At approximately 6:15 PM on January 3rd, 2019, The Texas City Police Department responded to a welfare concern at the Pointe Ann Apartments, located at 1225 10th Street North in Texas City. Upon arrival to the apartment, officers discovered three juvenile victims who were deceased and one adult female with a gun shot wound to the head. The three juvenile victims are believed to be 5YOA, 2YOA, and an infant. The adult female was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and is being treated for her wounds. She is currently listed in stable condition.

Detectives are seeking a person of interest in this incident, who is identified as Juniad Hashim Mehmood. Mehmood is a 27-year-old black male standing 6 foot tall and weighing approximately 220 lbs. Mehmood is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached if located.

This remains an active investigation. Police are asking anyone who has information regarding this incident to contact Texas City Police Department at (409) 643-5720.

TEXAS CITY, TX (January 3, 2019, 11:00PM): At approximately 10:31 PM, Junaid Hashim Mehmood was taken into police custody on an unrelated warrant and will be held in the Texas City Jail. Detectives recently obtained a search warrant for the apartment and are beginning the early stages of processing the scene for evidence. The Texas City Police Department is working closely with the Houston Police Department, League City Police Department, Texas Rangers, and the Galveston County District Attorney's Office on this active investigation that is expected to last throughout the night. This press release will be updated again tomorrow morning, Friday, January 4, 2019.

Man tells 911 he killed his family before arrest: police

Police say a 27-year-old man confessed to killing three children and shooting a woman in a call to 911 dispatchers shortly before his arrest.

Junaid Mehmood was taken into custody late Thursday behind the Panera Bread restaurant in southeast Houston on El Dorado, just hours after police made the gruesome discovery in Texas City.

Mehmood was audibly distraught in the back of a patrol car as he awaited transfer into Texas City police custody.

"I KILLED MY FAMILY," SUSPECT ALLEGEDLY CONFESSES

Investigators said he was "incoherent," emotional and yelling at times, and that he confessed to dispatchers, "I killed my family."

Latest: Man charged with capital murder in children’s deaths

Authorities in Southeast Texas have charged a 27-year-old man with capital murder following an attack that left three children dead and their mother with severe injuries.

Texas City police Chief Joe Stanton said Friday that Junaid Hashim Mehmood is facing two counts of capital murder along with a charge of aggravated assault.

Mehmood is being held without bond at the Galveston County jail. Online jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.

Stanton says the three children found dead Thursday in an apartment were stabbed and beaten. One child was 5 years old, another was 1 and the third was an infant.

Their mother, 24-year-old Kimaria Nelson, was beaten and shot several times in the head with a pellet gun. She remained hospitalized Friday.

The identities of the three young children murdered in their Texas apartment on Thursday have been revealed.

The medical examination revealed that all three children suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force trauma, which they succumbed to. Texas City Police Department has subsequently added two charges against Junaid Mehmood for Capital Murder, both with no bond. Detectives have determined that Kimaria Nelson is suffering from blunt force trauma and she was also shot several times in the face and head with a high powered pellet gun. She remains hospitalized at this time. Junaid Mehmood has been transported to the Galveston County Jail, where he will await trial.

I don't understand the charges. Only 1 count of capital murder of person under 10 years old - shouldn't that be 3 counts?? or are "some" counted in the first charge - Capital murder multiple deaths?
