TX - Abigail “Abby” Young, Up for Parole on a Yearly Basis

  • #381
The following is from Laurie Thompson, Emma Thompson's paternal grandmother and Thompson family spokesperson. It was posted on her Facebook page:

  • Dear Friends,
I waited until after the holidays but must again ask for your help opposing the parole consideration for Abigail Young. We received word in late November that the process had begun for the new cycle. As you may recall, her full sentence will be served by July, 2030.

  • Nothing has changed; she remains obstinate in her refusal to express remorse, accept ownership or take accountability for her role in Emma's death.

  • As a reminder, you MUST include her name and accompanying identification numbers (info below). I find it easiest to include them in the subject line of my email as well as the text. It is also helpful to include your city, state after your signature so the members of the Board can appreciate the far-reaching impact of this case. We have letters coming from as far away as Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Greece and France since Emma's horrific death made international newscasts.

  • I know many of you are nurses or work in the health field and find this crime particularly heinous since Abigail Young was also a nurse and used her medical knowledge to drug her children, destroy evidence and conceal her complicity in the crime with her lover.

  • Once again, I hope you know how truly grateful we are for your ongoing support. Please share this request with classmates, spouses, family, and friends. It means the world to us and helps us move forward each year with this excruciating process. Please try to have your letters sent no later than mid or late February as they may have a decision as soon as March this year.

  • With many thanks,
    Laurie Thompson

KMartin & MrsSelig, thank you both for wanting to help keep this monster where she belongs! I can’t believe it’s just 5 more years for her sentence to be up! I hope she has hated every minute she has spent behind bars after she allowed baby Emma to be brutalized by her “boyfriend”. As sickening as it was he also molested his own child, who IIRC was around the same age as Emma, who had just turned 3.

AY has come up for parole every year and every year there has been a campaign to keep her locked up! She has never accepted responsibility for her daughter’s abuse or death. I doubt if she ever will. Little Emma had a family who loves her very much, a daddy, paternal grandparents, 2 sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins & a very special maternal aunt.

Emma’s grandmother, Laurie Thompson, has been a force to be reckoned with! She’s the grandmother every child should have. Along with Ann-Tx, Emma got as much justice as can be given with our current system. The boyfriend was sentenced to life without parole. Tx is a death penalty state, the DA decided to forgo the death penalty for him in order to lock him up & throw away the key - no retrial, no appeals, no chance of parole ever! Personally, I think Abigail Young should’ve gotten the same sentence!

Come January we will need to send letters again to the above address, please be sure to include all the pertinent information so our voices can be heard! You don’t need to be a resident of Texas to send your letter.

I will send emails every single year this monster is up for parole! I too, believe she should have received a sentence of life without parole, period! Even if she did accept responsibility for her daughter's abuse and murder, she does not deserve to ever walk free again.

I shudder to think she will be released in 5 years??? Makes me quite ill. . . . . .
