TX TX - Alan White, 55, seen leaving LA Fitness, found deceased, Dallas, 22 Oct 2020 #4

What's your take on the behavior at the gas station and how it points to the possibility of self-harm?

I interpret it as waiting for someone (possibly looking for them inside and waiting or searching the parking lot, either for them or for a confirmation of a meeting place). JMO.
It very much looks like he is waiting for someone. From that, I would infer that he was either really waiting for someone or he wanted to create the impression that he was waiting for someone. One possible reason he went to that station and not the one he usually went to; which was closer to his home, was that there were better CCTV there. This is total speculation/conjecture on my part.

It's an idea, but I can't think of a case where someone staged their suicide to appear as a possible homicide, can you? He wouldn't have known LE would seek out that specific footage. So I believe he was actually waiting for someone and something happened. Of course, none of us know for sure...

Florida man faked his murder using a gun and a weather balloon

The mysterious death of a Florida man has been solved, police say, after piecing together an elaborate suicide plot that included a weather balloon hoisting a gun into the sky.

Palm Beach Gardens police began investigating the death of Alan Jay Abrahamson as a homicide. His body was found with a bullet wound to his chest in a field near his country club home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Jan. 25.

In February, police entertained the idea that Abrahamson's death might have been a suicide. The working theory became: He tied a gun to a string, attached it to the weather balloon, and once the shot was fired, the balloon carried the weapon away from the scene.

Did they confirm what the gas tank was at before he went there, or how much he bought?

I'd think it's much more likely that he was there for much more mundane reasons than some of the things being suggested.

Just getting back from the gym, (possibly after a protein shake or pre-workout drink), paired with visiting the gas station with one of the cleaner restrooms - It could be something as simple as if he was trying to figure out if he needed to answer the call of nature there or wait until he got home.

I just watched a show about this one. Totally crazy but it's true. They even found internet searches on his computer about making a suicide look like homicide. He'd been planning it for years. Fact is stranger than fiction.

files still sealed. i have seen cases, 15, 20 years old, still sealed because their status was still 'open'. i wish there was a time limit on that status if no conclusions had been made.

His niece (verified insider) said early on that the RaceTrac off Inwood was not on his normal route. Their theory was that there was a robbery at his usual fill-up place and he wanted to avoid the area in case the road was closed.

That post links to a 7-Eleven robbed off Oak Lawn Ave on 10/22/20 at 1 am, but it isn't verified if 7-Eleven was his usual fill-up place or if that was the robbery he was speaking of.

Masked Robbers Shoot 7-Eleven Clerk Twice At Oak Lawn Store, Then Take Off <- since the link in the original WS post now redirects, this is a more permanent link.

honestly it's hard to come up with a coherent theory that doesn't seem completely outlandish or overly complex.

The thing that currently bothers me is his phone. For quite a while, his phone was missing, then suddenly it was reported that LE had it, but never stated when/where it was recovered from.

Thank you for requesting this again and I agree with your opinion. If nothing else, I always hope your request spurs some type of a reminder that people haven't forgotten about Alan and they need to dust off his case file!

A few pages back, I saw a quote from a newspaper article that quoted Alan's husband Rusty saying that he thought someone got into the car at the racetrack. However, isn't there video surveillance of the entire visit? You would see someone get into his car while he was inside the store, wouldn't you?

It then says Alan drove around several times. If he picked someone up behind the store, why would he circle several times? If he was carjacked behind the store, why would he circle several times?

Were they able to see inside the car as Alan drove away under various street lights along the route along with cameras? In order to control somebody you are carjacking, wouldn't you need to sit in the passenger seat or in the back?

Often times, stores have video surveillance in the back, too, so if someone entered his car while he was behind the store, it should be recorded. I'm not an expert, but theft and robbery and employee malfeasance might happen through the back, so you would think there'd definitely be surveillance back there as well.

So, why is Rusty saying he thinks somebody got into the car with Alan at the gas station? Maybe I missed it.

Very perplexing case. I'm surprised that no one seems to be saying much about Alan's disappearance in terms of calls for action; not his husband, not his family, and not the police. What in the world is happening?!

From what I could surmise, they were a well-off couple, and there was a major sale of the home in the millions soon after Alan's disappearance, so I wonder if a private investigator was hired. Wouldn't you want to know what happened? I feel like the public, for understandable reasons, only knows about 10% of the details of this case.

You raise a few good points regarding Rusty, but we're not privy to many of the things he knew about Alan as his husband.
Trying to recall if Rusty made that statement at the onset when not much information was available yet.

I've long thought Alan was going to meet with someone at the RaceTrac on Inwood. Those who knew him said he regularly went to the RaceTrac on Lemmon, which was close to their home.

When he went into the store, he was looking for someone perhaps. Then cruising around back of Churches Chicken, why? Again looking for someone, IMO. Perhaps he caught up with said person, later down the road after leaving RaceTrac.

It's a mystery I hope one day we learn the answers too.

The Racetrack that Alan went to regularly had been robbed that early morning and was congested with law enforcement and crime scene employees if I'm remembering correctly. That was what most people were talking about on here as to why he would go out of his way to the Inwood Racetrack.

I remembered it that way, too but Google didn't help me find a reference to it so I didn't post it. Thank you for mentioning it.

Link to robbery info within this post..

Do you have a link about this robbery? The original post mentioned a robbery at a 7-Eleven off Lemmon, but that was at 1 am. I don't believe it's been established if 1) Alan usually pumped gas at 7-Eleven at all and 2) if he went to that location.

The Racetrac off Inwood isn't really out of the way - it's only a mile or so from where he lived. It was speculation about why he went there when we didn't know where he lived (this was verified with an Instagram post, plus sale records when Rusty put it up for sale).

Edit: okay, I'm confusing two different robberies. One as at the 7-Eleven at 4239 Lemmon Ave at 12:45 am on 10/22/20. The other was at the 7-Eleven off 2529 Oak Lawn Avenue at 1 a.m

Hi poppyquiche,
I don't know whether you've seen the articles from LE and family (Tim, brother) but Alan's death is being reported as a murder.

I doubt very much Alan's final moments were benign, boring or peaceful .. more than likely very violent.
I wish more than anything, Alan's killer(s) will be caught.

Sending love, hope and best wishes to Tim and family x

This makes me very sad. It’s not especially shocking as this whole thing has felt off from Minute One.

Thanks for the update. If someone hurt Alan, may justice find them both.

Tim said there is a killer out there. He isn’t mincing words and believes Alan was murdered. I agree with him.

Echoing your wishes to Alan’s family. I wish they had the answers they so desperately want.
