she just kind of has that average, common. non-threatening, 'girl-next door' appeals-to- the-highest-number-of-potential-genetic-mates kind of look. and oooooooh, look i have a flat stomach. well, big deal, so does the redneck next door. you're (or, you were-) a teenager, and you pay thousand of dollar$ to trainers to keep you looking that way. not enough to warrant making a diety out of someone.... lol it's just glorified youth-worship and we all know youth and perfect looks fade, she's already been knocked up so she's proven that she's a big girl and she's fertile. OK,, so now what? what happens when you can't get by on your little seductive, kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬, sexy-virgin thing anymore? when you've built your whole career on that, what comes after...? ...a long, slow, painful decline as all the illusions come crashing down, and then a lifetime of "behind the music" and "whatever happened to?" episodes about your life.. like sooooooo many before you. same story, different sex kitten. there's really not enough talent and actual substance there- imo- to keep her afloat, it's all harmless fluff and lots of glossy packaging.
(then again that's what they said about glam rock and disco, and look how that's enjoying a huge resurgence of interest......!?)

as the stones say... baby, baby, baby, you're out of tiii-iii-iime.....

oh my god gonzo,, you are SO right.... i MUST write W right away, thank you for bringing my attention to this. troops surge, troop schmurge, let's stick the the really important topics here.....!

you know what's going to happen, i bet.. she will get in that place, they will smack her around a bit and tell her to get herself together... get her medicated (or, re-medicated??) and then when she's stablizied, the record execs will send their reps in for some emergency meetings.. and they will have conferences about what she should say, and how they will do damage control.. then she will start making appearances all tidied up with some brand-new hair extensions, maybe a little nip & tuck, saying "i apologize for my behavior, i don't know what got into me... everything's all better now, and i'm ready to go back to stripping on stage for the world, like a good little prostitute. i am completely cured, and i will not longer have these strangely human outbursts or express my emotions like this. i was bad, bad, very bad.... (enter clockwork orange imagery here, at end of film.....lol)

wee, this is fun!

"Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens."

LOL.. i know, i love that part.. one of the best parts of the whole movie. WOW,, OK-- so,, even if bush went bonkers and decided to nuke the entire middle east? does britney even know where the middle east is? yeah, OK, we should just trust him! whatever!

I also agree that Britney was/is a very "average" looking gal. Not to say she's ugly or anything - but I never thought of her as a beauty - or even interesting. And she can sing no better than the hundreds of Miss America contestants over the years. Britney was a creation: packaged, marketed, stage-shows, airbushed & photo-shopped. That doesn't mean she's a bad person - I'm just saying I never thought she was anything special - looks or talent-wise.

Look at Gwen Stefani, Christina A, even Madonna. Now, Madonna might not have the vocal range of say, Mariah - but Madonna was smart as hell - she knew how to market herself! Whereas Britney didn't have much of a brain in her head and allowed everyone else to market & develop her. I think there's a big difference there.

Gwen S started out in rasta-type garage bands - made her own costumes - developed her own look - they developed their own sound. Britney's was developed for her. Again, big difference.

My point is - Britney was celebrated as this huge artist - and I wonder sometimes if she knew she really wasn't all that. She met and associated with the real talents. She had to have known on some level that she was woefully inferior.

Then look what happens with her husband. He trys to put out this stupid album and becomes a complete laughing-stock. I wonder how that felt to know not only you are not a true talent - but then have the world laughing hysterically at your idiot husband. Imagine the world was sniggering at your husband - that's got to have an effect on you.

If I were Britney's mom I would have suggested she move somewhere very low-profile. Maybe a lovely home in the South - like where she's from - Louisiana - and live a quiet, dignified Southern life for while and just enjoy being a mamma. Work in the garden, drink iced tea on the terrace, horseback riding, take some classes/get the education you clearly missed out on. 🤬🤬🤬🤬, this girl has $70 million dollars or whatever - take a load of for a while.....enjoy your family, enjoy life!! Maybe in a year or two when the kids are a little bigger she could get back to her industry - but in a different way - not the pre-pubescent pop-star she once was - but look into other areas of the music industry. It's just so sad because there were about a million avenues this girl could have taken instead of the path she's on now. She could be having a very nice life and yet she chose to party pantiless with Paris and all the rest. Come on, girl! Get your head on straight and enjoy life.

