Two children, possibly younger than five, were found dead in a Temple home Monday, a Temple police spokesman said.

Chris Christoff said police went to the home around 11:30 a.m. at Ave. P at South 35th St. after the Salvation Army asked them to do a welfare check.

Police found the two kids dead and a woman who was in a catatonic state. Two other children who were taken into Child Protective Services custody, Christoff said.

Christoff said the kids had been dead for more than a day or two.

I think that is not the correct link @JerseyGirl. try this one from the same site: 2 children found dead in Temple home were there for days, police say

A bit more:
Neighbors told 6 News reporter Andrew Moore that the home belongs to a mother and her three children and the mother just returned home from a drug treatment program.

Clarence Carter, who lives in the neighborhood, said he knows the woman and that he would sometimes drive her around.

"I'm devastated because she is a young lady with four children trying to make it and trying to do better for, not only for herself but for her children also," Carter said.

Oh no.
I wonder if the kids got into drugs? How sad.

The article cited by @JerseyGirl was originally in the article JG gave us -- it disappeared into its own article while I was looking at it!! It was there one second and gone the next!! Weird, but I guess the news source decided to give it its own space.
Anyway, I'm following -- what the heck happened?

Did she buy/get more drugs and they were super strong or did they have crap in them that may be deadly? Did she have a stroke? Is either of the surviving children old enuff to tell LE and CPS what happened?
In the article, one of the LEO's at the scene said this was one of the worst calls he's seen.
This is another sad one, of course. Hoping the surviving children are physically healthy... They surely were in the midst of the stuff of nightmares, IMO.

If mom was in a catatonic state, it seems more likely that she killed them...sounds like a mental breakdown. If that’s the case I feel bad for them all.

How many kids does she actually have, though? Two are dead, one article says 3 and the quote from that guy said 4.

Same here, I'm confused about the "missing" child -- the press could possibly have gotten it wrong. (?)
I didn't even think about her possibly harming the children, but anything is possible. SMH.
The phrase that the LEO was said to make, one of the worst calls he's seen, is scary. Your comments on her possible actions towards the 2 children may be what made the scene as the LEO said. SMH. Oh, my.

I think it’s 4 children. The two taken into care are 4 and 6 years old, and the deceased 1 and 2 years old.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services confirmed Tuesday it is conducting a joint investigation with Temple police after officers found a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl dead Monday in a home along with a woman who was conscious, but unresponsive and two other girls, ages 4 and 6, who were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

The 6-y/o may know something about what happened, but how and when would you ask a child about something that might have been horrible? I'm sure child psychologists or similar professional people would know -- drawing pictures, word games, etc., but the timing of it is what is troubling to me. What a horror if bad things were done in that house. It could be the young ones may have simply gotten dehydrated, and that can be fatal, especially to babies or toddlers.

Hmmm -- could be. The Salvation Army must have known the family through some connection -- maybe the family came by at some regular interval -- after-school program, nightly dinners, worship, etc., and maybe they stopped coming, and the SA was concerned enough to as for the welfare check.

Yes, it was a total of 4 kids. 2 were deceased and the other were taken from the home by cps. I am local to this.

Yes, drawing, dolls, and lots of time. Agree on the dehydration as well. The little girls may have tried to feed and care for their sibs as well.

Praying for the future of those 2 little girls & the family caring for them now.
