It appears that the clock takes a 9 volt battery. Looking at the picture, it appears that it was removed because all I see is an empty 9 volt battery connector.

In general, I find ticking noises distracting....from clocks, bombs, it doesn't matter. The noise breaks my concentration.
I AM a teacher. And we are not all reactive, paranoid people.
MOST of us celebrate a child's creativity. This chiild MADE A CLOCK. Could YOU do that? i could not.
But let us not celebrate creativity and ingenuity. Let us criminalize it. Which is why we are the Idiocracy we are.![]()
Must be hard to function, well, anywhere. I am hard pressed to think of places where noise is absent. I feel for you.
Thanks for your concern & it's only droning ticking noises that bother me, Ellie.
Not much else & that's a good way to live, IMO.
I don't like ticking noises (& I don't like ticks either)!

Those^^^are just 3 bomb threats from TODAY , at various high schools. If a teacher does not report an unknown electronic device in a student's backpack then she is incompetent, imo.
bomb threats at our high schools:
Police investigate bomb threat at West Shamokin High School
Wednesday - Sept. 16, 2015
State police are investigating a bomb threat Tuesday at West Shamokin High School.
The threat, which police said read “The Bomb will blow up 9⁄16/15 at 9:20 Die,” was written on a men's bathroom wall, Kittanning state police said in a press release. No evidence of a bomb was found. Police are still searching for a suspect.

School was canceled for students and staff, and emergency personnel responded to the high school’s campus early in the morning. Officers and bomb detecting K-9’s were called in to conduct a search, the release stated.

UPDATE: Possible Bomb Threat at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek
SEPTEMBER 16, 2015
We discovered a threatening message similar to what was discovered two weeks ago written on boys bathroom stalls at the end of lunch. We take all threats of student safety seriously. After consulting with our School Resource Officer, we informed the staff and students to evacuate to the field. Prior to the evacuation, we increased police presence on campus and swept the football field to help ensure student safety

Was there no teacher at the school that could ID the "unknown electronic device" as a clock and prevent Ahmed from being arrested?
I live in Texas, we don't score very high on the education level anymore.
Those examples are bomb threats, threatening messages. This thread is about a clock!
EXACTLY. And these bomb threats are indicative of the reality of our times. Those are just the ones from today. Kids are making bomb threats all of the time. So it is not a stretch for a teacher to look at a beeping unknown electronic device in a students backpack and be concerned. Bombs are OFTEN built around clocks so the clocks can set them off.
Agree. It's better to be safe than sorry. But they could have been more discreet with the kid's detainment. And not cuff him in front of the world as if he was an isis affiliate.