And, enjoy your children as they are only young once. She has enough money to last more than a lifetime. The life you describe is attainable by Britney. Anyone would love to live like that. I know that I would. :)

oh, dammit. must be a really slow news day... the war rages on, how many people got killed today? 30? 300? who knows. america's going to hell, gap between rich & poor widening every day, let's play the fiddle while rome burns. so somehow i've ended up on the 'twitney' thread (lol!), wondering what's the latest with her & her panties (narla? you here? lol)... crap, it feels like i've lost a few millions brain cells already.

anyway... i have little interest in this person other than the fact that she symbolizes how utterly dumbed-down our culture has gotten- so maybe there's some kitsch value there...? maybe if you're a 12 year-old girl dreaming of becoming a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 star, or a pervert dreaming of 12-year old girls.... well, maybe she'd be your cup of tea. as for the music-- yuck, pretty fake & cheesy, from what i've heard. then again this is teenybopper music we're taking about here... and we are all adults here, aren't we......??

anyway.... i just heard that miss thing shaved off her lovely golden locks and attacked the paparazzi with an umbrella. and to that,, i just have one thing to say -----AWESOME----- YOU GO!!!
and so now everyone's all freaked out saying she's insane and needs to be locked up?? please, that's probably the sanest thing she's ever done!!
this girl whored herself out to the hiddest bidder at a young age... and spread her underage T & A all over the world, flaunting her mostly-naked body in pornographic videos, performances, magazines.. feeding the fantasies of pedophiles everywhere.. and she now wonders why everyone's obsessed with her & wants everyone to leave her alone? please. sorry, she created that monster... you reap what you sow honey. too bad your momma never taught you that.
still, you can only be a fake perfect celebrity for so long.... and i think this is her way of saying a big "F- YOU" to the world, to fame, to the paparazzi, to everyone who expects her to be this perfect thing, because i think in her heart she just really wants to be poor white trash, living in a trailer knocked up with 5 kids.. so for chrissakes, people. just let her be that! she can't sing anyway, and i wouldn't call what she does dancing- from what i've seen she just kind of writhes & flops her head around. the rest is just smoke, mirrors, and lots of airbrushing. like most child stars, she probably has no idea who she is... and having the world treat you like you are god incarnate is enough to drive anyone insane. and yet everyone is like "quick-- put that girl away... so she can get 'fixed'-- learn to behave, and act like her normal (i.e., slutty) self again", yeah- and go back to being a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 to the pop-music machine, cranking out no-brainer hits for the music industry CEO's to make millions from... so i say, shave it all off girl... go ballistic.. smash some more cars up, beat up some more paparazzi stalkers, gnash your teeth, scream and curse. c'mon,, let us know you're human!! the only thing that would have been even cooler.. was if she'd put a manson 'x' on her forehead-- that would have really freaked everyone out! can you imagine?? that would have been awesome.

as for her kids... well, too bad she procreated in the first place... but,, too late now. if she really hates the publicity, she can always RETIRE, go live with her millions.. and spare us her squeaky, herky-jerky, over-processed, little-girl robot voice. hey-- if you don't want to do anything constructive with your fame, then at least go live in your mansion, let yourself go, and eventually the paparazzi really will leave you alone. problem solved.
and maybe in her spare time she could actually go to college & get an education.. (hhmmm,, now there's a radical concept).. not only improving her own life (and brain)-- but also she'd be setting a good example, for once.
as for the alleged pill problem.. jeezus, didn't she ever read judy garland's biography? human beings are just not cut out for the american "star machine". like i always say... fame kills.

LOL- I'm in a "mixed state" after reading your post. Mixed between laughing and rolling my eyes and nodding my head. Leave it to reb to make such great points :)

I think she was told for too long that she's so great at what she does that she never realized it was a possibility that she may not be great.

It's important as parents that we teach our kids they are not the best at everything they try.

I agree that Britney seems to have no clue who she is. I hope she finds herself, I honestly do.

When Britney did her "Baby one more Time" video and the subsequent cover shoots, etc. - she was a young girl being exploited - in every way. Those cover shots on Rolling Stone of her in just her underware - the increasingly sexualized packaging of her, etc. THAT'S where I think her parents really dropped the ball. Instead of carefully considering what was happening to their own daughter and putting their foot down at some point - they just let the machine suck their daughter right in.
Brit-Brit was 17 when she did the RS cover. She was not a child and in show biz, kids younger than her routinely call the shots. IMO Brit-Brit KNEW what she was doing she KNEW what would sell. As I said before, I think she is very smart when it comes to the biz, but she has a hard time with the 'real life' stuff. Being a grown-up and a mom is a lot harder than being a pop star.

Could not agree more. And yeah, I think she finally figured out she 'ain't all that'.

is that what they call 'whoring yourself out' these days?

Well, Reb dear that is what you have to do these days to appeal to the idiots I like to call the 'general public'. Geez, thought everyone knew that.

17 is still a minor child! And, I guess this is just my opinion, but in a million years I would never consent to allowing my minor daughter to pose on a national magazine in a sexualized manner clad in only a small pair of underpants!

Frankly, I don't think it makes sense when you say Britney knew what she was doing / knew what would sell. For one thing anyone with a remotely average IQ knows that in America sex sells! So what if Britney "knew" that? She was a 17 year old girl in a voracious business. It was up to her parents to guide and protect her - not have her exploited.

