. But Vallow chose not to participate in the process. Defense attorney Jim Archibald objects to the PSI. Defense has no witnesses but John Thomas says Vallow may speak. Rob Wood says State will not be calling any witnesses but four victim impact statements will be given. Rob Wood gave State's recommendation. Only a sentence of life without parole is acceptable.John Thomas gave recommendation for sentencing. Defense asks for a 20 year term with an indeterminate term of life. Vallow gave her statement.
Judge's sentencing:
Court 1--conspiracy to commit murder & grand theft by deception--life in prison without parole.
Count 2--1st degree murder of Tylee--life without parole.
Count 3--Conspiracy to commit murder & grand theft by deception--life in prison without parole.
Count 4--1st degree murder of JJ--life without parole.
Count 5--Conspiracy to commit murder of Tammy--life in prison without parole.
Count 6--Grand theft--Judge is debating on consecutive or concurrent sentence.
Judge gives 3 consecutive life terms for each murder & the rest of the charges' sentencing will run concurrent.
Civil penalties of $5K for each victim ($22.5K)
Vallow has 42 days to file an appeal.

*Plea Hearing (@ 9am CT) - TX - JeB (6) & JesB (9), abducted by Jame Burns their paternal grandmother in 2009 Black Ford Escape SUV, McKinney on Jan. 19, 2023. An Amber Alert issued are believed “to be in grave or immediate danger". The reason LE believe the girls to be in danger is due to her earlier meth-related arrest. Girls were found Jan. 22, 2023 & are safe. *Jame Lynn Burns aka Jame Lynn Roth & Jani L Roth (60/now 61) arrested & charged (1/22/23) & arraigned (1/23/23) with 2 felony counts of kidnapping in addition to previous charges of child abandon/endangerment criminal negligence, possession of a controlled substance & unauthorized use of vehicle. Bond $33K for endangerment & $200K for kidnapping.
*Indicted (4/21/23) 2 counts of kidnapping & unauthorized use of vehicle.

7/7/23 Update: Announcement hearing was rescheduled on 7/28/23. 7/26/23 Update: Cancelled announcement hearing on 7/28/23. Video plea at jail. Sentencing: Defendant appeared in person & by attorney. Defendant waived a jury & arraignment. Defendant warned & admonished. Defendant pleads guilty & is found guilty on their plea & on the evidence beyond a reasonable doubt of the offense. Punishment is assessed 5 years confinement in TDCJ & a fine of $0. Credit for 186 days back time served.
*Justin Lee Burns (34) “father” – Announcement hearing on 5/26/23 failed to appear, bond forfeit & issued arrest warrant. Was rearrested on 7/7/23.
