"Turin Winter Olympics 2006 - Schedule & Info Sharing"

... I love the skiing events, especially the Giant Slalom, the Bobsleds, Luge and Skeletons. The Womens Figure Skating should be interesting. I hope Michelle Kwan is healthy enough to vie for the Gold, they say she is. I felt bad for Emily Hughes not making it to the Olympics. She got the last spot after the Nationals, but, got bumped out by Kwan with her medical hardship. I hope Michelle does well, but, if she's still limited due to that injury, I know I won't be too happy with the qualifying process. Emily has a great future in front of her, she'll be there in the next Olympics.

Thanks 13th! What a neat deal to have posted on our site.

Hey Sandraladalada, I feel almost Canadian myself now that I am entranced with DaVinci's Inquest. He is such a man that guy - oh I do love that show. Can't miss a day without seeing it!

Oh my goodness, gotta go. I see the dog championship is on. Can't miss that either! LOL LOL

Darn, it was just a re-run of the Ecanuba Dog Show from last year whan that incredible Bloodhound won. I thought there was a dog show coming up mid-Feb. Does anyone know? Sorry to be OT.

I'm of course pulling for Michelle, but reports are kind of 'ify' as of the last report.

Kwan indicates she's considering pulling out of Olympics

San Jose Mercury News

TURIN, Italy - Michelle Kwan, the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, on Saturday left open the possibility of withdrawing from the Winter Olympics.

"Dropping out is not something I want to do," Kwan said Saturday. "I have to listen to what my feelings are."

Kwan, who has won both bronze and silver Olympic medals, practiced for the first time here Saturday morning. She said she experienced stiffness in her groin and that she was frustrated. She cut short her 45-minute session by 15 minutes and failed on three attempts to land a triple-flip jump, falling once.

"Physically, if I'm not able to skate, I would give up my spot," she said.

Kwan was granted a medical bye onto the Olympic team, after a groin injury sidelined her for the U.S. championships last month. On Jan. 27, U.S. Figure Skating judges observed her practice and ruled her fit for competition.

... Thanks TG! Hmmmm, interesting!! That's the first I've seen that! A groin injury takes a long time to heal and if you don't rest it it'll keep getting aggravated, I've had a few of them, they're awful and painful. Michelle supposedly did well in front of the commitee to gain the medical hardship to skate in the Olympics. I don't blame her and give her credit for trying. I had a feeling a couple weeks ago that her injury would still limit her at or around the time the Olympics started. If she drops out I'm assuming they'll ask Hughes to compete. She is probably not mentally prepared, but, would be ecstatic to have the chance to skate. We'll see I guess. Thanks again for posting that article TG!

Yeah Stan, you're right on about Huges going in if Michelle can't, at least that's what I think I just heard on the news.

I'd still like Michelle to try, but it would look be bad for her mentally I think to not be able to give her best performance possible.

Kwan has officialy dropped out. A request for Hughes to replace her has been made.

Hughes has been named as her replacement. Now she just need to find a way to fly out of NY despite the blizzard.

Good Sunday morning Scandi n' all :)

Hey, funny you should mention the "dog show", Scandi. Just before reading your post, I had just finished setting my Tivo to record the "Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show" on the USA channel.

Monday, Feb. 13th ~ 8 pm - 11:05 pm (opening)

Tuesday, Feb. 14th ~ 8 pm - 11:00 pm (closing)

I'm a huge fan too!!! :D

The Westminister show conflicts with the primetime broadcast of the Olympics but, I'm recording both - using my pause feature and switching back & forth between the two. <lol>

** The primetime Olympics broadcast is repeated again on NBC early on both Tues. & Wed. mornings - from 1:30 am - 5:00 am .. to watch or record.

All you dog & animal lovers - Enjoy!! :D

Good mornin' Olympic fans! :)

I was saddened early this morning to hear that Michelle had to drop out of the skating competition. She has spent so much of her life & energy striving to win 'THAT Gold Medal' . But, quite honestly - I wasn't the least bit surprised at the news. That fateful decision was all over her face yesterday after her 1st practice. She looked truly 'pained'.

We all know that winning the Olympic Gold' meant so very much to Michelle! It was just about the only prestigious competition she had not captured. Still - Kwan is a true champion - winning just about every other title imaginable. I absolutely applaud her decision and hope spunky Emily Hughes is able to capitalize on her opportunity to compete in the 2006 games.

I still think the battle in this Olympics is and always has been between Irina Slutskaya & Sasha Cohen. Both are phenomenal figure skaters - and most deserving of "gold"!!

I truly want every competitor to skate their best performance ever - and let the gold, silver & bronze medals be determined by that magnificent performance alone - regardless of 'flag or country'.

I'm also delighted that the fairer 'new scoring system' is in place. (No repeats of the Salt Lake City fiasco - as with Jamie & David & the corrupt French judge!)

JMHO ... :)

Sasha Cohen goes to my same physical therapist. She is wildly popular around here as she is the local girl. She is a sweetie.

... I like Sasha too Jelly, and well said 13th Juror! In my opinion Michelle knew she wasn't going to be able to compete in the Olympics when she first injured her groin. The healing process in those injuries is very time consuming. I'm a big Sarah and Emily Hughes fan, as they're from this area. I was so happy for Sarah when she won the gold in 2002. You can't take any of Michelle's accomplishments away from her, she's one of our best of all time and the commitee gave her the opportunity to shake off her injury, deservingly so. I agree, the gold should go to Sasha or Irina, but, you never know, remember 2002!!
