Do you report your children missing the moment they aren't where they are supposed to be?

Thank God I haven't had this experience (yet), but when the day surely arrives that they aren't where they said they would be I expect I may go looking myself first (as KG did), make some calls...... He was out looking when he stopped the officer himself.

I may end up being wrong here, and I don't think I'd let my 6 year old roam the hood unsupervised, but we really don't know the circumstances here.

Where was this child even supposed to be? Neighbors say she roamed freely.
I saw a video of one neighbor saying the child didn't even want to go home.
So far it's not even clear when the child was last seen by either parent.

most definitely evidence on the tape!

OT: A new design of latex gloves that minimize adhesive sticking to them, for certain medical procedures.

From this link:
http://www.microflex.com/Resources/~/media/Files/Glove Education Documents/Gloves_and_Adhesives.ashx

"Microflex® gloves have been known to provide
consistent non-stick features in these situations. The
unique finishing process of Microflex® gloves, such as
UltraSense™, minimizes tape and label sticking to the
gloves."

This is good information to us here, for other cases, but not so good, for those out there, that have evil ideas in mind.

I can just see it now, if LE ever checks my computer!

???
This person might have not been wearing gloves. He/she either dumped or lost the body on the street. That doesn't suggest some master criminal.

Yes, I called 911 when my 10 year old son wasn't home fifteen minutes after he was supposed to be. He also forgot and left his phone at home. It was uncharacteristic, and I was in a panic.

He was fine, neighbor found him, and it has never happened again.

I do wonder when and where her clothes will be found.

http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/07/02/4977697/body-of-young-girl-found-in-saginaw.html

This article talks about how the neighbor helped the father search, but doesn't have the 8pm time reference. I'll keep looking...I know I've seen it somewhere. Another article stated that mom was also out knocking on doors, but didn't appear worried, telling the neighbor "she always does this."

Total supposition: I'm just thinking out loud here, but what if the child informed the parents that she was going to a friend's house...perhaps even said, "mom, I'm going to eat supper at Susie's". Perhaps mom said, "come home after supper." People eat later in the summers...maybe that could account for why they weren't looking for her until later. Maybe they called or knocked at the neighbors, child wasn't there, they just figured she'd changed her mind and began to check with the other neighbors. LE hasn't told us anything...maybe they know who's house she was visiting. Just throwing out a possible scenario.

With LE stating that the parents are not suspects--one article even said the parents had been "cleared"--makes me think that while they have not told MSM where anyone was that afternoon, LE knows at least where the parents were.

If the child told them something about eating supper at "Susie's" then one presumes that's where they would be looking-at "Susie's" house. I don't think they knew where this child was supposed to be at all.
And it sounds like the regular behavior for her, from what neighbors say.

I live about a mile or so away from where she was found. When we heard about the situation via twitter (but before the news reports that night) we drove over to the neighborhood. Turning into the neighborhood from McLeroy, we couldn't see the massive police presence. It wasn't until we made our way down to the stop sign that it was obvious this was a major situation. The police had the street blocked off and all of the lights and vehicles were on a street parallel to McLeroy. They probably couldn't see from their house or neighborhood on the other side of McLeroy.

But even if they couldn't physically see what was happening, I'm sure the news of it travelled very quickly. I mean we obviously heard about it fast, so I'm sure a lot of saginaw did as well.

I would think that as news spread on Twitter/Facebook/TV that friends and neighbors would be calling/texting each other: "did you hear....".

I am sure it did spread. Which is why the father started looking for her, I presume.

The Daily Mail has the article in which the neighbor states Dad started knocking on doors at 9:00. I don't know how to link. Sorry!

This is exactly my point: many have noted there are several customarily reported details we haven't received yet. Time last seen, where parents thought she was, etc could be among them.....

In the meantime, it seems things are being assumed and implied to fill in the blanks.

If the tarp was in the middle of the road, people would have to drive around it to avoid it. I think it was nearer to the curb because the teens mentioned that it was in the way of their scootering, which I assume would be done nearer to the curb. I don't think the tarp was driven over, thank goodness. I don't remember seeing any blood on the photos of the tarp nor did the teens mention blood. I started getting worried that she could have been dragged a bit by a vehicle if the tarp or belt were caught in the undercarriage.

You could be right. My husband says that when items fall out of a truck, they tumble. He said IF she fell out, she would've been in middle of road, not neatly near the curb, and also says unless she was wrapped in the tarp tight, the tarp would not have been over her.

I agree with that! Looking at the aerial photo taken of the intersection and tarp covered body near the curb, it looks like the perp may have stopped at the Stop sign, opened the passenger door and shoved the body out. I can only speculate that in his(?) panic, he hoped the bundle would look like trash and be picked up and disposed of at the land fill or wherever trash is taken by the City or citizens. JMOOC

Welcome to Websleuths!

Neighbors said her father started looking for her about 9pm Tuesday - an hour and a half after he body was found. They recalled him going door-to-door asking if anyone had seen his daughter.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ation-daughters-murder.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

About 9.15pm, Mr Janus said he saw Alanna's father walk over to two police cruisers that had parked on his street. He believes that is when the parents reported their young daughter missing.

bbm

there is a picture of the intersection that shows the tarp and where it is located

But if they are waiting for tox, does that imply that it was not something obvious like ....... :( ......something they can see with their eyes, violence of some sort? Or not necessarily ?

ETA a drug type of death would imply a plan and NOT a moment of opportunity , which is somewhat what it appears to be now. If someone planned this out enough to drug her then they dropped the ball on the latter part of their plan. moooo

Going back to Somer, there was blunt force trauma.

They never released the info until they had the perp and it is a Sunshine Law state.

They may not release COD for Alanna

From the below article, published yesterday:

"Investigators say the family is not suspected, and they believe the case will be an isolated incident."

Read more here: http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/07/07/4986461/funeral-for-murdered-saginaw-6.html#storylink=cpy

I don't think LE would want to go on record saying several times that the family was cleared, not suspected, etc....and then have to explain themselves later. If parents were suspects, they probably would simply stick with "everyone is a suspect" line. Can we back off the parents now? As someone pointed out a few days ago, they are victims of this, too. I'm sure they feel horrible enough without the Court of Public Opinion charging them with bad parenting - as if they allowed this or deserved it?

That said, the second half of the quoted statement is what is really bothering me: HOW do you know this will be/is an isolated incident? Ugh.......
