Wow. I was raised in South Florida and we often had gators in the back yard. Attacks on toddlers and small pets were tragic and not uncommon.

But attacks on teenagers!? Either the gators are getting bigger (entirely possible since they are protected nowadays and may live longer) or they've lost so much of their natural habitat that they no longer have larger prey on which they used to feed.
