My only reason against suicide, as that I do think LE would have come out and said so.

But then, if his body was laying in the woods for 8 months, it may more difficult to determine that.

I just think it's strange LE haven't said anything about cause....still.

Could you provide a link for your “no ransom” comment? I don’t recall LE or msm or family making any comment on whether or not any ransom demand was received. If one had been received, I wouldn’t expect that information to have been made public. Tia

I meant it in a strictly speculative sense that there is no known financial motive for a third party or for foul play. LE and family have only said that there has been no activity on his cards/bank accounts.

you are right though, they would likely not disclose any ransom requests if they were made.

I don’t know that LE will always announce if an investigation turns out to be suicide. I have tried to find that out, but it may depend on individual jurisdictional policies. A family may be reluctant to have that information made public, but maybe in some cases they have no choice in what LE announces regarding self-harm. I just don’t know what protocol is, and there may be examples of handling it differently in different situations.

He changed shirts. It’s on the video of him leaving the gym

Do you have a link to this video that shows what he was wearing as he exited the gym?

Can’t link from this device, but there were several posts by DallasVolunteer in thread #1 containing a video first released by RozierReports. I just viewed the video again, and it seems blurrier than before. There’s a clearer version though at nbcdfw.com “Surveillance Video Shows KPMG Executive Moments Before He Vanished” (10/28, updated 10/31).

You can see AW slip his shirt off (over his head) as he walks along the sidewalk just before he gets to the rear of the Macan. He opens the rear driver’s side door, appears to get something out, slips a shirt on (again over his head), and then gets into the vehicle via the driver’s door. Jmo

But yet the "positives" you cite can also be the stressors that put someone over the edge.
Good point, especially about money and people's tendency to spend what they earn- and then some. I agree, people can have hidden problems.

At the same time, for a likely suicide scenario, there just seems to be one "and" too many:

No apparent severe personal problems (though as you state, they could well exist), and no apparent work problems, and daily routine kept to a "t" and suicide in an unfamiliar place, and coincidence about location where car was left.

Would appreciate it if anyone can link to a vid showing Mr. White changing shirts. Thx much.

From what I see, it looks like he pulls a t-shirt off over his head as he approaches his car. Perhaps it was a red tank under the t-shirt. JMO.
Yes, that's pretty much what we thought early on.

I wonder when we’ll find out COD? They must know by now ... hoping more news soon. Such a tragedy. Moo

Checking on Alan's case. If it's tough for us to wait, I can only imagine how difficult it is for those who were closest to him.

If you greatly enlarge this vid,

Surveillance Video Shows KPMG Executive Moments Before He Vanished

and watch over and over and over around the 1 second mark, I think you'll see that Mr. White appears to reach both hands over his head, and then in the light behind his back you can see what is almost certainly his coach backpack and attached sling both pass in view after lifted from off his shoulder around his right side to in front of him - you can literally see the backpack behind Mr. White and then between Mr. White and the cam and then dangling in front of Mr. White - in preparation for placing it in the vehicle prior to taking a seat in the vehicle. Quite sure he is not removing his shirt in that clip. Very likely he is at that moment in that clip wearing the same red top he shows up wearing on color RaceTrac vid some minutes later. I'd think it likely his remains, when found one month ago today, were found still clad in the red top. Always feels odd watching vid of someone in their final moments...

Great sleuthing! I wonder if his pack was found. And what the contents were.

It’s always interesting to me that we think we know someone based on the few facts family has decided to release. But we don’t. We know pretty much nothing about Alan White. The very few things we know, that you believe show stability, to me can show a lack of stability. Mid career job change, man in his 50s flipping houses *that he lives in*, husband who goes from 0 to 60 immediately when spouse is 20 minutes late, the apparent need to sell the homestead within weeks of Alan going missing. And, of course, we have absolutely no idea whether he knew anything about the place his body was found. None. We only know it’s an easy walk from where his car was abandoned. Hmmmmm.

I remember reading on his LinkedIn page that he had only been working at KPMG since February 2020.

As I recall, before that, he had taken a break of a few months since his last place of work.

Now, it's a lot of money to support that kind of living and lifestyle when you don't have an income. Maybe he saved up to enjoy a career break?

I'm not sure why he left his last place of employment, maybe it was due to stress?

Maybe he needed a few months off to decide what to do, to spend some time with Rusty 'flipping houses'.

But of course, the idea is, you don't live in the houses you flip, as then you'll be constantly moving about like a nomad with everyhouse you do up.

How many houses did they 'flip'?

Was it not as successful as they hoped, so Alan went back into his career and got hired at KPMG?

MOO.

I have a relative who flips houses for a living but doesn't live in them while they are being flipped. She and her husband have all kinds of associations, including investors, electricians, plumbers, structural engineers, professional cleaners, real estate agents, etc. There are sometimes issues that arise among these parties when a job isn't done well and it's discovered later on down the line, during inspection or appraisal.

The goal in flipping is to move property and make money. It can be a lucrative career on its own, without the need for a corporate job. Maybe Alan left his previous job temporarily, in an effort to see if he would like flipping full-time. The pandemic didn't hurt my relative's business very much since they worked throughout 2020 and had no trouble selling properties.
It's getting more expensive now though, with rising lumber prices and the difficulty in finding supplies.

This is why I didn't find it surprising to learn that Alan's husband sold their house not long after Alan's disappearance. It was probably something they had already planned.

It is common for folks to live in houses they flip for one major reason: the federal tax code. The code is such that if you've lived in the home 2 of past 5 years as primary residence, a married couple gets up to one-half million dollars in capital gains FREE OF TAX. For example, if they paid $1.33M for their residence, and sold it 2 or more years later for $1.83MM, that $500k capital gain on the settlement statement hits their bank account IN FULL, the feds take nothing. This element of the tax code makes serial flipping of primary residences very do-able, and potentially very profitable.

My daughter and her real estate agent/contractor husband do the same thing. It can be quite lucrative.

That makes a lot of sense for expensive properties. My relative works with smaller homes, cash investors, and flips that can be completed within 3-6 months.
It sounds like Alan and his husband dealt in higher priced homes where the rehab might take a year or more. Taking advantage of the tax code would have been smart for them.
