I hope she never gets to be near a live animal ever again.

So sorry for not quite understanding the situation. Where did the incision come from? Did she inflict it, or did the cat accidentally get wounded?

if I find out they did it to the cat for 'research' purposes, I may scream

Totally. There was this sick kid in Miami, who dissected people's pets. He admitted it, but his rich parents got him off.

She had high school kids torturing a cat? Later she's smiling in her mug shot.
It's really impossible to comprehend.

At first glance, I thought it was a dead cat being dissected as part of biology class, and she was going to show them how to use a surgical stapler, but no - poor thing was alive!

I never had to do cat dissection, but the class that met before mine when I took college biology was for LPNs, and they did that. Those things really stunk!

We used fetal pigs, and often worked with cow eyes to identify the parts of the eyes, and muscles. But never any sort of animals like a cat or dog.

I should clarify that the class was for LPNs who were in the process of getting their RN certification.

This was at a community college. After transferring to the university where I got my pharmacy degree, I had one class with nursing students where they had a mandatory lab with a pre-dissected human cadaver, with all the arteries and veins marked with colored latex; we could go but didn't get credit for it. I was taking an incredibly heavy load as it was and never went to an elective lab.
