Truck crash kills 4, injures 17 on Michigan interstate

The semitractor-trailer and more than a dozen other vehicles caught fire after the crash, police said.

A semitractor-trailer crashed into backed-up traffic on a Michigan interstate, killing four people and injuring 17 others just before midnight on Saturday, police said.

My understanding is this was a scheduled shut down for utility work and had just reopened when the truck slammed into the backed-up traffic. If that is correct, the highway patrol is going to be front and center in receiving blame. Clearly the truck driver has to be in control of his vehicle. But what was the warning time he had? Patrol knew these cars were backed up.
