I am sure someone here with a better memory than I can answer this for me.
A few years ago, a young man was found alive approximately 3 years after he had gone missing following a car accident. When he was found, I believe the articles published implied that he may have been confused / disoriented after the crash (due to the crash and/or some mental illness) and never returned home because of that.
I can picture him in my mind and for the life of me, I can't remember his name. Googling it didn't help at all.
