TX - Abandoned infant found in grocery bag, Houston

  • #41
I grew up only blocks from where she was found. I graduated class of '01 (not THAT long ago) and we took Sex Ed in high school. I wish they would 1) continue this class as a part of Health and 2) cover Safe Haven Laws in this class. 8 girls in my graduating class were pregnant my senior year. If they can't get them to prevent one "potential" (I say that bc it could be a blessing) mistake, they can give them an avenue to prevent them from making one that could be fatal to both mother and baby, by simply handing out a worksheet on the Safe Haven Laws. So sad. She's beautiful. I would take her in a heartbeat also.

ETA: btw, no baby is a mistake. I just wanted to clarify. It's really based on the perception of the mother. I was 18 when I got preggers with my special needs baby. Alone. No help. Not even family. He's my angel. I wouldn't trade him for the universe.

I was also 18 when my daughter with Down syndrome was born.
Best thing that ever happened to me. :seeya:

Each time a case like Chloe's come up my daughters are reminded of the Safe Haven Law.
It is something that I hope they will mention to friends later on... and educate them. :seeya:
