''Here are key updates as they happen:
''Flags at federal buildings will fly at half-mast for the next seven days, a visibly emotional Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters on Parliament Hill.
“The world is with you,” he said to Tumbler Ridge community members.
He also said several world leaders have reached out to him to offer condolences, including those of Britain, France, India, Finland, Norway, Australia, and “his majesty himself.”
''Condolences poured in from across Canada and beyond, with officials such as Ontario Premier Doug Ford, French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering their sympathies to the victims and their families on social media as news of the attacks spread.

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said “no one should remain indifferent” when children are killed. “Such tragedies should never happen anywhere, in any country in the world,” he wrote.''

Female suspect? That is very unusual for school shootings.

I am, yes. I should have said re: post 33, so my apologies for that. I didn't want to quote the reply because of said photo. But yes, I believe including the photos until there is full confirmation is not a good idea and from everything I have seen, the first photo that was spread about is a person from another province and not the person named by the locals. The other X accounts who spread that photo and another one have already walked it back because it was not the same person.

If I am wrong myself, I will walk it back as well.

I saw that. Sean Hannity made a mistake early on and walked it back. Not without taking shots at our country's law enforcement and media

This article contains a survivor story.

Tumbler Ridge mass shooting: What we know so far

The town has a population of 2400 people, with 160 students registered to the school. In addition to the attack at the school, two more victims were found at a nearby residence.

Canadian police say nine people have been killed in a mass shooting at a school and home in the remote rural community of Tumbler Ridge in the western province of British Columbia.

Another 25 people were injured, and the suspect's body was also found at the scene.

I've been using the word "female" and not girl or woman, because I don't know how old that person was.

Investigators have identified a female suspect but have not released her name. They said the motive remains unclear, and police are still investigating the connection between the shooter and the victims.

The police briefing did confirm the name. Sorry I don't have a link. But, now it's officialy out there (with different last name than has been previously reported).

"Who is Jesse Strang?
Mass shooter, 18,
who killed mom Jennifer and brother
before murdering seven at Canadian high school.

Strang was named by police on Wednesday as
Jesse Van Rootselaar.

It is understood the person used mother's name, Strang, socially and at school."

Shooter’s mother, sibling among victims in Tumbler Ridge shooting.

One woman, previously reported as deceased is actually still alive.

A family member to the shooter told the neighbours about the initial killings, prompting a call to police.

“We were called because a neighbour – there was a young female at that home that went to the neighbour’s – and that’s how we learned there were two deceased at that residence,” RCMP Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said.

“The incident at the home occurred first, and from there our suspect attended the school and commenced their criminal activity there, and that’s how we learned there were two deceased at that residence,” McDonald added.

Hmmm.... 🤔

"Police also have a history of attendance at the family home,
with officers responding to calls relating to both mental illness and weapons.

'Police have attended that residence in the past,
approximately a couple of years ago,
where firearms were seized under the Criminal Code',
McDonald said.

'I can say that at a later point in time,
the lawful owner of those firearms petitioned for those firearms to be returned,
and they were'."

Oh well,
the same old story it seems.
JMO

RIP to All Victims
Condolences to Families. :(

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>
Guns without license, mental health, visits from LE over the years, was held on the Mental health Act at some point,
Left school at 14?
"The rightful owner" was able to get the guns back. Was this the mother? These guns were back in that household.

This appears to be one of the biggest "lose-lose" situations I have ever seen.

I am just gut wrenched over these 25 injured, as well as the 9 killed.
Mother, brother and so many CHILDREN killed and injured.
How many bullets over how long a period of time?

But I am also feeling so very very sad for the transgender community and all their friends and loved ones, who will, yet again, probably have to experience insufferable negativity.

my pained opinion only.

This is all I have seen ... no real specifics on that yet.

Two firearms were recovered at the scene – a long gun and a modified handgun. Police are still working to determine their origins and role in the incident.

Also ...

Those killed at the school were a 39-year-old teacher, three 12-year-old female students and two male students aged 12 and 13. One victim was found in the stairwell, and the others were located in the school’s library.

The suspect had a firearms license that had expired in 2024 and did not currently have any firearms registered to her.

The suspect had dropped out of Tumbler Ridge secondary school about four years ago and was not currently a student there.

I’m praying for the two survivors, both are now in critical but stable condition. My thoughts, love and prayers go out to all the victims. 🙏🏼🤍

The Nova Scotia thing was a LOT different, because it had multiple sites over a couple of days, and they weren't sure at first who was doing it. That was definitely one of the strangest mass crimes I've ever heard of.
Major Domestic Violence involved. The shooter I mean in NS.
