Former Dubai Police chief Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan on Wednesday denounced the confusion shown by Turkish security in uncovering the details of the disappearance of Saudi writer and journalist Jamal Khashoggi, one week since his disappearance in Istanbul.

The outspoken former police chief told Al Arabiya English: “So-called unknown operation is not relevant in today’s crime science. Today, police forces have advanced capabilities to locate and determine those behind the crime.”

“The security authorities can determine the last location of Jamal Khashoggi, even without any surveillance cameras, and the logic of research and investigation, is that it can be reached and does not require all this ambiguity,” he said.

Suspicions surrounding Khashoggi’s self-claimed fiancée Hatice Cengiz first arose following a background check that showed her connections to Qatar, the country with state-sponsored media outlets that had been adamantly accusing Saudi authorities of murdering Khashoggi.

Cengiz’s Twitter feed reveals that she follows and endorses people who are critics of Saudi Arabia, organizations known to enjoy Qatari funding, Muslim Brotherhood members and Turkey’s ruling party. She has even openly tweeted that she opposes Saudi policies.

Despite being former employee of a prominent mews agency in Turkey, and identifying himself as journalist, Turan became more of an activist. He camped outside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul since Khashoggi’s disappearance and lead protests against Saudi authorities.

Media outlets continue to rehash news reports claiming that missing Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi has been killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, despite statements from Turkish President Recep Tayib Erdogan himself, who refuted the claims and said he is hopeful the writer will emerge unharmed.
Prior to last Friday, media outlets affiliated with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar carried a news report that claimed that Saudi Arabia had detained Khashoggi inside its consulate in Istanbul.
On Friday, a team from Reuters news agency entered the consulate and made sure Khashoggi was not there.
Hence, Reuters published an "Exclusive report" that cited a theory, and weak, unnamed sources claiming that Turkish police believe Saudi journalist Khashoggi was killed in consulate

Sabah, a pro-government private newspaper in Turkey, on Tuesday listed 15 names alongside photographs of men who authorities believe were flown into Istanbul from Riyadh. The state-run Anadolu news agency later published similar details on eight of the individuals.

They meant to kill him as opposed to kidnap; the '15 man Hit Team' included a Forensic Expert; you don't bring one of those along unless you plan to do something nasty. I'm still trying to process this; this is 'totally outrageous', surely the Saudi's knew that the Embassy was monitored 24/7 by various different countries.

Turkish officials have an audio recording of the alleged killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi from the Apple Watch he wore when he walked into the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul over a week ago, a pro-government Turkish newspaper reported Saturday.

The new claim published by the Sabah newspaper, through which Turkish security officials have leaked much information about the case, didn’t immediately explain how officials there also reportedly have video of Khashoggi’s alleged slaying.

However, it puts more pressure on Saudi Arabia to explain what happened to Khashoggi, who has written critically about Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, after he walked into the consulate Oct. 2. The kingdom has maintained the allegations against it are “baseless,” though an official early Saturday acknowledged for the first time some believe Khashoggi was killed by the kingdom.

Authorities recovered the audio from Khashoggi’s iPhone and his iCloud account, the newspaper said. The journalist had given his phones to his fiancée before entering the consulate.

Missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi may have recorded his own death, a Turkish newspaper reported Saturday morning.

Khashoggi turned on the recording function of his Apple Watch before walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, according to Sabah newspaper.
The moments of his "interrogation, torture and killing were audio recorded and sent to both his phone and to iCloud," the pro-government, privately owned newspaper paper reported. The Turkish newspaper said conversations of the men involved in the reported assassination were recorded.
Security forces leading the investigation found the audio file inside the phone Khashoggi left with his fiancé, according to Sabah.




Amid outcry, there are few signs Trump will cut off Saudis
Upon noticing the watch, Sabah reports, Khashoggi's assailants tried to unlock the Apple Watch with multiple password attempts, ultimately using Khashoggi's fingerprint to unlock the smart watch. They were successful in deleting only some of the files, Sabah reported.

The allegations that a Saudi Arabian journalist was killed and dismembered by agents of his own government earlier this month are both grotesque and chilling. They obviously require a thorough investigation and, if true, must be followed by punishment or sanctions for those responsible. But the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi could also lead to an overdue shift in U.S. policy toward Saudi Arabia, which under the Trump administration has been irresponsibly indulgent.

President Trump, who presumably has been briefed on what U.S. intelligence has learned about this incident, said that “to reporters, to anybody, we cannot let this happen.” But he also, disappointingly, tried to distance himself from the situation, noting that Khashoggi wasn’t a U.S. citizen and that he disappeared in Turkey rather than in the United States.

Although the Apple watch could feasibly send a recording; the distance of the I-Phone was too far away for that to work (tech expert saying that). It has no video functions. Turkish law enforcement are saying audio & video; I think it's a good distraction for the Turks to be taking about the Apple watch; so they don't have to talk about their own spying activities. People who help cover this up; become complicit.
