I just read this comment from someone...hmm.. What do you all think?

The Turkish police have detained several suspects and testing them for matching DNA evidence. This makes me think again on what I suggested before. That Sarai’s online friend might have been trying to set her up to be taken by a sex trafficking ring. But once the alarm was sounded and Sarai’s face was plastered all over the Internet and on Turkish TV, she became a liability and had to be killed.

Sarai in my opinion doesn't fit the ideal profile for sex trafficking.
Don't they usually take young homeless, girls and drug addicts for that?I wouldn't think they would take a mother of 2 young children that has lots of friends and a family.

This is what the reporter in front of the Gayrettepe Police Station just told:

They have footage of Sarai walking alone from Sirkeci to Cankurtaran, where the ruins are and not coming back. She was probably attacked there. They aren't exacly sure if it happened right on that spot or nearby and then moved to the dehliz (cave).

Can the people who are great with maps & Turkish neighborhood names map this on one of the maps we have going? I'm having a hard time picturing where they have film of her walking compared to the Bridge and where she was ultimately found.

BBM

Exactly. Someone told her to meet them there in advance. It explains the shoes, it explains the missing electronics (gotta get rid of any messages that would show this pre-arranged meeting being set up, and gotta hide who set it up with her), it explains how she managed to walk on her own to the place. She was probably given directions and agreed to meet someone there. Whoever she was meeting told her that she'd have some climbing to do, so bring appropriate footwear.

About the shoes:

She may have brought extra shoes every day, in her pack, just in case her boots hurt and/or she found someplace to hike for pictures. Maybe that's why her sister knew she had extras with her - in their Skype Sarai could have said something casual like: "I walk practically 10 miles a day around the city - I even bring extra shoes in case I find someplace to hike" Or "I'm going to see if I can hike up those rocks I saw pictures of - I'm packing my hiking boots just in case" etc.

Hang on, what is this about?

Sierra had fought for her life and was found wearing only a shirt and underwear, a top police official told The News Tuesday.

I thought her jeans and underwear were pulled down to her knees? Now she was found without any pants on at all?

Yes, i just logged on here to post that very statement. It contradicts the previous info about her lower body clothing being pulled. Hmmm

I don't think what happened can be connected to sex trafficking, usually in Europe (and middle East) they tend to get girls from eastern Europe coming from difficult situations. Kidnapping an American tourist in Turkey would attract too much attention.

Today the new reports were saying her trousers were not on but found in the hole with her.

I translated it earlier.

All of her hashtags are tagged NY so and the photo was uploaded 4 weeks ago so I believe it's NYC.

No, I think it's either Amsterdam or Istanbul. Posted just after a mosque picture makes Istanbul a possibility. As I mentioned before, we know that she first came to Istanbul (I think on 7 Feb), flew to Amsterdam and came back to Istanbul again.

Why are there so many different stories? Which one is a reliable source?

I must have missed that, so thank you. It's enough to make me insane, all these changing details. Just when I think I can consider something fact it changes on me.

I think there is more than one reason for this. There's a language barrier for one thing. Along with that are translation challenges- some of the articles are written in Turkish, translated to English, back to Turkish again. Someone was saying upthread that if it is not a "clean" translation it could totally change the meaning of what was really said. Finally, someone else speculated that some of these officials that are being quoted in the press- the anonymous officials- might have reason to put a false detail into an otherwise accurate account, to keep from being identified by their superiors. They're not allowed to talk to the press without permission to do so.

There is a name next to it so it could be true. The people in discussing the case are: criminology, crime, psychology experts. One of them said how could media know it before a report is published. They also said if it is somebody she knew he might have used condom etc.

They've been discussing DNA bank in the UK for the 10 minutes. I am not sure how long I'll continue watching.

"The Milliyet newspaper said a forensic medicine lab will examine samples from Sierra's fingernails as well as hair and other samples from a blanket found near her body. It said some nail scrapings suggest she may have tried to fight off her attacker"

Maybe why they are interested in the DNA evidence?

I know, it's weird for them to have been so specific "they were pulled down to the top of her knees!" and also completely wrong....

It is very sad.

I don't think what you suggested could be true as they know that she died on 21st before even her family knew that she is missing.

Most of those people are the ones who live around with a criminal record.
Others are the people she met.

i actually saw that comment on another website under the comments and it caught my eye but your totally right

Whoever the news media sources are I think they are changing some details as to not hinder any case and not be traced back to them. I'm sure they don't want to leak everything to the media.

As for sex trafficking, at 33 she's way above the age that the pimps recruit and to reiterate- unless your Eastern European and looking for work, being kidnapped as a tourist in Turkey doesn't happen. See my rant on Taken.

If its not an acquaintance, there is a possibility that she went there by herself to take pictures and interrupted some addicts getting high. Sadly, I know that heroin addicts can be very violent when high and I can see one or more beating her to death:( you would think that her Istanbul friends would warn her away from the area but in many ways they did not appear to be that helpful.

Sarai wasn't Jewish, they NY papers printed the church they attended. And I'm 99.999999% sure she want killed because she was an American.

Yes, that's a probability, but the things that are missing are her cell phone and i-pad. Why would a heroine addict being high want to get rid of her technological equipment but leave her jewellery and wallet? The last person who she has talked has deleted his instagram and gmail account. Those are very suspicious moves.
And basing on what are you so sure that she was killed because she was an American?

Here's more from the discussion on TV:

Some former expert said "killer must be someone she knew, who respected her enough to leave her jewelry". But not enough to let her live?

Another one asks "how come the body wasn't discovered by others. It had been 13 days."

Some expert said "this is not an execution. So "drug mule" or "spy" theories don't make sense." Then he adds maybe they wanted us to think so. (If I heard it right.)

BTW, I don't understand why she left her passport in her room. US driver's license means nothing in Turkey.
