There was a LOT of convo here about that when it happened, and to the best of my recollection, it was never clarified what the reason was for updating him to that status.

I wonder if depression would count as a very broadly taken version of intellectual disability. Like he is not in a right frame of mind and there is a possibility he could be a danger to himself? Maybe LE has a leeway, some kind of discretion while interpreting this category?

Disclaimer: I’m definitely not claiming or not even imagining AW had some kind of developmental delay. He has not.

*If* the right designation was issued, the only explanation I can think of is early onset of a cognitive disorder. This seems incongruent to his demanding work role, but who knows. So many unknowns in this sad case.

I think that's what many assumed, but in TX the designation doesn't seem to cover that. JMO.

But wouldn't that automatically include about 90% of missing people?!
Surely most of them are endangered or the victim of criminal activity.....thats why they've gone missing in the first place!

I think the “endangered missing” classification was resolved at least a month ago. I don’t recall the precise reason but there were many, many posts.

Thinking about this... maybe they used the term "endangered missing" to generally classify the case and get it looked at by criminal investigators, but it didn't technically meet the requirements for an endangered missing person "alert". JMO.

This might seem like a minor thing, but the way this article was worded, it was unclear where AW's phone was. I had assumed they were querying or trying to get records to find out where it last pinged (this interpretation may have been influenced by a comment in the article; I mention it because it may have been confirmation bias on my part). However, in the reporting after AW was found, they're saying the phone was in the car?

IMO, the phone being in the car makes foul play seem even less likely. Motive for foul play was already thin (no ransom, financial activity on cards/bank accounts). Now, I also don't believe in a scenario of self-harm. Given the facts that we know, he would have locked the keys in the car, left his phone there, and walked the mile or so? But this is just a strange, strange detail.

I thought it was a beautiful tribute to Alan. He has so many people that love him and he sounds like an amazing man. I was getting very emotional listening to his friends. RIP Alan. So tragic and sad.

Doesn’t the LA Fitness video show Alan driving forward out of a parking space he had apparently backed into? Perhaps that’s just his habit. And more evidence that he is the one who parked his car in the Kitty Street lot.