And I do agree that being a grown-up and a mom is a tough job! But I try to always remember as I'm raising my son - I'm raising him to be the best grown-up he can be. So he can be a good husband or dad someday. I don't think Britney was every brought-up that way. Her parents were consumed with the pop-star life of their daughter which must have been overwhelming. But I think they lost sight - which is understandable, considering - of the important, basic, things in life. Raising their daughter to be an educated, intelligent, self-secure, giving woman. I do think they dropped the ball in that respect because they were so busy with all the videos, photo-shoots, concerts, etc.

Anyway, hopefully Britney - and her parents - can heal from all of this and come out of it for the better.

I can see that. If her goal is to get better for her kids, she's not going to want "fans" to pester her with stupid questions and mindless jabber while she is focusing on herself. I'd be the same way, only, being poor, I'd have to just superglue everyone's door shut on the wing while they were inside.

Troubled pop star Britney Spears has reportedly demanded an entire wing at the California rehab center where she is undergoing treatment be cleared - for her privacy.

Spears, who was admitted to the Promises Clinic in Malibu last Tuesday and re-admitted again on Thursday after checking herself out the day before, doesn't want to mix with other patients, according to press reports.

I hope BS has learned some lessons about friends - good friends and bad friends. imo, friends like Paris Hilton who encourage you, a new mother, to go out and party all the time, in a totally hedonistic, narcisistic way are NOT friends. Friends bring out the best in you, discourage you from falling down in your responsibilities, recognize when you are in a vulneable time in your life (such as post-partem and post-marital break up) I am not taking away from BS's own responsibility for her behavior, but look at what a good effect Paris has had on others in her world - Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan - weren't they all BFFs at one time?

This is indicative of the mindset that has gotten her where she is, imo. Total self-centeredness. She wants attention, courts it, then she doesn't. Then she does. Then she doesn't. It's all about her, all the time. Control issues.

Betty Ford structured her program so even Liz Taylor had a roomie. So did Betty when she went into treatment, and she said she learned from it. These people need to get down to earth. Deal with people, life and conflict like everybody else. While in rehab she needs to eat what everyone else does, sleep in the same quarters, etc.

Here is an example of rehab rules that would give any pop-princess pause.

*No cell-phones, laptops, or other electronic means of communication with the outside world. Very limited phone calls, usually 10 min. on a shared phone, limited to certain hours of the day.
* No TV in the rooms, limited access in common areas. Yes, I said common area, you will share.
*No visitors for the first two weeks, limited weekly visits after that. Visitors allowed only in common areas, no private visits in your room.
*You may not bring mouthwash, aerosol sprays including hairspray and cologne, hair care products or cleansing products containing alcohol, nail polish remover, curling irons, or anything else which can be used to get a buzz or as a weapon.
*You will likely have a strict schedule with early morning wake-up and very little free time. No extra naps or sleeping in. bedtimes are enforced, staff does bed-checks at least once a night. Yes, they look at you to see if you are in the correct bed...no hooking up!
*You take your meds when you are told, while being closely watched. The doctor decides what meds you need, most likely much less than you think you need. No over the counter stuff unless doc gives it to you, even cough drops or Tums!
*You eat when you are scheduled, probably very good food, but you choose from what they cooked today...no late-nite fast food runs.
* Do your own laundry.
*You are expected to be responsible and on-time for all classes, counseling, meetings etc...and you will have homework!
* There will be other people there that you don't like. People with whom you would never interact in "real-life". You have to be around them every day as long as you are there so guess what? You compromise and learn to get along. They probably think you are the crazy one!
*Smoking is prohibited in most places, including your room. If there is a smoking area, it will be outside, crowded and monitored so you are not smoking when you are supposed to be in classes or meetings. The staff will not provide you with smoking materials if you run out.
*I'm pretty sure they want you to wear panties.

I'm thinking Birt thought she could shop around for a rehab where she lives like she pleases, making her own rules. I don't know if she'll find it but I hope she doesn't. It would be a waste of her time and money.
Beating depression and addiction is serious business. God will help her like He did me, if she will just give up and take His hand!

Susan
I posted this last week and it looks like that is exactly what she did. I am disappointed to see that they let her call the shots. I wish her well, but I'm afraid that the most one can expect from this stint in rehab is that maybe a grain of sanity will be implanted in her brain. Many folks leave rehab and get right back in to their addiction, and if they don't die from it , they return to treatment and take it seriously.
Gotta let go of that CONTROL and just be a person, not a persona!

It's hard to be thrown into an alien situation and do everything right from the get go. I hope she finds what she needs, she's so young.

I am so tired of hearing about Britney Spears. I really hope she gets better and takes her boys and moves away. She can't handle the spotlight so she needs to get out of it. I am not saying I could handle that much pressure either. I think she's probably bipolar.
